What will the Nuggets look like after the NBA Draft Night?

[Music] the season is over thank God for that hello everybody and welcome to the 998th episode of the longest tenure the Denver Nuggets spin-off podcast in the world welcome to the dmvr nuggets’ Serbian Corner my name is Muk and I have a little announcement to make uh I was waiting uh and teasing about this for several months now the next show will be the last one oh oh sorry I shouldn’t have put a full stop there in my notes the next show will be the last show before my little summer break three weekends after that I will spend on my summer vacation just to piss off Maris and the rest of the hardworking Americans who couldn’t imagine having a 16 days uh long vacation but after that on July 27th I will start a new season of summertime Denver Nuggets game shows and this time it will be two months long if you want to guarantee yourself a game show appearance or two or three depending if you’re winning or not this summer you should become a patreon supporter at patreon.com Miroslav cuk and just to make it clear you don’t have to be a guest if you are a patreon supporter this is not mandatory community service you get for public urination or similar misdemeanors okay with the announcement out of the way and I think that one went uh pretty well it is time for me to congratulate the Celtics for winning their 18 Championship which is also their fifth one since the three-point shot was introduced to the league 45 years ago and this might sound like a slight against the Celtics but at least they didn’t win several championships playing in Minneapolis where the actual lake is next Bogan and boban join Nikola yic in somore for some horse races and parties and I want to make one thing clear boban is not among the players competing for the 12 spots at the Olympics but I would still love to see him on the bench as the equipment manager or something and don’t worry boban you won’t be thrown under the bus if the team doesn’t win the gold medal we don’t have Yannis on the team so the equipment managers are safe we are four days away from the NBA draft the nuggets have the 28th and the 57th draft picks and they also have Five Guys entering their second or third NBA season on long-term deals so I’m not sure they should be adding more young talent but what do I know I know nothing about the draft and Prospects around the corner but you don’t want the guy who knows everything what you want is a guy who knows a guy and even better one who knows several guys who know their draft stuff but before talking about draft my original co-host a doctor of science a postdoc graduate and doctor of pick and roll and dribble handoff it’s Voya voislav medit welcome back to the show thank you thank you how you doing uh well I’m I’m actually uh feeling pretty good right now because it was 105° today in Serbia it was super hot luckily I was spending most of my day with my kids in a in a little swimming pool in my backyard but other than that it was it was so hot and now it’s raining out there so it should be it should be a nice night how about you good good have nice Saturday productive did got up early we talked on Twitter oh yeah so your your fishing gear your fishing gear is now all in line and ready for that was the last that was my last part of the move getting the the lures and all that organized into nice boxes so that’s all done so now I’m officially moved in oh so so you’re again close to the river somewhere uh close enough Lincoln’s everything’s close oh yeah okay okay it’s a small town small town yeah okay so we haven’t got the chance to hear you talk about the Nuggets playoff run what is your perspective on the two serieses we witnessed against the Lakers and the timber wolves let’s divide the playoffs into those two SE yeah I mean I don’t know I was I was mad at the Lakers series because we knew they’re going to win and they just and it it turned out that maybe they were just tired and and they weren’t feeling feeling you know feeling it uh this year so I don’t know I mean it was kind of honestly like I was again like I was moving around this year and a lot of changes but so I was watching only the Nuggets mostly uh and that San Antonio game just like took the took the life out of me honestly Like That season kind of ended for me there uh in that game because that was the first seed like I the path was getting getting tougher and you just and even in that game I think or actually the Memphis game they needed to win after Jamal tweaked his ankle on that one and I was like ah it’s we’re we’re doing this again in the in the playoffs so like I wasn’t holding up too much hope like it was at you know obviously 3-2 for for Denver like I was excited for the Minnesota series but like they got me back in just when I thought I was completely out and then they just tore me out again in the game seven it was just it’s a brutal season I mean it but honestly like I was I was saying that you know online it didn’t hurt as much as the 2019 because that one I against the Blazers was like I think at least like I was hoping a lot more That season uh because there was second seed kind of coming up this year you just kind of I don’t know I kind of felt like they weren’t fresh enough they weren’t into it too much enough to like win it so I don’t know it’s it doesn’t hurt me as much as again those those previous years that that’s a super pragmatic uh way to look at the season like yeah they tired like let let them like have a mediocre season so they can come back stronger next year that’s super super pragmatic I I congratulate you on that for me it was frustrating because that was the first time in all of the nine seasons of of nikolic’s tenure that the Nuggets actually regressed comparing to the season before you in a meaningful way regress only played in two playoff series but it is what it is uh we’ve seen we’ve seen all of it um how do you feel about the Timberwolves and the Mavericks the two teams that finished above the nuggets in the west do you expect them to come into next season as the favorites in the west not Dallas I don’t I don’t know I mean they look good I’m just not sure overall in the season Dallas has that potential of again doing four and five seed and then maybe doing something again in the playoffs if the matchup is going to roll for them which I honestly like I I’ve kind of I started to like really get annoyed a little bit with the oh nuggets like the Celtics off the hook kind of like obviously the uh like in the other direction like when last year they like oh Celtics let let the Nuggets off the hooks like you know you they lost you know it’s not like and and to be fair how Dallas was playing and and how the how poor Jamal was moving like you wouldn’t I don’t know if they would have been able to beat the beat the Mavericks with those lob threats and just some like depth uh it would have been interesting again because kind of always funny with the playoffs with matchups uh it kind of made like a little circle of like Minnesota matched up allall against nugget did match up well against the Mavericks and then you know we we would have seen you know I don’t know how it would have been in the Conference Finals but I don’t know I don’t still believe in them that much to for next season again unless Luca completely does the yic flip in 2020 and like comes in super ready super prepared even mentally too we talked about you and I talked about a bunch of times with yic reducing his technical files one year like that was that last year with they won the title and just completely saved energy on that part of like arguing with the refs and then also like just being in better shape uh so and you know the news was out that like luk is still gonna play I think in the qualifying tournament and possibly in the Olympics so he has that cycle of every time he plays every summer he plays I don’t even know if he can get to the point where he recuperates and then gets into shape and then gets into the season so like I I’m less like angry with him you know quote unquote angry with him that he’s out of shape every season because I think that’s just his cycle like you can’t do it differently because he’s playing for the national team which is commendable so I’m not for the me for the Wolves I think they’ll still be like a decent uh regular season team cat is Cat like it was the fun like we I was I don’t know about you like I was rooting against him and was still being annoyed with how how stupid the fouls were that he was making like I’m still like I’m glad you did it but like how like why are you doing this they were even talking into you know texting over the over the playoffs are like just unbelievable so dumb so dumb and you still Lo lost de serious it’s so it’s so frustrating it’s it’s really bad I like I I forget that we’re up 20 like I don’t even want to think about it ah yeah let like you know what like that Anthony Carter inbound that that cost the Nuggets playoffs that one season it’s it’s a joke now and hopefully it will become a joke at one point well it’s well to be fair like we can take it more lightly and joke about a little bit more because they not they won the previous year imagine if it was reversed like if we you know if we had that last year collapse and now you’re waiting like if they’re ever going to win like