The NBA’s History of Championship Trades ๐Ÿ†

throughout the course of NBA history there have only been a handful of times where a team made a major trade and then won the title that same season this year’s Celtics did it and I think the other examples might surprise you the most recent examples were ad to the Lakers in 2020 and of course was probably the ultimate example the Raptors trading for Kawai in 2019 but if you remember what was so tough about that trade it was that they traded away a fan favorite kind of like how the Celtics traded Marcus Smart best comp for what the Celtics did last off season is really the 2008 Celtics when they made multiple trades for Ray all and kg believe it or not the Celtics have actually done this another time when they traded for Robert Parish and Kevin mccale the off season before winning the 1981 title the first ever example of a team doing this was probably the 1970 Milwaukee Bucks when they traded for Oscar Roberts and then yeah there have been a few others over the years but the Rasheed Wallace one’s the most interesting cuz that was a deadline move and let me tell you those almost never pay off

  1. KCP to the nuggets (though he isnโ€™t a star, just a phenomenal defender), Jrue to the Bucks come more recently than AD

  2. moses malone trade to philly is the greatest ever. 1983 philly can run with any team, past and present

  3. Okay, the 1980 Celtics were great butโ€ฆ Joe Barry Carroll is crazy underappreciated.

  4. woah! i would have never guessed that if u somehow trade bags of chips for an all-star calliber player MULTIPLE TIMES ur gonna win more!

  5. Would Rodman to '96 Bulls qualify? To me it does

Plus it hits both things, winning a 'ship

& they had to trade away HUGE FAN FAV TO DO IT
