mono jobi like stick figure Mon jobi and I we think he’s doing a Euro Step Right Jack he’s got to be doing it yeah he’s got to be doing the Euro yeah there’s one he’s clearly doing the Euro but then there’s like two other stick figures like we I think he’s celebrating the shot on one of them who knows who knows yeah who knows uh once again we apologize for no video but we did have some major Tech issues so we’re going do an audio portion uh for the remainder of the show but Jack is back to discuss all things NBA draft and we’re going to put in Spotlight Ron Holland should the Spurs select them should they go after him should they even use one of their first round picks on him we’re gonna be discussing that right now with Jack and Jack you know overall you know it feels like the Buzz for Ron has cooled off tremendously he’s no longer being you know banned about you know it’s kind of gotten quiet why has Ron’s name gotten quiet and should the Spurs select them well quite frankly the reason why ju Ron Holland’s you know stock has cooled off is because frankly he he just can’t shoot especially from the three-point range he average 18 and a half a game and all of that with less than one three made a game he shot the three at about 28 29% which is you know just not good whatsoever um he’s a dynamic player I mean he’s super super athletic 68 long arms very very fast gets to the rim really well obviously at scoring 18 points a game with no threes but that’s the real extent of his game right now he’s a little one-dimensional he’s just a slasher but on the defensive end he’s he’s a great defender I mean he can guard one through four super athletic long arms like I said so his impact early on in the NBA will definitely come from his defensive ability it’s really he’s really just not a guy that I see in the cards for the Spurs right now we’re not looking for long-term guys like he he’s in that Jeremy soan vein of players kind of a point forward type guy but I’m not looking for another guy that we have to completely break down his shot and build up from the ground and that’s going to take at least two or three seasons till he’s comfortable with it so yeah it’s just not a guy that I see in the cards for the Spurs right now yeah you I think you mentioned to me prior to the recording that he’s still a kid you know he’s just what 18 years old yeah he’s only 18 yeah he’s only 18 and the last thing this team needs Spurs is another project player they don’t need a project player they can’t afford a project they need somebody who’s either going to be an immediate impact or an immediate contributor who some just a little fine-tuning but that’s about it nothing long term something tells me Jack if the Spurs were to burn eight on him he’ll likely even be Austin bound which is not a good look for a top 10 pick yeah I mean I don’t know where he would find his minutes on the Spurs with not being able to shoot so yeah I mean immediately he’s going to get a lot of time and run in the Austin Spurs just right back to the G League where he he began his professional career yeah so yeah it’s just again I just as good as a player as he could be in maybe four or five years when he’s actually you know a grown man I’m just not wanting to wait for someone to develop anymore we need to really get this train moving for wimy and start maximizing what he brings to the table and a player like Ron Holland who doesn’t stretch the floor for wimy doesn’t not going to make anything easier on wimy I just I don’t see him being on the board for or being on our big board at eight near the top yeah he could definitely go to kind of a you know a team that’s sort of you know playoff bound if they’re looking for project players to develop uh but in San Antonio look if they were to get him for his defense I would understand that you know you mentioned right now he’s a good Defender uh but but you need more this Spurs team needs players that are good two-way guys guys and he’s too lopsided as of right now one way which is on the defensive end which is great but it worked for other guys Bruce Bowen that’s one I can think of you know great defender you know so so offensive guy but Bruce was a veteran you know the Spurs needed him just to fill a role Ron’s not there yet so you’re saying hard pass on Ron hollly correct yeah it would not be a a great pick for us today as good as he may become it’s just not in the cards for us right now I I would I would be a little disappointed if we we wasted a pick on Ron all right well let’s go and shift gears and just get your quick thoughts on a recent development regarding the Hawks and their number one pick Jack you pretty much saw I think all Spurs fans saw the GM Landry Fields pretty much told Atlanta media that as of now as of today Atlanta is leaning towards keeping the number one pick now the Spurs have been involved in rumors regarding moving up to get the number one spot Atlanta didn’t close the door completely Jack but it feels like they did do you think the Spurs should still make Atlanta an offer to get that number one pick I mean there’s no no harm in shooting an offer over if I was going for the number one pick I’d probably try and get throw Deonte in there as well because you know like I’ve been preaching for months here that the next step for the Spurs in becoming a a great NBA team is to get a true floor General point guard on the floor that can you know just make things way easier for wimy so I would certainly