they won you know it you see how the CBA is like it’s hard to repeat so we’ll see even if the Celtics can keep it up um they’re you know in a better position than anyone to do it but like it’s just how it is like everyone’s panicking with this second apron you know what I really like your perspective because it really feels less bad than you know Mason plumbley not going on Anthony Davis and closing out on on the three-point shot the Nuggets lost the serus against the Lakers in the bubble oh that was because of yeah okay last team I wanted to ask you about from this season are your Boston Celtics they used to be your team and now after years of high expectations they finally won it all do you feel after all we have seen that they were decidedly better than what the Nuggets showed in the postseason and possibly could have shown if they you know went all the way to the finals I I think the I mean as much as the playoffs are like oh everyone’s like oh yeah the playoff the real season can start with the playoffs go I think it’s still playoffs still reflect the the season in some way like Celtics were dominant the whole season they were maybe they weren’t like reaching the highs in particular games that nuggets might have reached especially you know in head-to-head matchups but as overall on the big numbers they they did look the most dominant same thing happened in the playoffs they just also had like a bad luck of playing against injured teams I’m saying bad luck because of just the narratives like Obviously good luck in the way of they can roll through the 16 and three in the playoffs but as far as because I still think they would have would would have won the title if everyone they faced was healthy just turned out that they W that they weren’t um and as far playoffs maybe nuggets had like those runs with with the Wolves maybe that game game five against the Wolves was like better basketball in a single game than like maybe what the Celtics have shown in any of the games but I still think on the overall perspective I still think the Celtics had a better better playoffs obviously like obviously because they won like not just that but even even if the overall play if You’ average out the play they still had a higher floor than the Nuggets did I think this this playoffs because we’ve seen them go down 20 against Lakers I mean that game six against W was embarrassing 40 something like they just didn’t even show up they’re like okay we’ll take him seven at home and then even they even just like let their guard guard down in game seven so like that stuff doesn’t happen to a champion and Celtics didn’t didn’t really let it happen to them uh much like they they had some lapses of like okay we’re better so you kind of relax kind of the Heat game two last year for the Nuggets oh like they just got too lazy and then and then they kicked it into gear afterwards so I think overall they deserved it like they were the best team this year this year pretty much yeah uh we joked right before the show about how everybody was talking about nuggets losing Bruce Brown and how devastating that l was and we at the same time said yeah but Bruce is not that good you know guys like he’s not a 25 million per year guy you know but on the other hand they really did miss him they did miss one more piece uh to you know uh make Jamal’s life easier especially against the Timberwolves yeah and they they just didn’t have him so my question to you is for next season if the Nuggets want to come back into the into the championship contention do you think their adjustment should be just play better or should they go and find one more guy not one less guy as you know uh uh kcp leaving could be the the like the result of this off season yeah I mean that’s why we love basketball because that it’s because like you you have these ecosystems of teams and the Bruce was definitely much better for for the Nuggets than he ever was for any other team except maybe like I mean second best would be the Brooklyn team you know a couple of years but again he was playing like a center so I I I don’t know I mean it’s hard to find uh it’s hard to find someone again like that fits well as Bruce as Bruce did that was kind of a lucky turn of events that he was a free agent that not really people were people misdiagnosed him as a player like what he could be because you’re definitely right like the mo the funniest thing is like you’re missing him because of the ball handling in a guard play and wherever he went after was they used him as a forward you know patching up the you know the the famous inverted pick and rolls and and he’s the short roll guy like which he was in some cases but mostly he was playing pick and roll with yoke he was uh you know helping Jamal get the ball off the court so I don’t even know like who’s even available out there and that’s why the draft is interesting because there is a guy that I think CT is going to talk about the Tristan Newton that is that could be that is just the problem is getting a rookie to immediately impact that way because what brown did is he’s an exception in a way because of what he needed to do that role I think is less I think complicated for for a rookie that’s been in a college for four years like he didn’t have that much responsibility besides cleaning up easy looks and you’ll get a lot of them if you play with with the starting lineup uh and the the the getting a rookie to be a leading you know point guard and it’s not a generational type guy it’s really tough like you you know we all have Monte he took a few years like tyus Jones like all these guys that are that are talked about his um they talked about are they took a couple years so even getting that kind of role through the draft is going to be tough so I don’t even again like I don’t even know who’s who’s out there D Wright was one of those guys people talked about and he looked good for the heat but it’s It’s Tricky I mean you would I mean okay let’s I’m going to you know I went too long on the question but you yeah you definitely would need some someone someone to help out Jamal if Jamal’s not going to be 100% And there’s no other one as a secondary ball handler because Bruce was you could put him next to Jamal and he could play defense Reggie can alleviate pressure on the ball by getting the ball a little bit and dribbling but he can defend and so you have that you know that that’s that balance that that we’re missing with Bruce uh as that type of player so it’s tough man that’s why I mean like it’s it’s really tricky to win now because you can’t just like resign a bunch of players also Jamal had no idea what to do when Reggie had the ball and Reggie had no idea what to do when Jamal had the ball so that that was a really horrible Synergy one thing about the second apron and you know losing kcp to get under it is that the Nuggets could get you know the the taxpayers midlevel exception to to uh add a player uh on a free agency and you know what they could theoretically find a Bru Brown level guy again but not a kcp level guy but it wouldn’t be a kcp level guy that’s the thing like you are swapping kcp for a Bruce Brown clone but you still don’t have the the kcp so this is why and I know you’re watching K this is why I’m not never gonna uh forgive you if you let kzp go I don’t care what kind of money you need to offer him to for him to stay okay let’s now uh go to the to the Olympics you mentioned Luca Don playing for the Slovenian national team actually I think Slovenian national team has a game in the qualifying round in like 10 days from now yeah I don’t know if he’s playing that one or like yeah yeah I’m not sure he’s actually playing in the first me neither like yeah the news like he’ll playing the Olympics but was that does that mean because here like news sometimes on when American journalists report report like happenings of international play they don’t even know which tournaments yeah so it might have been uh oh he’s playing the qualifying for the Olympics which is one news and then the other one is oh I’ll play in the Olympics if my team qualifies which again is another big question mark because I don’t think they qualify without him which is the way how Nikola yic wanted to play in 2021 at the Olympics and then the team just didn’t qualify for the Olympics and I think the same thing would happen to to Slovenia I don’t think they can get away from that qualifying uh tournament without him it’s I believe six teams competing for one spot and that would be really really hard to do without Luca so I wouldn’t be surprised at all at all to see Luca in 10 days in in a green and white T-shirt playing for the team Slovenia and power to him but we are not here to talk about team Slovenia I want to talk uh for a couple of minutes about team Serbia and this is why I have this uh presentation this beautiful presentation I made uh 10 days ago whenever it was so I just wanted to run through it quickly with you like speedrun how my kids call it when they play Minecraft so uh is there a name here missing in in your opinion or is are all of the are are the these guys all of the stars the Serbia could assemble for this Olympics yeah I’m not first it’s oros PL is being on there is kind of kind of interesting uh yeah I don’t know if they’re missing I mean obviously aside from obvious T doic but