Thunder Signing Incoming? – OKC Linked to 3 and D Forward… | Thunder News
the Oklahoma City Thunder are looking to add some more size in this off season and it looks as though they may have found their guy who also played for the Bulls last season as quincent has it since we just traded for Alex kuso however this guy could add this size that we are missing at the fourth spot it’s just a question now of does he fit into OKC scheme and is he actually worth all this money we’re going to break it down here on Thunder digest today this is an article I found from the Oklahoma but before we get all this though want to say if you guys find yourself coming back on a regular basis and you enjoy the content here mean the world to me if you could just hit that subscribe button to show the support for this channel this is the best way to support it but that other the way we can go ahead and get into this video now and it’s another article from the Oklahoma all right you guys you know if you’re from Oklahoma you know this uh News website news article it’s kind of the main place for any of your Oklahoma News sports related anything you know regarding the state of Oklahoma it’s the you know main one to go after and so that’s where I’m getting majority these right now has a bunch of these major sites Hoops hyp clutch points Sports Illustrated all these places pleas report they not really talking about Patrick Williams however they are and they brought up some good points as well that a bunch of these places don’t ever necessarily bring up and that’s what we’re going to break down here and I’m just going to go ahead and give you the first piece of information here and this is written by Joel Lorenzi here um this is the first thing I found interesting without being an offense changing Airborne 7-footer Williams had a stellar year as an offensive rebounder before going down with a season ending injury in January he finished in Synergy 93rd percentile there he also shot 39.9% on 3.4 TS from three not so much a need as a requirement to thrive in the Oklahoma City offense he was f as a lower volume second side operating pick and roll ball handler he’s flashed Elite defense which is especially valuable given his mold the idea of Williams if the next chapter of his career is to see him rejuvenated is that he can be the next impactful Wing that changes team trajectory for OKC that means being the power forward that completes both sides of their operation and so that’s where I find it interesting all right they brought up the fact he can shoot the three ball and so they they brought up that fact he can shoot it he can be a wing player he’s 67 all right he’s not really the tallest guy in the world it’s the fact that he has a 611 or seven foot wingspan something around there it’s you know it’s one of those two numbers which gives him that extra reach when going up for boards and it will allow him to fight down low a little bit better that’s what it’s going to allow it to do it’s just a matter of every other aspect of his game does he really fit in and that’s where I found this next piece of information I’m going to show you in just a second here very interesting because it does raise a lot of questions and concerns for me when you think about this o OKC offense and it’s this right here virtually everyone ends up screening for the Thunder and sufficient data for Williams as a rle man is non-existent he had 11 such possessions last season before his season ended finishing in synergy’s first percentile as a pick and roll man that’s what really stresses me because this OKC offense is all about the pick and rolles and pick and Pops he finished in the 11 percentile a season earlier he finished his past season shooting an egregious 47.4% from two-point range that’s not good we love our efficient guys are going to shoot 50 55% from the field in general that’s what we want from everyone on our team but he’s shooting below that I’m not really enjoying it then I know you’d be there for defense and rebounding wise but you have to you know pick it up on the other end of the court if we can’t trust you to hit a shot there’s no reason for you to be on the court that’s why we got Caruso he can hit a shot we can trust him to hit a shot when we need him to uh if the hope is to blend into a team with drive and kick DNA the finishing is problematic like I just said there we need him to finish Dallas gave OKC a glimpse of how tough decision making windows could be with ball handlers like Lou Dort being run off the line yet even Dort shot 50% from two last season some interesting numbers there I keep on finding he’s not the most efficient guy in the world especially as you know a wing guy that’s going to be down low getting his majority of his points from two-point range he’s shooting below 50% I don’t like that I like like majority of our guys on our thir team they are efficient scorers they take shots they know they’re going to make it’s just with Patrick Williams it’s making it seem like there’s not a lot of shots he’s going to make that’s what it makes it seem like the other glaring issue I find is the pick and roll numbers the pick and pop