NBA Trade Rumors: The Miami Heat should Trade for Brooke Lopez if he is available

[Music] one [Applause] [Music] shot welcome back to another episode of the team to beat Miami Heat podcast my name is Amir before I get into today’s episode I just want to thank everybody for following the podcast on Spotify also want to thank you for watching the videos on YouTube if you guys are watching on YouTube now don’t forget to like comment And subscribe so for today’s episode I want to talk about a report that came out on Twitter that I saw um regarding the Milwaukee Bucks so basically the report said that the Milwaukee Bucks may possibly move on from their starting center Brook Lopez and the reason they gave is because they wanted to change their identity on defense or something of that nature and I think that’s funny because once they gave up Drew holiday who’s now a two-time NBA champion for Damen Lillard they obviously knew that they were screwing up their identity in terms of Defense um because Drew holiday obviously one of the best defenders in the NBA paired with Giannis who’s one of the best defenders in the NBA and Brook Lopez gave them a top five defense and they plummeted once they got rid of Drew holiday and I guess with Brooke he’s just more of a rim protector he’s not really great on the perimeter he’s 7 foot one like 260 pounds so he’s really big uh he’s older now so he’s not he’s never really been very mobile anyway especially defensively but he is an amazing rim protector average 2.4 blocks per game last season um in his five years with the bucks he’s obviously won a championship and um he’s been all uh First Team all defensive NBA twice with the Bucks and he finished second in Deo last year so he’s a phenomenal Defender and I’m curious if you guys think that the Miami Heat should pursue him if he becomes available so Brook Lopez is 36 years old now like I mentioned he’s actually 7 foot one um 282 pounds actually so 22 more pounds that I said earlier um so he is a big presence obviously um and he’s also you know transitioned from a back to the basket type of player um early on in his career when he was with the the Nets averaging you know 20 and N um per game and you know not even taking a single three-point attempt I think like in his first six or seven seasons um and so he was more of a traditional Center but then once he got to I believe the Los Angeles Lakers he started taking some three-point attempts and then once he came to Milwaukee and completely converted into a uh a three-point threat um so he’s very capable he’s a 35% um from three% shooter from three um last season he averaged 12.5 points five rebounds 2.4 blocks um shot 48% from the field 36% from three and what do you shoot from the free throw line 82% from the free throw line so Brook Lopez I think would be a perfect fit next to Bam a bio bam can move back to his um preferred and traditional um spot which is power forward we know bam is in undersiz center right now at 6 foot n and I think Brooke would be a perfect fit because then he would be able to protect the paint defensively the Miami Heat were one of the bottom teams in terms of Rim protection last year and this would give bam the ability to play more out on their perimeter and if our backourt is going to be Terry and Tyler then we’re going to need some help there because both of those uh guards are not defensive minded and typically can get hunted for different reasons um so Bam could definitely help with rotations help on the perimeter help on the point of attack and allow Brook Lopez to sit and camp in the paint and protect the rim so defensively that would be huge the heat finished fifth and defense last season so that’s their identity but offensively he also brings another element we so far like we haven’t had any bigs in this lineup in the last four or five years that have been offensive minded we’ve had Dwayne deadmond we’ve had Cody Zeller we’ve had Thomas Bryant Orlando Robinson um not really effective um offensively during their uh time with the Miami Heat so bringing in someone who’s capable scoring 13 points and a former 20o um score in their career I think would help this team offensively because of the Miami Heat where I think 21st or 23rd uh in terms of offensive rating so that gives the Miami Heat a scoring element this gives someone who ability to the ability to stretch the floor to open up the paint for bam atab bio for Jimmy Butler and then also as soon as and also not as soon but as also bam has been improving his three-point shot so we’re going to have two guys who could spread the floor and including Duncan Robinson if he comes into the starting lineup or whenever he comes off the bench um that creates lanes for a Tyler hero for a Terry rier for a Jimmy Butler to get downhill and into the paint so I think Brook Lopez would be a really good fit on this team and right now he’s on an expiring contract next season he’s making uh I think like 23 million or 24 million for one year so for that we have to trade a Duncan Robinson perhaps um a Tyler hero if they’re willing to take on extra money um Terry roier makes around the same next year 24 25 so um not exactly sure who the Bucs would want but most likely we would have to trade like a Terry roier a Tyler hero or a Duncan Robinson and so are you guys willing to part ways with one of those guys for Lopez who’s 36 and it might be a one-year rental um could be a possibility um we’ll see but I would be open to it he’s a Fresno guy I grew up in Fresno and I play basketball with the Lopez brothers um growing up at the parks before they they moved on to Stanford and the NBA um and also another fun fact uh Brook Lopez’s mom was my high school math teacher so got to see them a lot growing up um so have always been a fan of the Lopez twins have been rooting for for them from afar so I think it would be really cool if he came and joined the Miami Heat and ended his career with my favorite team so I’m all for it um I just don’t know who would trade for um who I’m willing to give up at this moment but I think this Miami Heat team needs to make some sort of drastic change and this could be a good um opportunity to put a real big next to b b so let me know what you guys think about this possible trade if he does become available ailable hypothetically thanks for watching guys

The Milwaukee Bucks may trade Center Brooke Lopez this offseason. If he is indeed available via trade, the Miami Heat need to trade for him ASAP.

  1. Please don’t. Get Bol Bol or someone young like that. Bol can shoot better and he has better ball handling.

  2. Heat draft Zach Edey, Tristan da Silva, or trade down and get a future pick and DaRon Holmes. 2nd round Justin Edwards, ZYON Pullin, Keshad Johnson, or Antonio Reeves.Heat should try to get Donovan for Herro, Jaime and future first round picks. If not then we go get Dejounte Murray, Lauri Markkanen, sign and trade for Caleb or Highsmith, Herro, and/or future 1st picks. Zach Edey is NBA ready, great touch on offense, can pass out the double, and when you need an easy bucket. I can see Zach and Jimmy be like Shaq and Wade. Sign Jonas in free agency. I love this teams chance with the new roster after this move. If you trade Jimmy it has to be 5 first round draft pick and 2 young players. If you go for Lauri, you give herro, 2 future first round pick, and sign and trade Highsmith

Dejounte or Hunter Sallis or ZYON PULLIN, Keshad Johnson Terry or Malik Monk

    Niko Jaime

    Jimmy Duncan

    Bam Kevin Love

Zach Edey Jonas Val or Nic Claxton