he was he was gone before so it’s not yeah yeah also K also Stefan marovic those guys have retired yeah yic obviously yic retired as well that’s the one for me that’s he’s the one for me that’s that that hurts a lot because we we seem to win win a lot of medals when he’s playing uh and it’s not an accident in my opinion uh I’m look I’m looking at the point guards and it’s a lot of the combo type combo guards that are not stefanovic which again maybe I’m just sub you subjective but um I don’t I mean it’s a good I mean it looks good on on paper just depends on who’s gon to take um because we can so do you want to go a speedrun of who’s who who we think is GNA be on the team yeah well first of all you can see the size of this squad like everybody is salivating to see like the average height of 69 of the of course there are too many centers as always with s b too many centers over there okay so who would you like to cross off this list to get to the final 12 and and this is no slight to the guys that would wouldn’t be just in the top 12 of course I mean first like the bottom two guys off the off the center list honestly like I mean it’s hard because you have Milo yic and petev ideally like if kinich was playing you wouldn’t even have three centers you would just have yic and milutinov because I don’t like if again if you’re going to win something we’re going to do anything big those two guys are the only two guys they should play on Center uh and you shouldn’t be wasting minutes on on from yokich or militon of especially it’s a 40-minute game yic can play I mean all of it uh and you know when it when it comes to like The Knockout stages so but let’s say the first two traditionally we know he’ll take three centers which probably Petr Shi and milutinov um obviously yic is gonna be in so povi I’m not sure like he had like a decent end to Charlotte season but he’s never played on on like the Olympic team on the national teams in this big like a big stage like this so it’s probably never played a meaningful game of basketball in his life probably yeah and that’s the that’s kind of that’s this is where it gets stct where kinic would have been really great you have that combo because Luchi and yic are your basically your fours davidov we love but like you you know he never he never really kind of does much in these in these competitions like he never he doesn’t make too many mistakes but like he doesn’t really pop like yoi did last last tournament because that should have been a davidas tournament and yic just took it over yeah uh my guy Doc is should be in um bogdanovich obviously the first two guys Vasa and Alexa too so it’s there it’s basically gri is one of those guys it’s like for me like the soccer now is is is current so like it’s like Alexander mitrovich like every time I watch the national team like those two guys never do that well for National they have moments but it’s like you’re supposed to like you’re you’re like in your Club season you’re much better than this uh so I’m like I don’t know I mean it’s obviously gorich and Bogdan should be there because you have secondary ball handlers with Vasa and Alexa uh and then dobd as a Defender so that’s also another you know like you’re you’re talking about Alex and dobd being your two like dogs to chase around players so again we have a really good team like we should do a lot it’s just every time we’re we have that kind of stacked roster is that the times we really don’t do well so it’s it’s impossible to to say this correctly because the the tournament system is really dodg it’s really crazy three groups of four teams and then like top team sucks that go there but if you would have to choose the three teams to win medals which three teams would would they be um medals well it’s USA unfortunately for for their like Dream Team I guess I have embid so they might not make it out of the second round so we’ll see about that uh I want to say I I’m never picking France uh I’m sorry to the French guy our French friends uh I don’t trust him but it is in their home words like they might you know get a bronze um I I mean it Germany was a world champion but it’s probably like USA Canada be interesting but again Canada and has again like one of those they never done it before but they have a bronze I think from the World Cup so they might be primed for like a silver medal is is still there I I haven’t checked that I think so yeah they they have a stack roster I mean it’s by the players it’s it’s it’s obviously France Canada and and USA but I’m always I’m I’m going Serbia USA and and honestly Germany yeah those three team would be those three teams would be mine as well okay we need to we need to to to go now to the to the draft part of the show thank you so much VA for for spending a couple of minutes with us than for inviting me have a great summer and I hope to see you very soon show yeah yeah I got I gotta join up on that game show when you come back from vacation oh absolutely absolutely see you soon byebye y see you okay we are back so it is draft time let me introduce our dedicated nuggets draft guy he is a contributor at Crown hoops and a basketball coach calling from Brendan vot’s home state of New Jersey it’s C Fazzio welcome back to the show C hey Mira thanks for having me on always great to hop on the Serbian corner with you so what’s the weather like in the Eastern Time Zone very hot today I was at the beach before and unfortunately didn’t last too long so uh I had to get out of the heat I think it’s around close to like 100 today so pretty uh pretty hot out there so is is the ocean warm enough for for swimming in your parts or is that only Florida no the ocean’s warm enough to swim in Jersey um I’m not a big ocean person uh personally but um on a day like today when it’s like sweltering out there I I do go into the ocean so um because other than that I don’t think you could really uh you know stay out in the heat for so long but yeah now the ocean um swimable for the most part but sometimes it is pretty cold you know when the weather is not too hot excellent last but not least my dedicated Italiano Vero from dnvr bets dnvr draft pod dnvr fantasy dnvr Buffs dnvr filling in wherever it is needed it is Dr Dre also known as Andre oh screw it Andrea Simone welcome back to the show amiko my guy Miro how are you uh pretty good pretty good how about you doing good it sounds like I’ve got the best weather of the bunch my wife’s in Chicago she’s telling me about terrible humid heat here at least it’s dry you know you find a nice spot in the shade all is well CT fio do you have some some Italian in you there I am I am I’m 100% Italian actually Neo it sounds like a bit of an Italian take over here on Serbian corner for some draft talk I love this I wish we had an Italian Prospect this year but sadly not to be but uh I I love hanging out with Italians every time except in the in the like second round of Euro basket second round of Euro basket is horrific for me when the Italians come come there so yeah I’m really rooting against Italy to be completely honest in the Olympic qualifier because I’m so scared of that team like like even the the USA team with all the elders they’re bringing in doesn’t scare me uh close closely as as as the Italian like we know we know how good Italian players are and yeah yeah let’s hope we’ll have to wait for the for the Euro basket to see it again that’s right that’s right soon enough okay so guys let’s start with the options for the Nuggets outside of drafting players with their 28th and 57 picks uh on the draft night we we know it is very improbable to get a Zeke Nai trade on draft night since his poison pill expires on July first when it will be easier to make the money work on the other hand the nuggets are still under the first apron on draft night so it is possible they could try to aggregate some salaries and sweeten them with a pick or two to actually uh make a trade before July 1st which includes the draft night they could also trade up or trade down in this draft or even trade their pick or picks for future picks if they want to so what would be the most probable scenario for you guys out of these options and of course using their picks to draft players too C do you want to to start yeah no I think um I Think It’s just tough where the nugets are kind of slated right now you know if you look at their cap structure and you know kyp’s you know in pending deal coming in as well um I do think it’s kind of kind of tough to strike that balance between you know can you add more young players to the mix because they already have five you know young first and second year you know going to the third year now you know players on the roster so I think it’s kind of tough to add more to that mix um but I do think probably if I were to guess like I wouldn’t trade their pick you know and attach it to say like um you know Zeke or somebody else to try to like move off the deal because I feel like then it would just be like you know sunk kind of asset for the Nuggets there so um I personally think they’ll probably select at 28 and then maybe at 56 they’ll bring that guy in on a two-way um so you know usually uh then I’ll just kind of cycle in their two-ways like every year or so so I probably would imagine they they pick at 28 and then maybe 56 they’ll they’ll sign that guy to a two-way