Guerilla Hoops – Denver | Nuggets’ offseason decisions loom
[Music] hey hey welcome back live moods here with another episode of Hoops your daddy I promised that we would have continued content coming your way this morning if you guys are hanging out with me we did a little gorilla Sports Daily where we talked about some of the Hot Topics in sports right now and now we get to chat about the Denver Nuggets our beloved Denver Nuggets who stopped playing ended their season a little quicker than I would have liked but nonetheless still love my nuggets and there’s surprisingly a lot to talk about in the off season it never ends it feels like you go from one season straight to the next there’s a lot of things going on and I’ve already got people popping in the chat my OG you are always here first I don’t know if you have notifications on or something whatever it is I appreciate it thank you for being here um we’ve got some stuff to discuss I’ve got really two topics that I want to talk about today the first one being a little bit of drama in ball Arena drama within the Denver Nuggets organization and by drama I mean legal drama whoa I know sounds insane but it’s the truth um I’m going to let everyone know come hang for the second time today here we go don’t you love that don’t you love that um legal drama happening with the Denver Nuggets whoa spill the tea live I will don’t worry and then we’re going to talk about three letters that mean a lot to me no it’s not MVP it’s kcp okay there’s some things to discuss here with kcp I know you guys have seen the Rumblings I know you’ve seen what’s being talked about we got to dive into kcp because I have some strong thoughts okay but let’s start with the legal drama I might be like for the first time ever telling you guys something that you had no idea about long story short um actually I never say a long story short I’m gonna always say matter of fact I think I say a short story long most of the time that’s just that’s my brand so get used to it do you know a man that goes by the name of Andre Benson I’m sure you don’t I didn’t but the Denver Nuggets definitely do yes okay here’s what happened December 8th which would have been in the season right Andre Benson claims I’m going to use the word claim because I’m going to use the correct legal verbage here and then I’m going to throw in my opinion not actually knowing what’s going on of course Andre Benson claims that a nuggets employee argued with him about whether he belonged in his front row seat now that is a big word to me how does one know whether or not somebody belongs in a front row seat I’m not even going to tell you a thing about any background who is who is Andre Benson none of that cuz it’s completely irrelevant to the the story okay how does one belong in a front row seat it’s pretty simple if I bought the ticket my cheeks are going in said seat period what is this belonging nonsense that’s a very specific word in my opinion it would be one it would be one thing if Andre claims that a nuggets employee had an attitude and ripped his ticket out of his hand to look at his ticket no he used the word belonged something about that word feels a little like huh okay so there was a bit of an altercation because do you belong in your front row seat um excuse me who are you speaking to that’s how I would have responded then the baller the ball the baller the ball Arena employee notified security to follow up on the situation on whether or not he belonged in his seat I need to be a fly on the wall here because isn’t it is it as simple as checking the ticket I don’t understand what’s what’s happening what am I missing in this story I don’t know this is all I’ve got he claims that he was spoken to in a very aggressive manner condescending as well and you know what that right there let’s check if you belong in your seat and you have a condescending tone somebody’s getting throat punched I’m just saying it’s like a grown man calling another grown man buddy you don’t do it stay away from that it’s just like now with the whole buddy thing I think there’s a lot of people that just like use that as like a like you know it’s like playful I know a lot of people that take offense to that actually the condescending ma the condescending manner in which they were checking if he belonged in his seat doesn’t feel right okay he felt and this is in quot ation so I’m going to say say it that way an implied threat of physical harm what what was said what was done I don’t know there has to be I’m going to get to why but there has to be more there has to be evidence there has to be security footage okay he went to social media with a video a selfie video and claims that he was racially profiled okay so now I just told you what racy is before that I didn’t say a word about it racially Prof I didn’t actually tell you what race is but you know that he is of probably the opposite race of the person that was speaking to him sideways or maybe not actually let me not go there because it’s everywhere Pro profiling it’s on both sides it’s with he it’s this group that group it’s everywhere nonetheless he has now filed suit on May 28th to Colorado State Court what here’s what I’m going to tell you about this Andre Benson versus crony sports and entertainment LLC excuse me this man has to have something he’s got to have proof video