I think it would be much more feasible to get uh dejonte in that number one pick so yeah I would certainly you know cast your line out there and see what you get back it’s I don’t think there’s any harm in still throwing offers at him I mean I’m sure we’re not going to be the only team that does so either so yeah there I would absolutely still uh try and get that number one pick yeah if the guy is Rish as many believe it is I would understand that I think getting SAR might be I don’t know maybe a good problem to have but also a bad problem because of you know his inability to really be as want say like a like a flexible big you know can he he can’t shoot the three you know his mid-range game is so so he’s just kind of a guy that lives in the paint and with Wy living in the paint and in the three line and the two and the mid-range shot you know it’ll just cause problems you think if they were to make a deal with that Atlanta the guy is ret at this point yeah probably so they seemed pretty enamored with him early on and then we had our per our uh his pro day we we were out there and they seemed to fell in love with him then too so yeah I would imagine it’s probably rash if it were me though I feel like I would I would go for SAR I think the power the the um tag team at at you know the the back the front Court of wimy and SAR would would be insanely Dynamic two super long super athletic guys with the Unicorn type build can handle the ball had s while he’s not a shooter yet he’s got a jump shot and he can make shots he’s a shot maker but not a shooter so he I think I mean we talked about Ron Holland sar’s jump shot is far far better and more advanced than Ron Holland is so that I would not be worried about when getting uh SAR I think that that tandem of wimi and SAR would definitely strike fear into opponent off oh yes there’d be nothing hat around the rim with those two guys there so yeah I I for me it would be SAR but I think the Spurs are definitely very in love with rash at this point yeah so I I I think if we did get that one pick it would probably end up being him yeah and and the the Spurs were uh seen during his games in France during the regular season R even told me that he was very aware that the Spurs were scouting him leading up to the NBA Draft so they definitely are enamored with him we’ll see if the Spurs do make a deal for uh the number one pick but as of now I said Atlanta wants to keep it we’ll see how that plays out you I feel bad for Ron Holland you see gave everybody a lot of Spotlight Jack not today huh we didn’t really give that much yeah just not a guy that is in the cards for the Spurs I feel like moving mov forward it’s just not the type of player we need to bring on the team so unfortunately it was a short Spotlight for him as you know I do not Envision him becoming a Spur all right all right when heavy heavy draft questions player specific questions but Jack before we dive into that in our previous lock on Spurs uh I don’t know if you saw but Vegas put out their odds what the Spurs would do with the number four pick and they picked three guards even odds at plus 300 each that the Spurs are either going to pick topic Castle or Dillingham what do you think about that I mean of the three it’s far and away Stefon castle for me I mean we went we’ve had his Spotlight dude’s an absolute Menace on the defensive end he’s going to be able to step in right away and you know hold his own on the defensive end go guarding the best guards in the league 65 66 guard long arms super strong and just he’s got that like Marcus Smart sort of Drew holiday just dog mentality on defense where he takes pride in locking you up he’s also you know he he’s going to transition into being a point guard and I definitely Envision him you know down the line being a franchise point guard so Stefon Castle is Far and Away the top guard for me and then after him it’s either of those two guys I mean topic I was in love with early on and then just injury prone yeah got in hurt again uh then his measurements came out and everyone said he had a seven foot wingspan and it came out that he has a negative wingspan to his height he can’t really shoot he’s not an athletic guy so he’s definitely fallen down my my draft board when it comes to Dillingham I mean there’s certainly a place for him on the Spurs the dude’s he’s an absolute bucket getter he great off the dribble shooter um but I’m just not sure you know he’s a point guard I’m not sure he’s a table setter and that’s really what I Envision us needing for wimy we don’t well you know there’s a place for bucket Getters but we’ve got that in Devin vasel we we need a guy that’s gonna make the offense flow smoother get into sets set wimy up for lobs and easy you know pick and roll passes and just all that kind of stuff and I just don’t see that being Rob dillingh Han’s game in the NF in the in the NBA so he’s probably he’s below two but above those two I’ve got Reed Shepard I would much rather us draft Reed Shepard over those two guys I mean Reed arguably the best shooter in the class with connect he’s already a point guard he he understands the game tremendously well he comes from a basketball family and he’s just a guy that I Envision he’s a lunch pail guy he’s coming in every day putting in the hard work and I just see his transition to the league with his shooting ability and his ability to already run the point guard and set the table for his his uh you know his peers on