[John Fanta] The Boston Celtics get an absolute gem of a selection in Baylor Scheierman. The guy is so incredibly skilled offensively. Has the makeup of someone who will play 10+ years in the league. Elite feel and IQ. Unlimited range. Terrific add for Brad Stevens and Boston.

Watching his highlights you can tell he has a great feel for the game. Passing is especially good as he delivers the ball where his teammate is going to be not where they are. High hopes for Baylor

  2. Should be good off the bench watched his film the other day imagine Jazz Joe Ingles

    Great shooter

    great wing rebounding

    good connective passing

    – kinda bad on defense but sam was turned into a fine one so it’s ok

  3. MLS_Analyst

He killed UConn this year without even really shooting it well. Just set the tone & controlled the game.

Really excellent player who could end up being an elite 6th man-type.

  4. Might be the worst defender in the draft but he can definitely play on offense. We’ll see if he’s relegated to hauser’s current role of spot up shooter but he has a lot more to offer. He can put the ball on the floor and is a great passer and playmaker. Can help out on the boards too. You just hope he improves defensively or makes up for it with his offense.

  5. DatDamGermanGuy

If all of that was true, why did 29 teams pass n him?

  6. chr31terma

I went to DePaul, and I’d have to double check to be absolutely certain, but I’m pretty sure he made every shot he took against us for the past two years.

…at least it felt that way.

  7. coacoanutbenjamn

He’s going to be 24 his rookie season so idk about 10+ years lol but I like that he’s an older prospect

  8. TheInfinityOfThought

Seems like a Hauser replacement. If that’s all he ever is, I’d be happy since most guys drafted at 30 don’t amount to much in the NBA.

  9. crimdawgg

We said this about Nesmith lol I won’t get my hopes super high until I see it

  10. Xekshek33

Watched him a lot as a UConn fan and he is indeed really good.

    Really happy with this pick

  11. I like the pick, he was mocked to the Celts a lot and it makes a lot of sense. He just seems like a Brad Stevens type of player. Very good shooter that is also a good passer. Capable of bringing the ball up and running the offense. Has decent size and good on the boards. Balled out during March Madness, too. Could potentially be Hauser’s replacement if they can’t re-sign him. Will make watching summer league fun.

Can’t wait for summer league when he drops 30+

I can’t tell with these highlight videos anymore.

I watched back to back Hauser and Drew Peterson college highlights a while back and Peterson actually looked more skilled. Guess we will see because he would be another shooter and potential replacement for Hauser if he leaves.

Providence fan, so I’ve watched plenty of him between Creighton and the RO64 game for SDSU back in 2022. He is such a skilled player and is the type to take over a game without even shooting necessarily well, although he mostly does. Really big body and loves to follow his shots. Should be an ELITE corner crashers

  15. minimumhatred

We played it safe which makes perfect sense, we could use a replacement for Hauser if he gets too expensive, smart pick by Brad.

  16. I hope he can contribute right away and we don’t send him to Maine for the whole season.

This is a guy that could potentially start in a couple years, as a SG between DWhite and JB, once Jrue leaves us or retires.

He takes Svi’s spot, so now just give me a VIABLE stretch big in Luke or Oshae’s place and I’m happy. I’d love it if we could make a trade up for Fillipowski

  18. kevinllama21

Love the pick a little curious and Wondering why we didn’t go for Kyle Filipowski though. Similar stats, almost 7 foot and younger. We’ll see how he does! Stoked either way

  19. supapoopascoopa

I like his shooting, smooth stroke. Decent height. 2/10 athleticism. He is one year older than the world’s youngest grandfather.

  20. Feed my man Baylor Mazzulla Ball immediately!!!

  21. Get_your_grape_juice

He’ll be tearing it up in Turkey with Yam Madar by 2026.

  22. BradWonder

If eirher he or Walsh are able to play and contribute this season, it’s a huge win. Imagine if it’s both 🤤

We’d have the deepest perimeter rotation in the league

  23. fearofaflatplanet

Based solely on the guys mixtape that I just watched partway through:

Hell of a stroke. Jfc dude just slings it, fast and effortless and accurate. He’s going to get a lot of open shots if he plays.

Seems to have very fluid, graceful movement and like *a step ahead* almost, though his speed nothing remarkable

Also Baylor Shierman sounds a little like Bill Sharman and I think that’s a good omen

Edit: just saw that dude was a state champion high school qb. In Nebraska. All hail Brad, I love this pick. Rondo was also a state champion HS qb iirc

  24. Drawing_The_Line

When I heard the selection I thought we drafted an optometrist or something. I admittedly don’t follow any level of basketball outside of the NBA, but I did a double take when I saw it come across the screen. Hopefully he can make an impact on our bench unit.

  25. internetosaurus

Older so probably higher floor lower ceiling. Can shoot and defense is questionable – what’s his work ethic like? Rebounds, can pass, and scores at multiple levels. I think he makes sense for this team going forward.

    Godspeed Baylor.

  26. Creighton was one of my favorite teams to watch so I can break them down some.

Their style was ultraconservative on D with the lowest foul rate in the country. They NEVER got to the stripe and focused almost exclusively on crisp ball movement, cross court player movement, some screens, pindowns, handoffs around a 7 ft hub, etc., basically the watered down version of a solid NBA style. This translates to fun ball and usually good success.

They had the lowest foul rate in the country, LEAD by our newest guy at only 1.8 fouls/40. He knows how to defend without fouling already. The concern here is the borderline athleticism allowed for that in college but not the pros, time will tell.

They were top 10 in assist rate, 3pt frequency, Opp assist rate, and opp 3 pt frequency. THEY ARE A MATH TEAM LIKE WE ARE. He knows the concepts, so he won’t have to relearn, just play like his has been. That’s huge for developing young guys

I’ve talked myself into him and some Creighton film lol