what do you think Andre yeah I I agree with CT I think that’s most likely I think they will try to move down potentially it’s funny how ESPN’s both reported this Darren Holmes promise but at the same time gavone keeps repeating how they he could see them trying to move down a few spots into the early second to save some money on a first round contract I was seeing another ESPN report today I mean an ASN article that was talking about the Nuggets potentially trying to add another pick in the middle of the draft which I presume is basically where they’re drafting right now so doubling up there which uh gosh that would that would be move by Cal doubling up and finding two picks in the in the top 35 and I think some way somehow they kind of find a way to get rid of the second rounder maybe just make turn that into a second rounder down the road or what have you I just can’t see them adding two more rookies this season but uh we’ll see the big thing is you know there’s it’s easy to predict all these trades in the draft it’s hard to then actually find matches for them and that’s where I think it might be kind of hard for the Nuggets to really move out of 28 and they might just be stuck there to to make if they would draft a guy at 28 and sign him to a regular NBA contract that would mean they would have one less veteran on the team next season comparing to this one and I’m not sure how how fond of that Michael Malone would be H do you maybe see a scenario where one of the uh last season’s rookies uh be traded on the draft night or in in the offseason just to to accommodate having a bit more um draft on the team next season yeah no I think so um that’s actually interesting point by Andre I didn’t see that about the trading into the middle of the first I have to uh to see um you know kind of further there um I do think that probably one of those young players I think would probably be moved uh maybe in like a a Zeke trade uh to attach to his contract to maybe try to get off his deal um but I mean I think if you’re adding another player to the mix you know like you said it’s it’s pretty tough to add like to have all these guys on the roster you know like you already have Five Guys on uh you know going to their second and third year next year to add another player to the mix there is a bit you know I think it might be a bit of an you know Overkill um comparing to you know the veterans so personally for for me like I would like them to add a few veterans that could play right now particularly at at backup point guard and backup center um you know those two positions I think are are pretty big needs for the Nuggets but um you know depending on the prospect that falls at 28 I’d be open to the idea of bringing another rookie um just as far as like a positional kind of standpoint but um yeah they’re definitely in a tough spot but I I personally for me I would move one of picket or Tyson just to be transparent uh you know with azeke you know his contract or you if they’re going to move up a couple spots or or what have you so I just think in this class just scouting it I think they’re more um you know playable and versatile options you compare with joic and Murray that kind of make more sense than than what ticket and what picket and uh Tyson bring to the table so Andre do do do you do you agree the young guys to to just clear way a spot for some veteran presence next season I think spot wise it’s more or less going to work out to where you you are adding a higher caliber young guy to like that J Huff spot basically and they’ll make it work I think that third point guard spot has to be a veteran and ideally one of those two point guard spots is a younger guy you’re developing behind Jamal so whether it’s picket or maybe picket the guy you flip because it’s just not a match with Malone and that’s what you do with the 28th pick that’s something I could see work out I think they really like the idea of a hunter Tyson or a vatco or you know what a forward who can give you a five out type look so some way somehow I think they’re going to stick to that and I think there’s no there’s no getting off Strather CB or uh pwop because they’re such essential pieces at the money they make and just costc controlled assets who can plausibly be rotational pieces for you the next two to three years I think they’re too important so I really only see it with picket and I think that’s going to be a bit of a you know at the heart of a mini power struggle between Malone and Cal and who who gives in and who’s forced to give in right okay I I think we all agreed that the nuggets’ biggest uh positions of need are backup point guard and backup five or back up big so you guys prepared some names for me uh to to examine but before that we’ll take a short break don’t go anywhere we are back and we’re opening the old presentation point guards or guards in general so we’ll start with Andre’s pick it is Terren Shannon junr who is a senior from Illinois 66 guard and I really hope you guys are watching these on big ass screens because these numbers are really small in my presentation so if you want to check out uh the five seasons of teren Shanner Jr you’ll need a big screen to do it so first of all let me ask you guys when somebody is in his first season of college he is called a freshman in second season he is a sophomore in third season he’s a junior in fourth season he is a senior is this a super senior when a guy is there for five years that’s exactly right you’ve got super senior status here sometimes a red shirt senior if they took a a year off from playing Meo that’s a that’s another option right there he’s a he’s a super senior because he’s one of these guys who uh played during covid year so all those guys got an extra season uh Hunter Tyson Jaylen picket other super seniors sooner or later we will run out of super seniors in the draft but this is not the Year this is a guy who’s almost three years older than pewa I think he’s older than Christian Brown and strawther so that that just gives you an idea um I think he is with Dalton KCK and Zack yei one of the you know top seniors in this class and one of the few guys at this age who warrants consideration to me even in the top 20 he just had a monster monster year at Illinois as a scorer this is a guy who in his early years at Texas Tech uh was more of a wing with a great motor who could run up and down in transition really defend well uh give you some rebounding what have you and transformed himself into one of the best scorers in all of college basketball I I still forget where I read this but someone wrote he is the him and donic were the only two guys in all of like basketball to have seven made free throws and two made threes um Luca actually during the regular season had 6.7 so technically Luca doesn’t even qualify in the playoffs guys like embiid Brunson Luca and SGA did this but that tells you like a modern basketball scorer a guy who’s gonna attack the rim uses athleticism and size he’s a lefty super crafty getting to the rim and drawing fouls and then really develop this nice quick Lefty shot off the dribble in transition developing as more of an off ball shooter on movement really like what he showed in the corners and he’s a guy who doesn’t have more hype because he had this terrible case hanging over his head he’s just this last week he was cleared so teams are kind of playing catchup we’ll see if the NBA likes them more than the media who rightfully hasn’t really touched touched him or dealt with him until he was uh fully cleared but this is a guy who you know you said the two needs me are point guard and big he feels the Bruce Brown role he feels that big Wing secondary playmaker scorer who’s a monster in transition who brings energy athleticism extra size for you at 28 I think he would absolutely be a steal I you know would select him in the top 18 15 somewhere in that range I just think he’s a guy who can contribute right away so City what would you add to to this Andre’s very really good self for me honestly apart from terence’s Elite hairstyle no I do I Andre put it perfectly you know about Shannon um on my personal board I have Shannon at at 16 right now so like right outside the lottery um you know I think his increased scoring aggression um his production as well and you know he’s a two-way player you know he’s a really really elite point of attack Defender really athletic and um I think I do think he would help the nuggets as far as their transition game is concerned um I think that was a great point about you know him kind of filling a Bruce Brown you know role you know being a guy in transition who’s attacking the paint um getting to the rim at will you know he averaged like I think it was around almost nine free throw attempts a game which is a pretty staggering stat um and I think too like he would be really really solid Off the Bench my my one worry with him is that I think he probably is a little bit more Wing is than um like on the ball player but I do think that you know in lineups with jic of course we’ve seen you know last year that you don’t really necessarily have to be a point guard to kind of play with him so um I think he’d be a great pick If he if he’s there for sure yeah I think we’re done talking about guys not playing with yic like if we’re not going going to be you know uh viable