Chicago Bulls Latest Trade Buzz and Free Agency Rumors

Chicago Bulls Latest Trade Buzz and Free Agency Rumors

this is probably the most anticipated week of the offseason for the Chicago Bulls we’ve got the draft coming up on Wednesday and Thursday still bizarre to me that they’ve turned this into a two-day event for just 58 draft picks but then we’ll likely have trade rumors swirling around over the next 48 hours maybe even some trades that actually go down between now and then hell there might already be a significant change between the time I’m recording and editing this video when I upload it kind of like how I uploaded a video and then the Caruso trade just dropped 2 minutes after that but regardless given this is going to be a week with a lot of moving Parts not just for the Bulls but around the NBA as a whole I thought it would be a good time to discuss some of the latest news and rumors that are going on with the bull specifically some you might have already heard of but wanted to share for those that have not and also provide my take on it as well so let’s talk about it and I would love to hear your guys’ thoughts on it in the comments so what’s going on everyone you’re listening to Bull Central here hope you’re all doing well it’s crazy because not only do we have the draft this week which obviously comes with it a lot of movement throughout the NBA but then we also have free agency technically starting at the end of this week on Sunday night if you remember the league changed the rules where teams can begin negotiating and signing players as early as 6:00 p.m. Eastern instead of midnight on July 1st which of course we all know is a fars teams are always talking and tampering well before that day but you know what I mean the point is by this time next week the draft will have been completed and we’ll probably get about 50% of all free agency signings by next Monday thus this Bulls team could look very different a week from today now some of the latest Buzz that has been floating around on the Bulls front and I believe this came came out on Friday was from Jake Fischer where he detailed some additional potential suitors for Patrick Williams we had heard I believe it was a couple weeks ago the Thunder had actually shown interest in Pat and it’s actually believed by most around the league that the Josh giddy trade and the Bulls pursuit of giddy was actually going to be done via a sign and trade for Patrick Williams rather than a straight swap for Alex kabuso maybe a potential sign and trade could still be in the works if the Thunder are really really high on Pat and they want to bolster their defense even further but after getting Alex Caruso you’d have to think they’re probably going to be focusing on additional moves elsewhere but according to Jake fer not only did he detail the Thunder’s interest remained interest anyway in Patrick Williams but the Charlotte Hornets and the Toronto Raptors being potential suitors as well now if the Hornets strike out on Miles Bridges and are not able to retain him in free agency then yeah I could see them aggressively trying to pursue a young player Like Pat who they could probably get if they overpay him and the Bulls aren’t willing to match that offer the Hornets could certainly use any young Talent they could get to further bolster what they already have with Brandon Miller and L Melo ball I will say as much as I do think the Bulls are going to ultimately retain Patrick Williams and keep him on the roster and they may even get him to agree to a deal before free agency opens so they don’t run the risk of him getting a big offer sheet but the Charlotte Hornets are one team that I would be afraid of and just throwing big money at Pat the kind of money where it just does not make sense for the Bulls to match because as much as we clown our own front office and their level of incompetence the Charlotte Hornets are Next Level bad when it comes to the type of contracts they’ve thrown out to players in recent years like that of Gordon Hayward before him Nicholas patum just to name a few there is a world where that could happen where the Hornets try to make a big splash just to desperately try and have any semblance of relevancy if they’re able to keep Bridges then yeah I wouldn’t be worried about it but if Bridges walks oof the Bulls might be forced into a bad situation where they have to match an overpay from the Hornets the Raptors this one’s kind of interesting because from a timeline perspective the Raptors and them rebuilding it makes sense and while yes the Raptors have some cap space they’re also going to need to pay Emanuel quickly who they just acquired at the deadline Scotty Barnes is going to be eligible for an extension this summer uh Gary Trent Jr also a free agent are they going to let him walk so yes they could give Pat an offer sheet but I don’t see it being so compelling or so high that the Bulls wouldn’t be able to match because they don’t have the C flexibility to give Pat a massive deal that would make the Bulls uneasy to match I will say I’m surprised we’re not hearing more Rumblings of the Pelicans being linked to Patrick Williams that they have more space than anyone else in the NBA they need all the talent they can get and actually try and start building a winning roster they could give Pat a big offer sheet and still have space to sign other free agents but as of right now there haven’t been any rumors linked to the Pistons pursuing Patrick Williams now let’s move on to Zack LaVine because that’s obviously going to be the biggest Focus for the Bulls this off season and what they are going to do and whether they’ll be able to find a trade partner for Zack line I mentioned this in the video that went live at the same time the Caruso trade was announced but I was talking about Casey Johnson since recent report of the bulls having floated around 15 different trade proposals throughout the NBA including teams like the magic Sixers Jazz and the Kings for Zack LaVine