Latest Intel on the NBA Draft π§ π | New No. 1 Pick?! π | UConn, Indiana
let’s talk about the draft we are now almost a week away and last week we did a first segment NBA draft Intel we’re going to do that again this week it’s just a collection of what I’m hearing in the last seven days and rund down some of the news and and and rumors that could be impacting everyone’s mock draft let’s start with the Atlanta Hawks the team that has the number one pick in the draft well Alex sawar may be the betting favorite uh to be the number one overall pick but in the last few days you’re hearing a lot of rumor that it may not be SAR whose name is picked first in fact there’s some rumors that Atlanta has cooled on SAR preferring players like Zachary reash maybe Donan kingan even Reed sheeper uh but it will be interesting to see exactly what happens there you’re hearing that sar’s representation may even not favor Atlanta so exactly where these rumors are coming from we don’t quite yet know but we do know that there is now a steady diet of Intel suggesting that alexar is not the no-brainer that many people expect for Atlanta my pick to go number one overall in my most recent mock on CBS sports.com is the player you just watched and that’s Zachary reace but I want to make it very clear we don’t know who’s gonna go number one yet as I said Atlanta they’re belief to like Rees aay he’s worked out there they’re belief to like Clingan he worked out there Steph Castle is expected to come in and work out Reed Shepard is another one that I’m hearing that they are they are high on Modest buellis is uh into workout so you’ve got at least six prospects who Atlanta has brought into workout they are doing their dueil on a wide number of players and that is to be expected for a team that was not anticipating being in this position remember they were the big winners on on the on the draft lottery night now they find themselves with the number one pick you also cannot count out the potential for trades I think there’s a lot of scenarios there where they could potentially trade down especially if SAR is not the guy that they want speaking of the trade rumors Donovan kingan is g to be one of the more interesting players to watch in this draft there are couple of teams that are being very active trying to trade up to draft the Yukon big man Memphis and Chicago in particular I am hearing are making uh significant attempts to move up to a position where they could draft kingan now this is interesting because as we said last week while kingan is an option for Atlanta at one and he’s an option for Washington at two there’s a variety of places inside the top seven that are not expected to be potential destinations for him specifically because they already have their centers of the future he’s not going to go to Houston where they have alpr senon he’s not going to go to San Antonio where they have Victor wanyama he’s not going to go to Charlotte where they have Mark Williams or at least that’s what the Intel’s telling us now so that puts us in a position where we say all right maybe he goes one maybe he goes two maybe there’s a trade whether Atlanta trades down or Memphis and Chicago trades up putting them in a position to to deal for him potentially Houston at three that’s somebody to watch but if nothing happens as I said last week it is conceivable that he slips all the way to seven and what a break that would be for Portland to be able to land Donovan kingan but again the Intel is right now Chicago in Memphis making very clear attempts to move up in the draft with hopes of taking Kling and with Houston being a potential trade partner there that is certainly uh something to watch as it relates to Memphis Memphis is well known to be in the market for a big man just said they are trying to trade up they would love to get Donovan kinging but if they can’t trade up I’m hearing they could be open to trading down two prospects that have reportedly had good workouts for them Purdue Zack Edy and Indiana’s CLE wear now Indiana’s kware has been one of the most polarizing prospects over the years remember he was a five-star Prospect out of high school went to Oregon began in the starting lineup but eventually fell out of the rotation went into the transfer portal last year transferred to Indiana and really played some of his best basketball this season he ended up uh finishing playing uh putting up great numbers in the T half of the season and now you’re seeing him start to climb up NBA mock drafts now the intel on wear is very much the same as it has been since high school a kind of a high-risk High reward proposition if everything clicks there just aren’t a whole lot of seven-footers who have his tools you’re talking about somebody who can move he can run he can jump he can catch he’s got touch that goes out to the three-point line so supposedly had a good workout in Memphis they can’t trade up for Donovan kingan maybe they trade down and look at kle wear again Zach Edy another one who supposedly worked out well in Memphis so I would expect Memphis to be very active here in the next eight days again exploring opportunities to both trade up or trade down in hopes of maximizing their assets and coming up with their big man of the future all right for the latest in the NBA draft Intel and my latest mock draft you can visit cbssports.com uh we have everything there you can also Risacher X Jalen Johnson would be special to build around. Maybe a Tatum Brown situation ππ½
Hawks trying to shop the 1 pick I don't think anyone is going to bite
Smokescreen
Let Sarr fall so Blazers have a chance at trading for him
Clingan number 1, Risacher number 2 and Alex number 3….PERIOD
Devin Carter is the name to watch fly up the draft boards.
Definitely interesting for Memphis. I know for a fact Memphis has had private workouts with all three of the top guys, so I think that might have a contingency trade in place. Otherwise it makes no sense for those agents to have their guys in. Just not sure what Memphis could trade that would make sense.
If I'm a franchise manager in the top 10 picks, I'll be cautious about drafting French players this year. Here's why: The hype around French players is largely driven by Victor Wembanyama's success. However, this year's draft class is generally considered weak, and many French players might not live up to the expectations. Last year, several French players were drafted due to the hype, but only Wembanyama performed well, with many others considered busts. This trend seems to be continuing this year. Many analysts, potentially influenced by paid promotions, are hyping French players again. But my advice is to look beyond the hype. For example, if you're seeking a center, consider Donovan Clingan over Alexandre Sarr. For other positions, Stephan Castle could be a better choice than some of the top-rated French players. Trust me, the NBA's push for French players this year might not be justified; many of them are not as strong as advertised. Focus on solid prospects and make informed decisions to avoid falling into the hype trap.
I like Donovan to Detroit trade wiseman and Ivey for a nice 2 guard that could also play the 3
Sarr not working out for Atlanta is a huge red flag for this organization. I am starting to see a pattern here with players who do not want rio come to Atlanta, via trades or the draft. So this guy would rather go to the Wizards than the Hawks and be the number one pick.
When Wizards fans are trolling, the Hawks have officially hit rock=bottom.