to play next to yic in a playoff minutes what are we talking about I mean it’s like we are we are looking for playoff contributors if not maybe next summer maybe the summer after that so so yeah I agree this this sounds like a very promising um Prospect okay next prospect on the guard position this one is for by CT Fazzio so it’s Tristan Newton senior 65 Guard from Yukon s it tell him to me yeah no Tron was um so some of his accolades over his college career he he’s won the the Bob Cy award um allamerican first team All-American first team Big East player uh final foremost outstanding player and he was a two-time back-to-back National Champion so he’s a very decorated player um he’s got four triple doubles over his career as well um I actually did want to ask you guys maybe a question if you could get it so he’s tied he has the most triple doubles in um as a power conference uh play player in college uh since Shaq uh uh Shaq had six triple doubles during his career um in college and he’s tied with triple doubles in college basketball history with uh three other players I I’ll give you two of them and one of them I’ll see if you guys could guess uh one was um David Robinson and Jason Kidd uh this other player is a recent uh recently drafted probably around like three to five years ago I’d say uh allar point guard in the west uh could could you name who he is I I know who he is because I watched all all of your show recent shows so I would be cheating so Andre do you want to try oh and see until you said uh All-Star point guard in the west I thought it was a trick question and the answer is Denzel Valentine who I’ve seen be the answer to a few of those triple double questions before but definitely not an All-Star point guard in the west um so I’m blanking you got to tell me CT I was uh John Mor it’s John Mor yeah he was a much better rebounder at the at the college level I guess yeah than than in the NBA so so this is this is why most people are not going to go to jar end when when we talk about triple doubles but yeah I think that’s that’s a really really cool cool stat do you want to add something to this Andre on on Tristan Newton no I mean he’d be a fantastic fit right he just makes so much sense for the Nuggets a guy who uh easy to fly under the radar but he just uh he just makes a lot of sense is there enough on ball creation for you CT to really have that primary backup point guard role and like enough connectivity to maybe even play with a Gillan picket yeah no I think I think the cell with Newton is that um you know he was part of like the best offense in uh College you know over the past two years and um playing under Dan Hurley Yukon who um you know he was pitched as as the Lakers coach but he you know he sparing them to go back to Yukon which was which was pretty funny um but yeah I think with with Newton though like that he was the anchor of like the best offense in college basketball like as the point guard um and I think he made like a lot of his teammates better you know you look at you know a guy like Stefan Castle who’s gonna go in the top 10 um and Donovan Clingan who might go number one in this class I just think he made those guys a lot better and um I think Newton’s a guy like he’s you know really Adept at at um drawing free throws um really good foul shooter even though the three-point percentage was a bit you know hit or miss this year um but I really like his ability to you know kind of get in the paint uh you know utilize screening angles and um he really takes like deep threes as well like not even like from the college line like he likes to take threes from like NBA range so I think for me also too like he could play with Murray you know as well like you could the main kind of like requisite I think is that you can like hold up defensively next to Murray and like allow him to play off the ball a little bit um so I think with newon he provides that versatility where you could play him with Murray um and Newton could guard like the other team’s better guard um and have Murray like play off the ball a bit and then two with Newton you could play I was like the sole point guard like if you put him with like a rim rolling big I think that he would look really good in that aspect as well so I just have like a pretty big belief in him I think the nugs can get him in the second round as well I don’t think he’s gonna go in the first round so um and personally I I I personally think just to be transpar I think he’s better than than um than picket um I think I would I would kind of sign him to that that standard deal um you know considering if there’s other roster moves made but at the least i’ s to a two-way yeah another super senior Five Seasons on on East Carolina and then Yukon so yeah that didn’t guarantee minutes to pick it either so we’ll see if he would get a good chance with micro Malone next guy again from Andre Jamal sh Shad how you pronounce it yes Shad so he’s a senior here’s a small 61 guard yeah from Houston a senior but not a super senior so Andre exactly sell him to me only 21 um it’s fun to do him right after Tristan Newton because I think the profiles read similarly it’s just the size that’s going to be different and that’s why this is the one guy I went out on a limb a little bit I’m not sure if uh the size really takes him makes him a true contend for the Nuggets I think C’s been pretty clear that size might be positional size might be the one non-negotiable that he has in the draft um and he’s 61 in shoes and 63 wingspan if he had a 67 wingspan we’d be talking about a guy who’s regarded much higher his athleticism though makes up for a lot of that length this is something I talk about in the NFL draft all the time uh and he plays like full core on ball Defender so exciting he’s gonna he won’t give you an inch to breathe he’s not just quick laterally he’s super bouncy he’s going to get imp passing Lanes he’s gonna force the issue this is a guy Meo who if he slips like to the outside of the top 50 if I’m a top Euro league club I’m calling this guy’s agent and trying to sign him right out of college the way Barca did with like Oscar D Silva because in the Euro league this guy has such quickness in the halfcourt game to break you down oneon-one and it’s why he has one of the best assist to turnover ratios in the country seven assists uh to 2.3 turnovers in uh per 36 and uh he just is so good at breaking it down maybe not the flashiest passer but really good at uh kicking out and getting his teammates good shots the real the real thing that you’re gambling on with him is will the three-point percentage come around um I see enough tougher off the bounds shot attempts he was counted on to kind of be one of the tougher shot makers for his team to where I believe that will come around the free throw rates are pretty good though not as good as Tristan Newton in the high 70s shot 80% as a sophomore there um I think he’d be a fun little point guard to put next to a Christian Brown to put next to a pewa to maybe be able to counter Jamal size and having some lineups like that um you’re gambling on defense I I know Meo you and I think we see eye to eye defense can be a little overrated sometimes but if the shot were to come around I love his character motor and the what he would bring as kind of a backup point guard to the so I was hoping you would say he would be a a new Davon Mitchell but then you move all the way to the Euroleague level so city city is this a is this a second second round pick and possibly like a target for the nuggets with a 57th pick then yeah no I think it’s definitely possibility I think Andre um they’ll put it perfectly as well with she I think you know Houston was a really good team this year in college basketball and he was like the engine for that um so I think that that definitely matters um as well but yeah I think he could probably be had with the two-way deal I’d be I’d be shocked if he goes like top 40ish or so um but I think that on a twoa could do far worse than um than she like he’d be a really good like gamble to take um was like trying to like make his way into like the back end of a rotation and um yeah he just plays really hard and I i’ I enjoyed watching him play this year I think he’s a really really fun watch as well by the way we mentioned Euro league Andre what do you think about the fact that with the the cap spiking again uh in the NBA like 10% increase is expected for the last next five years or so or even further than that the minimum contract in the NBA will be almost as big as the biggest contract in Euro league like what kind of repercussions that’s that’s gonna make like guys are probably gonna want to stick in in g-league instead of going to Euro League at all just to be closer to the to the NBA Scouts it’s going to be really interesting to see because that g-league life is not the Euro league life you know and that’s where you really uh that’s where the trade-off happens but we’re also seeing it with these top European prospects coming to the US to play college now because they can pay them in college so I uh the continued globalization of the game is going to be really interesting Euro league and all of European basketball they got to figure out how to monetize that product because I love the product it gets better and better it’s easier and easier for me to