I’d argue Josh Green is way more valuable Guard player than Matisse Thybulle
WorkAccount1993
No thanks, green needs to stay.

Green is worth a lot more than Thybulle, and Grant is on a bad contract. No thanks.

While Grant is gifted. He’s not in his 20s anymore with $20m a year for 4 years.
IMHO he’s a good fit but a negative asset.

Aaaannd here come the trad proposals lol. Itās about that time

Hell No!! Thatās way to much to give up

I donāt see why youāre giving up a FRP on this trade.
Green is probably better player than Matisse, and younger, so youāre trading down on that.
Kleber is not some amazing asset but still slightly positive on that contract. THJ is a negative but an expiring.
Grant is a good player on a contract that is an overpay for the next 4 years most likely. So if itās a positive value contract it isnāt something amazing. The deal makes sense without the FRP imo.

In a silo Iād probably make this trade. But it all but removes our flexibility to resign DJJ. And I think those two players only push us over the top if DJJ returns.

i don’t get the subs obsession with thybule. all in on grant though. we have a 2 year window to be a true contender and after that we would have to retool around luka on supermax and lively on max. grant fits our time line.

I posted just to see the vast difference in fan opinions. Highest comment is the Blazers then the other half is “way too much for the Mavs to give up.” Think it’s clear why we aren’t GMs haha

I don’t really understand the Thybulle obsession here. Green is better than him
NoWayNotThisAgain
Grant at 30 million for 4 years is a mistake

I donāt like the 2 frp but otherwise Iād probably do it

Why would we want to get shorter ? maxi should only be considered in a trade that brings good length and shooting.

I appreciate your attempt at making a mock trade for Grant, I’ve been waiting for someone to weigh in on our subreddit. I think giving the first is definitely overpay here. Grant is a fine fit with us, but he is ultimately a negative asset (in Portland). It’s okay for us to overpay (salary-wise) for a 3rd option because that’s just how it works – getting a 3rd option wing who is a positive asset right now is virtually impossible for us with our lack of draft capital. Avdija is the only one I can think of that we could have a chance but I don’t think we can pull it off since the new management is not as dumb as before.
I’d remove Thybulle and Maxi from the trade and remove the 1st as well. Josh + Tim –> Grant would immediately make us better although hurts a little to lose Green. Portland gets off Grant’s contract while getting a young defensive SG/SF who spaces the floor and an expiring THJ.
Thybulle is definitely not what we need. He is a fantastic perimeter defender but what we don’t need is MORE defense. We need reliable shooters who can contribute positively to a defensive scheme with their frame and IQ. Getting a good offensive player on a bad team with the right body/frame to play better defense is much more feasible than getting a good defensive player to magically become better at offense.
If we can land Grant then the only other move I could think of is trying to land someone like Kispert from the Wizards to give us a fantastic movement 3pt shooter with the frame and agility to be a positive in our defensive scheme.

Can we make a league seasonal joke to get Seth Curry back to the mavericks LOL? grant williams and seth for thj

Would you add DJJ to the trade going to the Blazers? If the answer is no then realize that doing this trade means we lose DJJ so you might as well think of it as adding him in.

mavs say no, we don’t want to get tied into a long term contract paying big money for a role player. a move like this would keep us from keeping PJ and Gafford when their extension is due