something going head-to-head with crony might be the ballsiest thing you could ever do I would never unless I thought I could win oo I’m just saying he is looking for $100,000 in Damages he’s got to have something he’s got to have some type of evidence some type of something because crony you want to go head-to-head with Kony I’m sorry no thank you personally um I’m good but wow okay so now there’s a little bit of legal issues going on here with the Denver Broncos kon’s got some things that he’s got to handle because before Andre Benson according to my reports here before he took it to court he tried to actually just verbally attempt to settle this situation and he was dismissed per his verbiage so that prompted him to take matters to court and his suit is claiming discrimination in public and intentional infliction of emotional distress wow that that feels heavy like you got to know Kony is You Know Rich for a reason okay this man is not stupid far from it very intelligent I would assume that Andre Benson knows who crony is I would really hope he does I would really hope he knows what he’s getting in himself involved in but to ask for $100,000 in Damages and to make such a large claim and go head-to-head versus crony there’s got to be something point me to the receipts I want to see them now um again I don’t know the whole story I don’t know if this guy was was um being sensitive I don’t know if he was just having a bad day I don’t know if he took things a little too personally I also don’t know if maybe whoever was he was dealing with was being an outright a-hole um and was super out of pocket and needs to be checked we don’t behave this way in Denver Colorado get real we are very kind we are cool we are easy going okay so if somebody in baller baller dear God if somebody in ball Arena needs to be checked let’s check them okay um and let’s be real crony coming up off of $100,000 is nothing so he may just say shush up with all of it I’m done here’s your money let’s move on in which case Andre Benson walks away with a few more few more dollars in his pocket either way I just thought it was crazy I was reading about it I’m like going against crony just would never feel good to me unless I knew for a fact like I’m winning this thing so there’s got to be something we don’t know who knows they have freaking video cameras on every square inch of ballarina there’s got to be some type of evidence here please so anyway that’s the first look little cup of tea I wouldn’t say that that’s super piping hot it’s been sitting out of the microwave for 15 minutes still hot but not you know piping let’s talk about the piping hot tea though kcp what the f are we going to do don’t panic Don’t Panic I’m panicking no don’t panic if you don’t know there is Rumblings okay about kcp opting out of his cont contract which I think many of us knew free agency is looming and kcp wants some dough can the Nuggets give kcp what he wants I don’t know the answer to that question but what I do know is the nuggets are trying okay person some reports Denver does not want kcp entering free agency come July 1st they don’t want it they are trying to find a solution God Bless America now I talked a little while ago about Aaron Gordon and Nicole leic being the only safe players in the off season to me I said this because oh and you guys are going to hate me I I don’t want to do this because I am a I am a part of a Denver sports fan base and culture and and podcast but but I also know that live moods doesn’t like I cannot BS you guys okay so here’s what I’m going to tell you oh you’re going to hate me bear with me folks please I’m begging Aaron Gordon and yic to me are the only safe guys okay I’m going to just start there in my brain that’s how I see it do I want this starting five all mashed up switched up moved around no I don’t no I don’t okay don’t want that at all however if we were to start playing chess with some of the Nuggets players to me leave Ag and Nicole yic alone because when those two guys are on it feels like an Unstoppable team okay stay with me Jamal Murray inconsistent if you want to blame the injuries go for it I’m with you injuries definitely make an impact but he’s injured a lot okay so if we’re playing chess I’m looking at longevity here I’m looking at how often can we get you or are you going to be on the bench you’re injured a lot you’re liability a little bit and then when you do play ooh still little inconsistent okay here’s where you’re going to really hate me please don’t misunderstand what I am about to say Jamal Murray is a fantastic basketball player one of the clutchest do I think if done correctly the could be okay without Jamal Murray yes I do oh my gosh oh my gosh I know it’s sick and twisted it really is Jamal in his own right is one of one but are there other Jamal Murray esque players out there yes yes there are there are okay okay there are Aaron Gordon to me who goes body to body with just about anybody has that physicality like none other it’s just a freaking strong dude we got a lot of little soft Wetzel pretzels in this league I’m just saying charman Ultra Soft out there lots of it so AG keep him we need that energy yic speaks for itself three time MVP you’re you’re know can can a Jamal Murray sort of kind of be replicated maybe maybe I’m just saying I know I know so so that I’m explaining