now I mentioned how the only way I could see a Zack LaVine to the Sacramento Kings Trade happening is if Malik monk leaves in free agency which a lot of people speculated would be the case because the kings are only able to offer him so much money due to his early birth rights but since then we obviously got the news that monk did sign an extension with the Kings to remain with the franchise and right when that happened I thought okay well the kings are out they’re not going to be interested in Zack LaVine but evidently according to Jake fiser and his recent reporting there is still interest on the king’s part in landing LaVine despite being able to retain Malik monk my guess is the kings are likely only interested in Zach as a way to get out of their two not so great contracts and Harrison Barnes and Kevin herder which I said before if there aren’t any picks included in a deal like that or even one of their young players in a package that included Harrison Barnes and Kevin herder yeah it’s not worth it because you’re not really saving that much money to give you more flexibility from a c perspective when you’re taking on a combined salary between Barnes and herder at near $35 million now there were some reports that the Sixers are actually not interested in pursuing Zack LaVine in a trade but Jake Fischer actually cleared that up saying they only covet LaVine as a backup option should other opportunities for them fall through like going after Paul George or maybe another big name to potentially trade for in other words other dominoes would have to fall that would not go in the Sixers favor before they start seriously considering Zack LaVine uh the jzz I have haven’t really heard anything on the Jazz front other than that discussions have been had on what a trade for Zach would look like I still find that one a bit weird though because Zack line doesn’t fit the Jazz timeline he doesn’t really Elevate the team enough to where they’re now just going to be competitive I guess the only way I can really see this is if the Bulls are willing to take on John Collins and Jordan Clarkson’s contract so the Jazz can dump some of their salary which the Bulls sure as hell better not be interested in that because it doesn’t put them in that much better of a situation than they currently find themselves in from a cap asset standpoint by just keeping Zack LaVine so yeah I don’t know we’ll see what ends up happening with Zach I have very little hope and low expectations that the Bulls are going to be able to extract any kind of value in a Zack LaVine trade and then the other two names that have been floating around that the Bulls have been interested in which both of these I find very bizarre especially after the trade they just made for Josh giddy but the Bulls expressed interest in both Clint capella and cavius cwell pope now the interestes in Capella was actually reported before the Josh giddy trade but the kcp note which also came from Jake fiser was actually after the Bulls acquired Josh giddy in a trade and the reason I say this one is a little strange is because the Bulls finally trading Caruso and getting a younger play in return suggest that there is potentially a new Direction the franchise is going in one that is taking a step back and starting over a bit going after kcp would be a win now Type move I like kobble Po hustle Defender can also space the floor I mentioned how he’s a potential free agent the Bulls could land in a recent video but but those free agency options that I discussed in that video were all under the premise that the Bulls were going to be running this thing back again because most of us legitimately believe that would be the case kcp is 31 and you’re not going to be able to get him on a minimum deal I don’t even know if you could get him for the full mid-level exception so I honestly don’t even know how the Bulls would acquire him unless it’s via signning trade and that point you’re going to trade assets to get cavius cwell Pope that’s a weird one to me uh for Clint capella I mean I would have liked to have capella on this team two years ago and he was one of the top Rim protectors in the NBA and one of the best finishers around the basket with his offensive rebounding I wouldn’t be opposed to getting capella because it likely means vvi is gone and while I don’t know if we can definitively say that capella is better than V they’re very different players with different skill sets but capella is three years younger and on an expiring contract which gives you more cost flexibility for the future but going back to what I was saying with kcp that’s still a win now Type move if you’re trading for capella who just turned 30 years old if you’re looking for a Vu replacement the best course of action is to just draft a big out number 11 and develop him into being a starting caliber Center down line but anyway those are the latest rumors and Buzz going around the league as being reported by various folks within the media it’s going to be a wild next few 48 to 72 hours I am really looking forward to the draft and seeing all the drama that is about to unfold let me know your thoughts on some of these trade rumors let me know in the comments as always be sure to subscribe and I will see you in the next one

  1. Trade Zach for Huerter, and whoever else the Kings throw at the Bulls. Get rid of that contract by any means. Can’t rebuild with that rotting fish under the seat.

  2. If we get KCP after just trading Caruso I will flashy thing myself like from Men in Black.. I wouldn't be able to go on anymore

  3. I have no clue what this front office is trying to do anymore. It’s kinda of a sad position we’re in. I’m fully expecting to be a trash team this year.

  4. If they can just honestly unload Zach’s contract and sign other pieces that will be a win for the bulls

  5. I hope we keep Williams, it is too early to count him out. Now with more shots available let’s see what he can do. Don’t want to give up on him quite yet