watch in the states are they properly monetizing it and monetizing it without you know you know losing the the great uh the great Arenas and teams and rivalries we have right so that we’re not it doesn’t just become like a Saudi league right and that’s how we monetize it um so lots to be figured out with with the Euro league but it’s an interesting point yeah let’s hope for the Euro league to stay uh competitive not with the the NBA but just stay in that second tier uh and not uh drop down from there okay next candidate again from CT it’s AJ Mitchell Junior 63 Guard from UC Santa Barbara that sounds like a wonderful play to place to to play basketball at just three years at college level city is this enough for the Nuggets team yeah he’s not uh he’s not 25 or or plus so I don’t know if he’ll be uh within the cards there but yeah with Mitchell I really like uh really like his game you know as as a lefty um he was on a pretty like bad team uh at UCSB you know in the big uh the big West which is more of like a mid- major conference um you know 20 points a game 39% from three um like three attempts a game uh you know four rebounds four assists you know pretty good free throw shooter as well and he really had to do like the bulk of the work for for this team um you know he didn’t really have a lot of creation uh you know in the back court with him as well but um just really crafty uh finding driving Lanes like he was always able to get two feet into the paint and um either make a play for himself or others really good passers well manipulating the defense um you know hitting hitting the Lop threat you know hitting skip passes um I think too like he could play honor off the ball as well um which is pretty important when you when you talk about the Nuggets that the Nuggets just didn’t have this year you know like playing Reggie with Jamal was a was a huge issue defensively I think like the guys that um you know we we spoke about like with with she you you talk about Newton and um Shannon right like you could play those guys next to Murray I think um or like solo with the bench you know as well and I think Mitchell would also be a guy who could could play uh by himself off the bench and um you know score for himself and create you know opportunities for himself and his teammates but also too he could hold up defensively next to Murray so I think that’s kind of like what like I’ve been looking for in the draft like seeing that kind of like versatility and and flexibility that the dougas could play with so I think there’s a lot of guys in this class that uh provide that uh you know skill set so so Andre the Nuggets already missed on a Mitchell because they wanted Tre Lyles and Tyler Leen I guess in that draft should they should they fix that error and draft a Mitchell this time around he’s fun of all the guys we’re gonna talk about um he’s one of the few who you truly believe can can be a serviceable backup point guard but isn’t truly Steppy on anyone’s toes who might already be kind of filling that backup point guard role can play with Jamal can replicate Jamal uh which is really fun you uh he wouldn’t be my I’m a little more skeptical about him because I I worry about the high-end athleticism with him and the ultimate uh potential with him right but uh you know a 63 guard who I think plays more like 65 who has those shooting percentages and that kind of craft and IQ and in creating would fit really nice and you know sometimes the high IQ guys in Denver are uh are at more of a premium because they fit in this environment and their skills play up also from Belgium so uh don’t don’t be deceived by the name he is a this is a euro Prospect here M oh yeah I I’ve stopped guessing anybody’s nationalities based on their names we are a global now so anybody could play for anybody okay last guard for today and by your powers combined I’m Captain Planet no uh so both CT and Andre suggested jayen Tyson a junior 67 Guard from California again just three years at college guys okay sell him to me whoever wants to start um yeah I think the the Quick Pitch as this is a a big big guard 67 in shoes 68 wingspan who’s really good or had a breakout season this year at Cal as an on ball Creator both for himself and for others nice creative uh passer um can operate well as a pick and roll ball handler and create there can be a bit erratic there are halves where like nothing is falling and he’s just turning the ball over and then like Cal had some epic second half comebacks and a lot of that was Jaylen Tyson just getting quick before I hand the ball over to CT on him the thing that I think is maybe most underrated about his game that’s really stood out to me offensively and defensively when he switched on to bigs I see a guy who really holds his own who really is strong in the post guarding straight up bigs I think this is an area of his game where he can become a better finisher at The Rim he can be more of a a go a big guard who backs guys down and plays a little booty ball uh so that’s an area where I think there’s a little extra and he’s another of the the the Bruce archetype if you will so City I I see his impressive rebounding numbers next to his big scoring numbers is this a guy that seems to be ready to play in the NBA right now definitely yeah I think I think Tyson could play right away I think he’s a little bit older of a prospect too um you know comparatively to like the years in college um but yeah I I really like Tyson’s game you know as being um you know like Andre kind of mentioned more of like a Bruce brown type I think Newton could kind of fit that bill as well um you know being more of like a Bruce Brown guy you know getting uh generating Rim pressure and creating offense for yourself a bit which I think you know we saw in that wolv series the Nuggets just had no other creators and Murray was just getting you know quadruple teamed by a swarm of big perimeter Defenders so yeah I think with you know being a bigger guard at 67 that’s a pretty big uh you know attribute for him and um he had like a pretty big usage Spike this year as well you know at Cal where he was like taking on he was like the number one option basically and you kind of put that in Denver you could put him as the backup one or two and play him with jic you know as like the one um you know as well he could create for himself in the paint um pretty versatile defensively uh you know as well so um if he was to pick I I’d be pretty happy about it and I think he could play with uh you know strawther and brown and and Watson I don’t think it would be like a like a mismatch you know in that aspect like or positional like overlap because I think their skill sets all are kind of a bit different hey give me a big guard and I I’m I’m gonna be happy about that don’t worry okay let’s take one last short break and then we’ll talk about some big guys don’t go anywhere okay big guys will’ll start with Andre’s pick it’s Kel wear that’s almost k l wear almost a Superman sophomore SF footer pure center from Indiana just two seasons in the in the college competition yes is he polished enough or is this a project Andre no this is a project this is a pewa archetype we would call this um and I I wonder I wonder I wonder I wonder if C would really be in on him and uh the big question with him is how many teams will be in on him because he he comes with all the pedigree in the world as a freshman goes to Oregon first week as a as a college player has a great game against Yukon and then doesn’t see any minutes um it’s kind of bad mouthed many question is work ethic and as a sophomore really has a fantastic bounceback year for Indiana um he’s a a mini wemi if you’ll allow just this long guy who can run the floor um kind of gets some Derek Lively comps as well as a a long guy who can be in the dunker spot but what I really like about him is the upside as a shooter and the touch he has around the rim um backing guys down little hook shots and even these little like 10 feet in like fadeaways and has a really nice touch almost average a double double in one of the toughest conferences in the country biggest knock aside from what I talked about with the character in The Freshman season is when he faced uh bigger centers like Zach Ed especially they kind of manhandled him and that’s why he’s a project M right now he’s not going to be able to go up against you know any any feasible first or starting or backup center in the NBA and give you anything so this is a guy who’s not going to be in your playoff rotation till at least 2026 so so City this guy is not really a shooter he’s been shooting very few three-pointers but he has he he had been hitting them at a pretty high rate do you trust his shot does the mechanic look good and what is the the range you expect him to be in the draft yeah no I think he could be he could be a pretty good shooter you know albe it on on limited volume uh this year um but 43% from three but it’s pretty tough to take that with with the volume uh Factor there but I think you know W is probably his range would be like I would say like 12 to like 20ish maybe around there um I think depending on if teams you know like the motor concerns was definitely you know something bit uh you know a big kind of factor there um but yeah know I think where as far as like a modern offensive Center is is someone