why I said AG yic good okay now mpj mpj’s size makes him extra special extra valuable right in my opinion um cuz he’s big right and we saw him last season in the playoffs with with not as great offense um compared to what we’ve seen from him from his three-point shots whatever he was a little cold last season in the postseason last last season Championship season but we saw him defensively making a lot of trouble for teams which was excellent he was attacking the glass oh he was crashing the boards he was getting after it defense L which was like okay we don’t need you offensively aside from his size and this year’s postseason again we’ve dealt with injuries and inconsistency by mpj okay so could you find another mpjs energy for this starting fight you could I’m sorry you could do I want it no I’m just explaining why I said Ag and joic were the were the Untouchable ones in the off season which again you look at the numbers what is she talking about is she a or is she under the influence of a beverage don’t know um just kidding I do know I am under the influence of a beverage but it happens to be a Starbucks so everyone settle down all that to say that is why I made those comments I think you could find again the size piece makes it a little bit trickier but you could find an mpj in my opinion you could find a Jamal Murray I feel differently about Ag and yic now let’s jump to kcp cuz that’s really the conversation we need to have right now you know those players on teams that aren’t the Stars aren’t the X factors but you wouldn’t win games without them kcp has entered the chat folks kcp has entered the chat there’s a lot of things I love about kcp first I’m just going to say it I have met him before and he’s just a very kind human this is my problem you guys I get soft spots for players and then I’m I choose to overlook just about everything else right kcp to me brings that veteran cool calm collected energy that I think the Nuggets need actually I think kcp is largely responsible for the Nuggets ability to never get rattled never get rattled he was one of the guys telling Jamal keep taking your shot that’s your shot eventually it will land keep taking it I think kcp from a chemistry standpoint is everything for this nuggets team everything okay Cedric I hope you’re right I hope you’re right kcp from an energy standpoint mandatory mandatory Okay so we’ve seen kcp have really great moments that dude can light it up from the three-point line out of nowhere and you’re like oh okay there he is defensively I think non nuggets ball Watchers forget kcp he can cause a lot of trouble for a lot of players in the league defensively that man is a secret weapon okay I don’t want him going anywhere Tyler couldn’t have said it better myself glue guy you pull kyp out of this you may as well start from scratch I’m actually serious this is how I feel if kyp cannot return my stomach just growled so loud I got to go to can’s or something why am I always this woman is always talking about food on this show yes I know how to eat all right Kane sounds delicious and I might f up in and out again you heard it here first okay let me get back on track here you remove kcp from the Nuggets equation in my opinion go ahead and remove Jamal and mpj to whoa shush no I’m serious because he’s the glue guy he is holding this whole thing together I really really feel that way about kcp I’ve already said it I don’t want to take away from who Jamal Murray is as a player he is clutch he is electric he’s incredible and he’s been incredible in many many moments for the Denver Nuggets but he also can be an injury liability can be inconsistent and I think can be replicated not completely but I think the nuggets would be okay maybe not right away you remove kcp from the equation I think it’s in your best interest to also figure out around Aaron Gordon and Nicole AIC what the rest of that starting five looks like because to me he’s the glue so if you plan on wetting that glue and ripping things apart then you may as well just go ahead and hit refresh around Ag and yic I know I haven’t forgotten about all the great things Jamal Murray has done I haven’t I haven’t okay but let me ask you this is there aspects of Jamal Murray’s game that can be replicated the answer is yes there are very few players that are one of one that have that special something okay that is not to deny Jamal Murray of what he has done for the Denver Nuggets it’s just saying could we find this cheaper elsewhere maybe maybe we could don’t know mpj same thing but his size is everything yeah I mean the size makes him a bit unique but two injuries inconsistencies we’ve seen it with both of them um unless you trade Murray for Luca I don’t know who else you could get Donovan Mitchell question mark I don’t know either I haven’t thought that far ahead I I more am just saying that without kcp I feel like you’re kind of dismantling it’s not just okay where do we replace who do we replace kcp with I don’t think you do I think if you dismantle with kcp in the equation you got we almost have to do a little bit of a refresh situation that’s truly how I feel so kcp to me you either keep this starting five intact or you lose kcp and you truly need to hit refresh I know sick and twisted I know I know I know I know am I hearing this correctly this is a hot take for sure yes I