numbers from him he rarely sets screens but you our offense is all about setting screens for our guy with the ball having him make a move and pick and pop situation with our five out style of play with Chad HR that’s what it’s all about if he’s not willing to set those screens the offense is just going to collapse like I just me mentioned defense won’t matter sure it’s going to help us out defensively going on the offensive end it’s just like getting Josh giddy all over again that’s what it looks like we can’t trust him to make a shot that’s why we got cruso is because we can trust him to make a shot when he is open Patrick Williams however he doesn’t fit into the offensive scheme that’s where it’s getting at and so that’s my big concern with him that is my biggest concern is offensively he’s not going to fit in that’s that’s the big thing for me and then there’s one other thing that’s you know it’s still big not nearly as big because of the amount of cap that we have but it is how much he’s worth $20 million annually would make Williams the uh 32nd highest paid forward in the league a hair above New York’s Boon bonovich considering where negotiations with Chicago reportedly ended it seems Williams feels he can command something between 18 and 20 million annually the Thunder’s alternative would be to provide an offer sheet that the Bulls wouldn’t be comfortable matching $20 million that might be too close $23 million which would earn Williams more annually than M Bridges and less than cam Johnson aspirations and projections aside Williams price could prove to be too Hefty for OKC to be comfortable with during such a significant off season that is where I get scared that right there is he worth way too much than what everyone thinks he is all right because to me he’s a guy that’s worth 12 to 15 million I’m going to be honest he’s not worth $20 million in my eyes and so seeing that you know $20 million is the low side is what it’s going to be 18 to 20 low side it seems like an overpay yes we have to spend that money however there are other guys I feel like that money is better spent using on if they’re not going to fit into our offensive style of play and Patrick Williams he just kind of doesn’t he doesn’t want to set screens everyone on our team sets screens Lou Dort sets screens jdub sets screens I’ve seen sh set screens all right if he’s not willing to do that and run our style offense I don’t see it working that’s my problem with it with the overpaying if you would fit and we’re going to take this shot on him you’ll assign him to like a two two or threee deal go ahead all right or a sign and trade for two years and then you know then he’s done go ahead I’m fine with that you know is if if it’s on a cheaper contract that’s where I’m getting at here there’s a lot of risk the more I look at him all right there’s a lot of risk going into this that I’m just not super comfortable on taking right now that’s the problem are are the is does the good outweigh the bad all right or is the bad outweighing the good it’s kind of like you know this scale all right it’s this balance scale that I’m just you know right now it’s right in the middle I can’t like there’s nothing really pushing one side over the other right now it’s right in the middle and it’s a risk and is like it mentioned in the article is this the headline move we want to make this off season is this really what we want to do that’s my question is this what’s really you know we believe going to take us over the top because right now what I’m looking like it might not seem like it but if we have to I’m fine with it all right if prey believes in him I believe in him ultimately all right prey has the final word and he knows what he’s doing he does there’s a ton of options out there if he believes this is the best one that’s going to win us a championship go ahead by all means do it and we’ll see if it works out we will it’s just my eyes I don’t see see it working out but that’s all I got for this video let me know down in the comment section what you guys think if you think you know I’m overreacting to the amount of screens that he actually does set if you know if you guys aren’t worried about that because personally I am it’s our style of offense we set screens pick and pop pick and roll all the time so let me know down in the comments if you’re worried about that at all or if you guys think I’m just overreacting and I’ll see you guys in the next video

I feel like its reasonable to be concerned about the screens, but personally i think its more billy donovan than pw, when billy was our coach, our offense was extremely bland and predictable
Ur new look is cool but the volume seem to have got lower
i think PW would be a great, cheap player to get. i think they need someone like clax or JV more, but that is not bad at all.
Kyle kuzma or Lauri markannen is what we need more, a 2nd scorer alongside shai and especially since giddey is gone now. I think the wizards would accept 1-2 picks and ous dieng for kuzma and the jazz would accept 4 picks, Aaron Wiggins and kendrich Williams for lauri markkanen, only go for patrick williams if he's worth 17-18 per year.