who’s like right up the you know the NBA’s alley you know for right now um you know could play inside out and uh like when I watched him like he was just like very like towering over a lot of a lot of The Bigs you know that he played against uh you know pretty pretty good shot blocker um you know when his when he was like the motor was was working um you know but uh just kind of really liked his offensive offensive game but um yeah like like Andre said it’s gonna take probably a little bit for him to develop okay next guy from C Darren Holmes second II he’s a junior from Dayton 69 Center I’ve heard some comparment uh between him and and Zeke Naji is it fair uh I would say I would say no um because I think Holmes is much more uh versatile offensively um Zeke in college is more like a like he played as a big you know he was like a guy catching lobs and um you know anchoring the paint defensively I think with Holmes is that he’s shown more of an ability offensively than what Zeke you know even even like going into now like Holmes is a guy could play inside out um pretty good shootter this year like on uh three attempts a game you know 39% from three um and I think too he’s a really good passer as well he could play in the paint he could play in the post uh he’s pretty good passing at a double team no passing on the short roll and um I really like his ability to play defensively uh different coverages uh he could play as a switch big you could play him in you know in a drop you could play him in at the level as well um and he was like the main guy for Dayton this year um and he was I think he excelled in that role um All-American as well so I think especially when you you factor in the Nuggets bench being like really uh their their kind of front Court behind jic is pretty deficient offensively I think he would be a big- time addition as far as you know his offensive game um and I think defensively too he’d be pretty good but I think another kind of area as well that we saw with Zeke over the years is that he can’t really play with jic anymore um due to like his ability that he can’t he can’t really shoot anymore and I think Holmes could uh play next to yic and spurts and you know we saw against the Wolves where they had like a big front line I think playing Holmes next to joic would be kind of like a nice uh matchup there as well so um even if they decide to bring in like a backup big uh I think Holmes could be like a you know him in the the backup big off the veteran minum could be like a platoon and you know could be matchup dependent as well so he’s my favorite a guy at 28 right now if they keep the pick and he slides there he’d be he’d be my pick so Andre how do you feel about about Darren as a potential pick for the Nuggets this draft is so funny man because there’s so many there’s we talk about it as being weak and yet there’s there’s a handful of guys like this you feel like wow I’m it’s be surprising to have a big that’s that skilled this productive and an all them Ain caliber type who’s still around that that pick 28 right um so he’s maybe not my number one choice but I I like him a lot what’s interesting is sometimes I watch the junior tape from last year and I wish he was just a smidge more explosive and then I watch some of the sophomore stuff and he seems more explosive where he was playing as more of an energy big than like the offensive focal point am I tripping CT what what do you attribute that to if uh if you’re seeing the same thing yeah no I think that’s that’s definitely accurate um junior year he looked a a little bit more bouncy I think he probably added more weight this year to try to be more um physical in the paint so I think that’s probably what it was but yeah I think maybe moving forward he’ll uh maybe lean out a little more to to add back that explosiveness but um yeah I think that was kind of the trade-off there uh just trying to be a little bit more physical in the pain yeah I’m I’m just not sure he is big enough to be Center in the NBA but you know what for a backup center I I I guess that’s that’s big enough unless you’re playing Minnesota in that case I’m not I’m not sure that that’s going to cut it but you know let’s let’s not be afraid of Minnesota anymore next guy back to Andre so Enrique Freeman a senior a fiveyear super senior who is 67 Big from Acron so from the same place uh LeBron James is from thinking is that is that the only thing he shares with LeBron um yeah probably probably unlike LeBron who was drafted out of high school out of high school he goes to akan and has to walk on as a college player Meo do you know what a walk-on is so h college players they all get scholarships right they get free school to come and play basketball there are also like two tryy out spots for regular students to make it on the team he was a regular student who made it onto the team and worked his way up to then become the star player uh have this phenomenal season who he does remind me of if you want a crazy comp I won’t go LeBron I’ll go Aaron Gordon his game reminds me a lot of Aaron Gordon frankly is what like four years uh younger so it’s not like oh 10 years younger he’s four years younger than going so he’s an undersized Center who I thought played really well when he was confronted with true seven-footers like in the tournament um against kraton there are going to be some matchups where his size is going to limit him but I think he has enough foot quickness uh vertical athleticism to play some some spots at the floor to play with joic if you’ll allow my AG comp he is a 37% three-point shooter and has only he’s only started taking threes the last two seasons so I think there’s some real upside there very explosive dunker and like crafty moves around the hoop uh back to the basket as a post scorer he’s a guy I really really like um because of his age because he played at a small school because he wasn’t some All-American high school kid like Holmes or some of these other guys we’re talking about very under the radar has kind of built his way up um to where he got a combine invite this year I thought it was very interesting Christian Peak the Yahoo Sports Draft analyst was saying on a podcast her hot take is Freeman will go into the first round and if he were to go in the first round he’s going in one of the last couple picks nuggets have had him in for an interview I wouldn’t be surprised if a Minnesota 27 Denver at 28 surprised us all and actually took this guy and he was one of these great stories in the first round because of how far he’s come from being a walkon well based on numbers solid I’m sold on this guy like his rebounding numbers are incredible he’s not a seven footer grabbing rebounds over six seven guys he is a 67 guy grabbing rebounds uh U above everybody else so that’s pretty pretty impressive that sounds like a really high energy guy do do you agree with this assessment CT yeah definitely I think the the story for him is really um really inspiring U um and I think that you know he plays a little bit bigger than his like a lot bigger than his size which is pretty um you it’s gonna have to be that way if he’s gonna like last in the league but yeah um I do think that he’s gonna be an undervalued no second rounder which I think I would probably guess he goes in the second round um but another dream scario for at 56 right we’ve thrown out a few he’d be a dream I should have mentioned 72 Wings span so that’s why he is able to to play Down Low with h with bigs and almost average two blocks per game last year definitely yeah for sure I think you know like you said he plays bigger than his size um I like that he had like incremental growth over the years as well and he’s gotten better so um yeah I think you know Denver he he’d be a nice fit you know Off the Bench I’m sold I’m sold okay last guy for for today is a combined uh pick from both of you guys it’s Kyle filipowski I guess a Polish American guy a sophomore 611 forward SL big I’m guessing really a big from duke so two guy two two years at the at a college level good scoring numbers good rebounding numbers although he had had a bit of a drop off in in his second season with rebounds um I’ve heard a lot of people saying that Kyle would be a pretty good solution for the Nuggets is he like a like a passing big man that could uh that could emulate what the nuggets are doing uh with yic of course on a on a much um uh lower scale with with the bench unit yeah I think with with um with flip this year he actually played uh more as like the center this year compared to last year he played next to Derek Lively so he played a lot of the four um you know last year so I think that’s why we saw a little bit of the the rebounding kind of decline um because like the surrounding players too next to him we’re not like as big you know either but yeah know I think that um you he could play as the bench big uh like emulating Yoku to a certain extent where he’s a really good passer um you know out of double teams he’s a really good passer out of the post um you know really quick decision maker as well so I think that’s like a lot of the problem with the Nuggets bench offensively is that they play like two different styles of ball you know like with yic you have that one style where he’s you know orchestrating the offense and everything like that and then with the bench