the team right I just Envision him being a much better fit than uh Rob Dillingham and topic on the Spurs so yeah it’s Stefon Castle Far and Away number one guard for me Reed Shepard comes in at two and then those guys can you know jockey for three and four yeah doesn’t really matter to me that when you go there that far well well if it’s any uh constellation they had regas Vegas has Reed Shepard at uh plus 450 so he’s um the second guard so you got three-way time Vegas says topic Castle or or Dillingham and then right behind those three is Reed Shepard so looks like Vegas thinks the Spurs will go guard and that’s exactly what Spurs fans are talking about over at the locked on Spurs YouTube page and uh let’s start off with the first comment here Jack is from Haiti it says I’d be pissed if topic is selected at four that’s a strong statement there Haiti Jack would you be pissed if topic is selected at four knowing that maybe of all the guards in this draft he might have the highest ceiling I would not be pissed if just I’ve just been scared away it’s just everything that’s come out about Topic in the last three four months just none of it has been positive I mean back-to-back injuries I talked about the negative wingspan that everyone said he had a plus wingspan also like he’s just not he’s not a shooter he just he can’t really shoot the ball right now and while he does make up for that with his tremendous you know playmaking ability in the pick and roll he’s Far and Away the best pick and roll point guard in the league his shooting ability and then his lack of athleticism do scare me away I’m not sure how he’s going to Faire guarding you know the best guards in the west as our starting point guard yeah yeah like I cannot see him covering Steph Curry or sheay gildess Alexander or Kyrie like he’s gonna get torched he’s gonna get torched by those guys so I would not be pissed but you know we’re talking about not wanting a project and a lot of his game is going to come into you know that project level player he’s got to be gotta develop a better jump shot and he’s gota get quicker and stronger to be able to play defense on these guards so I wouldn’t be pissed but he’s you know he’s just not my top guy for us at this point yeah for me it’s just the health of that knee you I can I can see it busting up again or he takes a you know just being that constantly injured player and the Spurs can’t afford they already lost they already lost their big point guard with Josh Primo you know they tried with soan that didn’t work they tried with man guy it didn’t work they defaulted back to Trey Jones it worked but again Jones is not exactly what the Spurs need moving forward and topic again is a big guard but man Spurs are still hunting for that guard and maybe Castle is the guy this upcoming draft and speaking of Castle and we have another comment here this is from Al that’s that’s exactly what they say Al Al commented our number four pick Jack should either be Castle Shephard or Risha Shay the number eight pick should be either Dillingham topic or Cody Williams what do you think about his draft board well first off rash will not be there yeah he won’t yeah you swap him for Matas and yeah that’s probably the ideal uh you know three there for the fourth pick unless you know I I throw kinging in there too I’m intrigued by his size with wimy but I’m not really sure if he’s going to make it to four at this point either so yeah I mean I read I like him a lot I don’t like him as much as castle and Matas but if you know we took him at four I’d be a little upset because I think those other two guys probably have higher ceilings at eight I mean I don’t think I I mean I don’t want really topic or Dillingham Cody William I would absolutely take at eight I think he’s going to be a good NBA player he’s shot around like I want to say like 70 or 80% around the rim this year and he doesn’t even weigh 200 pounds so once he gets an NBA body in a man’s body he could be a pretty deadly player because he’s already got a jump shot he’s a super lengthy guy so defense he’s going to be able to hold his own with his length and athleticism so yeah I I like Cody Williams a lot at eight but I would have definitely guys of head at eight for our big board over topic and Dillingham probably Devin Carter I would take over both of them at eight yeah exactly and you know for I’m looking at Al’s comment here if that’s his draft board look if R is there at four you you grab him but that ain’t going to happen it ain’t going to happen it ain’t going to happen so if it’s between Castle Shephard man I may lean Castle just because I think he might able to do more on both ends of the Court than Shephard can uh if it’s number eight and his back look big board is deli ham topic Cody Williams with just those three I’m gonna go with Cody yeah I mean a draft if we were just using his board and we ended up with castle and Cody Williams that’s an amazing that’s an amazing draft for the Spurs phly two needs guard and player that can defend shoot and attack so yeah I think if just using his board if we ended up with castle and Cody Williams I would be EA ecstatic about how the draft turned out for the Spurs and the long-term prospects of both of those players are are definitely high so yeah I I would I would love that no doubt about that absolutely all right thank you for leaving those comments everybody keep them coming we need your help during the long off season and look