feel this way please don’t misunderstand what I’m saying Jamal Murray is a phenomenal player and I love him and I don’t want him going anywhere my point though is is you you if we’re going to start doing this with the glue guy if the glue guy goes I don’t know chat get in here and let me know what you’re thinking because maybe is she cucko for Cocoa Puffs well yeah you guys already know that that’s a fact that’s been a fact is she cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs yes she is she’s she always has been but what do you think am I saying craziness am I spewing nothing but craziness or have you thought about the fact that the Nuggets could survive without Jamal Murray could survive without mpj we don’t want it we don’t like it but is it possible would they survive maybe I don’t know I’d rather just keep our starting five together find a backup big for yic and I don’t know maybe get Bruce Brown back just saying so there you go that’s where I’m at I don’t want to see it I don’t want to start dismantling I don’t want to take the glue guy away and start you know moving thing I don’t want that I’d rather not but if we do we can start actually from square one square three actually because Ag and yic are in square one and two okay so there you go so chat what’s up like what are we thinking is she cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs yes to answer your question yes she is um you guys already know this nobody’s surprised but does she also have a point I don’t know I need you to tell me that I always think I have good points that’s why I never stop talking but maybe my points are actually trash right now and I should stop talking I don’t know um I don’t know I don’t know I’m not kgoo okay that’s good to know makes me feel a little bit better you guys I know it sounds crazy but let’s not pretend like crazier things haven’t happened in this league okay there’s crazy things that happen all the time all the time um you’re making a good point the glue guys are very important but Jamal Murray on another team hurts it does and I like I said I don’t want to see it I don’t no thank you but all I’m saying is I don’t like this starting five anymore if kcp is out of the equation you take away the glue guy you remove kcp well then let’s start playing chess uhoh because there’s a few starting five members that have been wildly inconsistent have injury liability and I think can be licated so take away the glue guy you don’t find a way to keep kcp it’s time to play chess baby get ready that’s how I feel you’re one of the only Sports brains I listen to which may be biased because I’ve known you for so long but I do think you’re spot on with this I appreciate that and I also appreciate when you guys tell me that I’m super not spot on and you’re like live I love you been following you for a while but you sound like an idiot um I am a very self-aware individual but at times I may get you know I don’t know if if I if I think something is like I I’m very stubborn as well so like my truth feels like my truth no matter what but I am willing to listen to the crowd listen to the people and say you know what they’ve got a point I maybe need to I maybe need to draw back a little bit okay so I get it um and like I said you guys I don’t want any of that I don’t want it perfect world you keep that starting five together and and you bring Bruce back home bring him back what’s he doing out there can’t be having more fun than he was when he was a nugget no way I mean bring it back Bruce if you’re listening bring your ass home I’m just saying um so perfect world keep the starting five bring back Bruce Brown come on and back up big doesn’t need to be amazing just needs to be better than what we’ve got at the moment no offense we got to get Bruce back I don’t I know it what a story oh my gosh picture this oh my gosh I have you guys so dramatic I just got Goosebumps all over she’s a drama queen picture this 2025 NBA champions are the Denver Nuggets and Bruce Brown is back on the roster I mean come on get with the program music to my ears stunning beautiful amazing fabulous I want all of it 2025 Champions Bruce Brown back in Denver come [Music] on Kevan Looney is about to get oo and I don’t mind Looney oh I do not Looney to me is a sneaky little number because there were moments in there where Looney was actually doing what he needed to do I just think honestly the Warriors are a dumpster fire they got to get rid of a lot of things over there I think they’re trying to hold on to the OG you know like oh like the dynasty it’s dead six feet underground oopsies we’ve already attended the funeral time to move on like seriously the Warriors time to hit refresh like yesterday okay um so I would not be opposed to a little Looney over down in Denver wouldn’t at all uh that’s not a bad one the Warriors need to clean house agreed like the Warriors it was so good while it lasted it really was like one of the most fun teams to watch the dynasty um the Splash Brothers come on I mean it was just fabulous and then it went to crap and I you know what in all fairness I think we know why it went to crap I think that onc Court Persona I’m not even going to I’m not even going to name drop because you know what I’m talking about that oncourt Persona became personality became character and then started to clash with team