it’s just kind of like you know Murray go out there and and pray that his shot goes in so I I think with uh with flip you could you know run a lot of offense through him you know in the paint um he’s he upped his volume this year you know shooting the ball um better percentage I mean you know 35% from three so he could you know stretch the floor um pretty like quick on his feet as far as attacking Closeouts as well so you could play five out there um there’s been some concerns about his defense but he’s a pretty big body um and I think you could play like yishow where like at the level of the screen instead of being in like a drop and I think too Off the Bench if you surround him with Christian Brown and and Watson that also will make up for kind of his deficiencies there so um if holm’s off the board I kind of like flip as as an option there I know he’s uh was invited to the Green Room so we’ll see if he lasts to 28 unless Denver decides to like move up a couple spots but I think he’d be he’d be a great option you know especially like like we said before if they get a veteran big and he could kind of be like the platoon option behind that big as well so you don’t have to like play him on like a nightly basis but kind of provides a different kind of look to to Denver’s bench it’s what makes him Holmes and Freeman all kind of intriguing options is that they are centers who have more on ball ability right than your typical Center so they can replicate that joic ball a bit more um he’s fun he can grab and go rebounds you know so even for a a center like he’ll bring it up the core I really like his ability off the dribble to attack close outs um his face up game you know and the the percentages aren’t amazing as a shooter but I when you watch him he’s taking tough shots he’s taking shots at the end of the shot clock he’s shooting over guys he’s shooting off the BS and I think we’ve seen a theme with these Duke Duke guys who we see them at Duke and we think ah a bit of a limited ceiling and then when we see them with better spacing b Caro Tatum Jaylen Johnson uh they they actually look better and you think this guy’s a true seven-footer playing with Derek Lively in the front court and expected to be like Duke’s offensive Hub that’s hard to do as an 18-year-old without much spacing um so I think he’s a guy who could who could really benefit from from the added spacing that you have in the NBA and I I’m convinced last year he probably goes higher than jet Howard and Derrik Lively again in the great wemy draft Yeah and this year you could we talking about him at 28 like what are we even talking about that would be an unbelievable steal so I I would really like him and uh just wish he had longer longer wingspan because his wingspan’s like 610 even though he’s a true seven footer so he’s got the Brown issue with so then you have two of those guys off the bench yeah listen guys we know K is not afraid to draft a white guy with short wingspan so you know let’s hope a guy like Kyle uh drops to 28 so we can snack him I’m I’m soling him as well okay before we go I just wanted to take a couple of minutes to talk about the two Nicolas in this draft because the Nuggets drafted Nicola yic exactly 10 years ago and haven’t drafted a single Nicola since and I think we can all agree that none of the picks after Nikola yic were as good as Nikolai yic so so true why not just try to do a flyer on another Nicola and see what happens of course Nicola topic probably will be out of the uh reach because he was projected to be like a top five pick before it was discovered that he uh ACL has a like a partial tear in it so it’s still unclear if he’ll have to have a procedure on it or if he’ll just have to have a prolonged uh rest on it but you can see his numbers uh he is a 18-year-old 66 Guard from Red Star these numbers you see here are from Mega actually playing in Adriatic League last season I wanted to show those because those are really impressive 18 points seven assists on 52 26 85 splits um I remember first time honestly I saw him when when he was 17 year old playing for a uh under 18 team Serbia at the Euro uh EUR European championship last year he was by far the best player on that team and I was talking to Voya about him and I was like I don’t like this guy he plays like Luca the ball is in his hands all the time and like he decides on everything and why was like but do you see how much better he is than any everybody he should be doing that and yeah he was actually right of course uh nikol toic is a really great Prospect and we’ll see how how far he will drop because of the injury concern on the other hand Nicolas jurit should be available in second round he’s a 20-year-old he’s also a guard but he’s 68 which is pretty exciting pretty trending in the NBA also played for Mega last season um not as many points 14 points per game 3.4 assists uh slightly worse shooting splits but he is a very athletic uh well for a for a Serbian white guy at least and and he he is passible on defense as well so I don’t know where he will land but uh I’m not sure he would be interested in into coming to the NBA to be a two-way guy after being picked in second round but you never know you never know I mean at one point two way guys two two way guys are going to have bigger salary than regular Euroleague players so yeah that might be the pat for him do do you have any anything to add on these two prospects C the floor is yours yeah I a topage for me on my board I have him as a top three guy in the class I just really like his uh what I saw on the tape with him you know being a bigger guard um you know and that production at that level you know playing in you know one of the probably the second best league in uh you know in all of basketball so I have a top three grade on him you know I know the three-point percentage maybe was a little bit lower than um I think he’s capable of shooting but I really like buy his ability in the NBA to um to carve out a really nice role as a point guard um and returning like top five value in the class and then uh the jich I really like his ability to just he kind of plays mean and I like that um he plays like he’s you know wants to like you know rip your rip your heart out out there so I think that’s that’s pretty cool um but yeah I would honestly like the jur I know we didn’t get to really talk to about him you know with the other prospects but um you know him being a bigger guard for Denver I think defensively maybe a little bit of a concern there but um I think youd be a good option as another Creator Off the Bench so I really like you know their games and I think they’re gonna you know make it in the league yeah no top pitch is the top guy for me I I believe the shot will come the free throw rate is so good on decent volume and against you know grown men who are the the scouting reports just a little different right how it’s applied um so to to already have that success I think it’ll come around and the the upside is really really high offensively durich same thing but he’s a bit of a he’s one of of these Serbian prospects who’s a little crazier poku yic like wild Mozart of basketball like who knows maybe he’s an All-Star maybe he’s in Euro league in in two years I really don’t know what to expect him I was super bummed when he didn’t declare last year yeah uh because I thought the momentum was higher and it’s funny this year start of the year no momentum at all as soon as topic goes from his lone uh back to Red Star then the doors open for durich to just explode and he started shooting it at rates we didn’t see last year and that’s what gets you really excited it’s just like you’re dreaming on traits there and we’ll see what actually happens we’ll see when he comes over you know he’s a he’s a long-term project for me yeah I’m I’m just gonna shoot from my hip and say that I I expect topic to be the best guy from this Draft when it’s all said and done which is which is a pretty crazy thing to say right now but I’m not as high on on the two French guys on on top of the uh draft pyramid at this moment I might be of course completely wrong because what do I know okay that is all we have prepared for you today my dear listener and please for the love of God take that word prepared very Loosely I would like to thank all my patreon supporters and especially my SEO tier supporters Peter plumber and Daniel Lynch 1. If Ware, Filipowski, & Holmes are gone trade 28 to Pacers for 36 & 40. Draft Tristen Newton, Kevin McCullar, & Quinten Post (2-way). Sign Huff, Vlatko, & Justin Holiday, UDFA Oso Ighodaro )2.way. Zeke is on the roster for now but might be able to trade Reggie, Zeke, and something after July 1st. If we could get all 3 of Indiana's 2nd round picks we could add Jaylon Tyson before Kevin McCullar, if fact, might have to take him at 36.

  2. Denver should really go for Bogdanovic as it would mean the loss of MPJ. In first place this season, he gave us 40 points and set the Atlanta franchise record with 10 three-pointers in one game. Second, at the end of the season, in the game with the Nets, he had a fierce conflict with Atlanta coach Snyder, you can find it on YT, which says that Bogi is not happy in Atlanta and Denver needs such a player who wants a ring. In addition, he is a better player than MPJ, take a look you have a lot of videos on YT.
