that’s a lot of money just to scream a lot of bullshit on the tv

  2. We_there_yet

Not asione. Not asi two 3 4 5 6 7 or 8. This is ASININE!

  3. GraveRobberJ

The funniest timeline is ESPN just replacing Stephen A with Shannon Sharpe

  4. thy_armageddon

First Take with Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless gonna be crazy.

As Stephen A always tells us, he’s been number one for god knows how long, whether it’s him or the network his show is on, who knows…but I just don’t see him as some irreplaceable star of the show…But it’s clear he has a lot of stroke there which is partially why he’s so full of himself

I listen to a lot of ESPN while at work and this guy is easily the worst commentator. Sometimes he makes good points but not until he’s yelled over everyone first. The halftime show during the finals this year were unwatchable especially after shows like inside the nba existed

  7. Bouldershoulders12

Imagine someone gets paid millions to make misinformed brain dead takes with no facts or stats to back it up

  8. deflatethesack

SAS is the definition of hate watching. I’ve never met a person that likes him, or even doesn’t hate him really. They watch because they wanna see the dumb shit he says next. And he knows that, so he says more dumb shit and ESPN keeps paying him. Don’t hate the player hate the game I guess

  9. Dusty_Negatives

Get this fucking clown off the air. I don’t care about his hot take garbage shows but keep him off actual nba broadcasts please. Thanks.

  10. this guy is essentially an actor that ESPN is paying to play a character on sports talk shows

that’s what sports analysis has become

  11. LaLaLaDooo

I change the channel every time he appears on my TV.

  12. cooking2024

Honestly good for him if he gets it. Always a fan of the actual work force getting the money.

Sports media is also in an interesting place that allows stephen a a ton of leverage. The young up and coming talent that would normally replace him when he got too expensive just doesn’t want the espn/disney restraints unless it’s for a crazy amount of money like Pat Mcafee. I think it’s a problem because these old dudes are just terrible, they have been doing this for so long, they don’t watch the games, they give super lazy takes, and at one point people are just going to turn that bs off. You see it happening with Skip. Wouldn’t be surprised when it happens to some of these other old guys.

ESPN having a near monopoly on sports media was one of the worst mistakes ever

  14. TheRealJohnMara

In all honesty if SAS isn’t on ESPN he becomes pretty irrelevant and I don’t see who else would pay that much for him.

  15. yanks1580

Every celebrity has fans and people that hate them.

But, who likes this guy? Seriously, i have never ever met a SAS fan. No one, ever. Why is he worth anything?

  16. DolphinSouvlaki

The NBA Finals can’t have the in-arena player intros anymore, but it can have Stephen A walking through the tunnel showing off his outfit.

What happened to the game I love

  17. Lopsided-Pickle-892

Please get this guy off the network! Terrible viewing experience every time he is on.

  18. ethereal3xp

I think ESPN waves bye before they give him 25m a year

He wouldn’t be even able to get 5m elsewhere

  19. beanohoho

Every sports fan would have a better life if Stephen A wasn’t on espn

  20. sanfranchristo

They aren’t competing with anyone for that amount. If there were ever a time to dig in, it’s now. Please, please, please let him walk.

  21. copaseticepiplectic

He brings in more money than he gets he deserves it

  22. Red_Jester-94

Honestly, considering how much of ESPN’s content is Stephen A Smith, I’m not surprised. He does almost everything from the different TV shows, radio, going to games, etc. he’s more than earned the right to name his price with how ESPN and the mouse have put almost everything on him.

  23. LobstaFarian2

I turn his show off as soon as it come on. Right after “Get Up”, I’m done lol

He just screams alot. It’s annoying.

  24. slimmymcnutty

It’s funny how Stephen As bloated salary forces ESPN to cut people who only cover one or two sports or specific teams. So they gotta make Stephen A talk about shit he’s got no idea about. Which just makes everything worse tv discourse wise

  25. KcoolClap

He is paid millions to not know what players play for which team, and to refuse to learn how to pronounce elite players names like Doncic, Wembanyama. Just embarrassing stuff from this clown.

  26. $70,000 sounds about right for that loud mouthed hack job

  27. bigmanlittlebike89

Get this clown off TV already.

This is the perfect opportunity to say, sorry that’s too much so no deal and then we watch as Smith can’t find a job at any other network because nobody likes him.

  28. He doesn’t get it – half his value is being on espn. No one will follow him to some other shit ass network.

  29. cizzlemydizzle

Let him walk ESPN I’m literally begging you

  30. CosmicOditty

They’ll make up for it by adding 20 more commercials during half time.

  31. AfterPaleontologist2

His ego has definitely gotten out of control lately. This would send him to an unbearable level

  32. qotsabama

If ESPN knows what’s good for them they should call his bluff. He also didn’t make first take lol.

  33. If they got rid of this loser I would watch espn straight up

  34. _Fun_At_Parties

They’ll be fine without him. Please move on

  35. Fabtacular1

    He shouldn’t be getting $7m.

Did nobody notice how Skip fell the fuck off after moving to Fox? There guys need ESPN more than ESPN needs them.

  36. StOnEy333

Good. Make him go away and banish him to the podcast world.

  37. Will_Vintage

Save the money and use it to go back to being good.

  38. hyborians

Hes a clown. But he’s no longer a likeable clown.
