#Rockets & Grizzlies potential draft day trade: (via @KellyIko) HOU trades: pick #3 MEM trades: Marcus Smart Pick #9 Future assets – Both Rafael Stone and Ime Udoka are fans of Marcus Smart. – Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht has fans within the Rockets organization.
This is the trade I hope for with grizzlies and number 3 pick. Throw in Malik Monk and we have a pretty strong second unit.

I prob shouldn’t take this seriously bc I don’t think Iko has any real intel on the rockets FO. But why exactly would we do this trade? To bring smart off the bench? Or to bring Jalen off the bench in a year where we are suppose to be finding out what he can be in this league before his contract expires?
Doesn’t make sense to me

Drop to 9 in the weakest draft in recent history. In return pick up a guy that while oft injured last year, was in talks of being the dpoy as a guard not that long ago?
Is Memphis just that much in love with Clingan or Reed?

I like Smart, but what exactly does he provide to our core that we don’t have already?
Plus he’s always injured
I’d much rather pick at 3.

I wonder what the salary match would be in this trade…I doubt Dillon Brooks or Steven Adams! 😂
I’d guess Jeff and Jock?
Marcus Smart definitely qualifies as “an Ime guy”, yeah?

I worry Smart would feel like he has to be the hero on offense. But if he accepted his role off the bench as a stopper, I’d be fine with it.

I rate Knecht. He’s big, athletic, and can put the ball on the floor. A lot more upside than people assume just because he’s old and white

No thanks. Smart can stay where he is

I honestly wouldn’t mind Smart but I’d prefer Kennard just because of his shooting ability. That’s what we desperately need. Not more defenders. We get Tari back along with Adams we’ll be one of the top defenses in the league. We need shooting though.

No thanks, we need better 3 point shooting than what MS can provide to Houston. Knecht is nice, but he doesn’t play defense.

I don’t love this trade

I would be okay with this. Kennecht is a bigger guy and I think he has better long term prospects in the NBA. Sort of reminds me of Bogdonavich from the Hawks.

I like it but for some reason I see Knect as Spurs guy and they are taking him with the 8th pick.

Doesn’t this affect Amen?

It’s not safe to secure Knecht at #9, he might already be selected by then
NoPickles
I don’t hate this trade.

i’m the only one who loves this trade it seems. if smart comes off the bench as our 6th man, i’d love a lineup of smart, cam, amen, tari, and adams. If we can draft knect and a lob threat of some sort in the 2nd round for a very cheap contract, i’d say that’s a great playoff roster

Love it

I think Smart is good. But if Holiday leaves then we need to find a good shooter over a great defender. He’s a good leader, but we pretty much have that with Dillion.
