$50M for a 42 year old

Come home king. We will draft your boy at 31
SomborDouble95
The fact that I trust this contract more than Scottie Barnes’ potential 250 mil payout is a testament to Lebron’s longevity and work-ethic.
WembyOKCJokicReaves
If it wasn’t obvious before the Lakers chances of contending for a championship are FINISHED
Bigschusta
Lakers aren’t a serious team.
FERFreak731
Hmm, a LeBron making 53 million in the 2026 – 2027 season might increase the value of the pick the Jazz got from them
DomoSaysHello
They would’ve given him the 5 years if he wanted.
shanmustafa
i don’t understand why some people are so against it, when i listen to Simmons and Russilo talk about it they act like it would be terrible
he just averaged 26/7/8 on 63% TS
28/7/9 on 64% TS in the playoffs
and all his advanced stats still say this is a top 5-8 guy in the league
toldyaso
I watched the Lakers give Kobe one extension too many, and now they’re doing it with LeBron.
WolverineLong1430
Come on Lakers, you can offer more than three years. 5 years max, make it happen
Deep-Ferret-695
I mean at worst he’s like a 6’9” Chris Paul in that last year
Deep-Ferret-695
People acting like other teams wouldn’t give him a three year max right now
OmegaMan1818
Lakers were a couple Jamal Murray shots away from the finals this year.
Smooth_97
I remember everyone was hating when Kobe signed his last extrention of 2 years/48.5M
I don’t want to hear it, Bron absolutely deserve this
LoxDnw
40 yr old getting paid 50M lol
_Zap_Rowsdower_
That’s rough. And the Lakers have choice. Doesn’t matter if he takes a paycut. Might as well give him the max.
FrankSamples
They should give him a stake in the franchise

24 seasons? Unreal
littlehabib
important to note lebron can retire at any point, he doesn’t have to stay the 3rd year. so win-win if he accepted it because he can just call it quits
they can’t offer more than 3 years because of the over 38 rule. so even if that rule didnt exist, and they offered him another 5 years, he could retire after the next season and everything would be fine
Little_little_e
Why don’t LeBron just leave the Lakers and join other team ?
KcoolClap
People acting like Lebron at 40 isn’t better than 95% of the league.
saravcii_
People acting like he’s washed need to look at his stats.
Dod93_
Soooo I guess that guarantees Lakers are taking lil Bronny then, right?
Pro_phet
Any team would and should give him this same deal just off branding alone.
naslanidis
I mean purely from a basketball perspective there’s not a lot of value for money in that contract.
realfakejames
Lebron playing for 24 seasons would be insane, but if there’s any guy who’s ever going to do it then it would be Lebron, he is simply built different
Consider the fact Lebron last year at 39 had a near identical and slightly better year than he had when he went back to Cleveland after he was in Miami at 30, guys who were drafted years after him are already washed, guys like Curry are already in their decline, Steph at 35 had two of his worst shooting seasons of his career in 2 of the last 3 years, Lebron is just outlasting all of his rivals at this point
QueAsc0
LeBron needs all the money he can get if he’s serious about owning a team. He’s rich, but not NBA owner rich yet
pimpdad1
If he does sign the three year contract, you guys think he finishes it? Or retires before the contract is over?
KindaIntense
Just curious, but wouldn’t he want to take a pay cut to try get help? If championships really are the ultimate goal. Like the Timmy D/Tom Brady way? Surely money isn’t a driver at this point? Or is this so he doesn’t set a precedent of underpaying a superstar? Pretty sad if this is the case.

What’s the point?
Let him go like they did shaq

I will not understand other Laker fans who oppose this. LeBron deserves this and still brings a lot to the table. Say what you will about team building but nothing you can do with the assets this team has can bring what LeBron does
Raj2324
Expected. Makes sense for both sides