members started to affect the game um started to put the success of the team In Harm’s Way you can’t there’s there’s not a whole lot you can do with that okay so there you go Klay Thompson to the nuggets live no thanks I love Klay Thompson but I think that maybe it’s time to just say it’s been a ride fellas I don’t know I I I mean we’ve seen two seasons back to back now where I’ve just been like o going out sad like maybe it’s just you know before it gets too bad I think it might just be time for him to say I am him I’ve been him and I don’t want people to forget I’m him and right now they might be forgetting cuz what’s going on scary hours jump scare so I don’t think I would love that you’re right he has been but I I I also think it’s gotten a little like again Draymond for a long time was a player that I think think people would describe in a way of you love him on your team you hate him you hate playing against him but you love playing with him right like he’s got that energy but then he started affecting his own teammates now it’s inhouse it’s one thing to be Scrappy on the streets with the with the enemies but to to do it inh house with your own people oh I don’t think so that’s where we started getting dicey with it that’s what I’m saying he stopped knowing when to cut off that Persona that energy that like I’m this villain in this league I do XY and Z then it just it was following him everywhere and I don’t know the backstory of all of the different things that have happened with his own teammates and whatnot all I know is you bring it in house now you’ve got messes to clean up and you’re still trying to go against your competition and you’ve got tons of messes in your own damn house we started playing a rough game there with the Warriors that’s just not going to work that’s too tough so yeah I think that there were there were things that started to make it really tough to be successful yeah I mean having him on your team is great but again it started to become a negative thing again he’s a he’s an X-Factor in a lot of ways for the Warriors and has been for some time but how can you be an exactor from the locker room come on you got to play smart ball your team needs you and you’re doing things you know are going to put you in the locker room come on now when it started to affect his own people that’s when it was like okay you’re doing things that are going to be hard to come back from that’s just that’s just the way it goes so I’ve been a fan of Draymond Green for a long time um and I think that he is a historic player that we’ll talk about um his style of play is very unique to him and and whether we like it whether we want to admit it out loud or not he’s entertaining very so love him for that definitely but I do think he he’s he’s caused some harm to the Warriors over the last few years I do and that’s tough because he’s been such a crucial piece to the puzzle for so long that it’s tough it’s tough clay needs to realize that he is not the same player he was before and that’s okay right I mean you can’t be phenomenal forever right with age don’t you start to like see a little bit of regression we got to be okay with that regression don’t fight it don’t fight it clay it is what it is probably doesn’t feel good but you know you’re the splash Uncle now not the brother and that’s okay Splash onk clay just take it it is what it is you don’t have the same game you used to and that’s okay that’s okay Klay Thompson unfollowed the warriors on Instagram some might say we oh you guys overthink everything you know how many you know how many steps you have to go through sometimes to go unfollow people like that doesn’t usually just happen by chance you have to like you have to go out of your way to unfollow someone most of the time what does that mean for clay I don’t know where is he headed in my opinion vacation I I mean honestly clay you’ve done it you did your thing you are him leave it at that before we start forgetting that you were him just saying if clay goes to Orlando what if y’all try and get Jaylen I haven’t thought about that I don’t think much about Orlando to be honest but you might be on to something there like I said in a perfect world you guys leave the starting five alone I feel that way I feel strongly about that leave the starting five alone but if you pull the glue man away from this squad AKA kcp you’ve dismantled the whole science fair project and you may as well stomp it and start over that was a whack analogy but that’s how I feel so okay I think that’s it for today’s episode really wanted to talk about the Tea of um the lawsuit gasp not the Denver Nuggets we don’t get into trouble we’re very humble modest and kind but apparently there are some ball Arena employees that are on some weird Behavior don’t know what that’s about um but yeah the tea of the Lost suit and then the te of casy P stay put I’m not playing because we already lost Bruce we cannot lose you too I will cry I think truly tears will form I will be dramatic it will be a whole thing so let’s just stay where we’re at yeah okay thanks anyway this has been another episode of Hoops your daddy I am headed to a vacation next next week I leave tomorrow I am gone next week but when I get back we will have the continued gorilla Sports Daily in the morning as well as Hoops your daddy we’ll start getting a little
