Klay Thompson Situation gets even WORSE

clay you can slide down here too my [Music] boy only a few days ago we discovered that Klay Thompson stopped following the Warriors account on Instagram started following players on teams that he seemed interested in and demanded a three-year contract from the Warriors a contract he wasn’t worth before the season started today that situation has somehow gotten worse hey what’s happening everyone this is Swiss culture Klay Thompson and the Warriors have yet to reach an agreement on a contract and with every passing day it continues to seem less and less likely the impetus for clay to get the contract he wants then is to test the free agency Waters which if he gets a three-year deal would likely see the end of Klay Thompson as a warrior well buckle up because things are about to get real interesting news just broke that there were some negotiations just recently between clay in Golden state that again fell apart and with Clay about to hit free agency the saga continues and will likely be even worse for clay when it’s all said and done stay tuned and watch the entire video for all the details but before that don’t forget to like the video and subscribe to switch culture for the most analytical and entertaining NBA content on the planet now get ready you’re about to get [Applause] [Music] so after Klay unfollowed the Warriors earlier in the week apparently he went on to delete some photos as well now I wasn’t able to verify some of those claims so some of the rumors about him deleting photos might not be true it isn’t much of a stretch however considering between clay and his agent the goal is for him to get the contract he wants so we discussed in the last video that clay was looking for a three-year deal that’s a tough ass consider ing the team didn’t think he was worth a three-year contract prior to the beginning of the 2024 NBA season he was offered the 2-year 48 million because post injury clay has been a shell of pre-injury clay truthfully clay has been less impactful than a player the Warriors recently got rid of and that player is Jordan P prior to Clay’s return Jordan p in the starting lineup alongside Steph Curry had the Warriors going 28 and 7 to start the regular season Once clay returned he was put right into the warrior starting lineup and the team went 17- 15 P was a big contributor to the Warriors winning the NBA finals coming up clutch against the Boston Celtics and putting on the most exciting NBA final show in The Last 5 Years with Klay shooting historically low from distance averaging 20 points on 18 shots per game and shooting just 38.5% from three the following year saw clay put up 22 points per game on 18 attempts while shooting 41% from distance the Warriors were first round exits and Clay was nowhere to be found in the playoffs averaging 18 1 12 points on 17 shots in 36 minutes while shooting 38.8% from the field the warriors were the highest paid team at the time and that triggered the extension year offer for clay of 2 years 48 million he started the 2024 season even worse averaging just 15 and a half points in his first 20 games that 24 million a year offer began looking like an overpay for Klay Thompson who was playing worse than ever and was the healthiest he’s been since 2018 eventually playing 77 games this season with a 10th seed and failure to make the playoffs and Klay again not showing up in the elimination game against the Kings him averaging 18 points on 15 shots this season it’s Unthinkable what kind of offer clay would hope to get considering he didn’t play nearly as well in a contract year despite being given ample opportunity so here’s where it gets worse after everything I just stated it was incon able that the Warriors could offer clay the same contract they thought he was worth at the end of the year considering he is clearly no longer the team’s second option they already paid him for the Championships he helped the team win and suffice it to say the last championship was Steph Curry Andrew Wiggins Draymond Green and Jordan pool despite clay rejecting prior offers the Warriors again made clay another contract offer this was another 2-year deal and although the specifics aren’t known it is rumored as per Brian windhorse to likely be something in the 20s of millions per year prior to this I estimated the Warriors would offer clay about 2 years and 40 million which would be more than fair so this 2-year deal was recently offered to Clay possibly this past week which is around when he made himself available for free agency the real stickler for clay is apparently the number of years on the contract and considering he’s taking a pay cut he’s looking at Wiggins making 25 million in 4 years Draymond making 25 million in 4 years and thinking he’s got to get at least three years to be on the same contract length as those guys should clay be making the same amount of money as Draymond I suppose the argument could be made for draymond’s at times lack of availability and in the case of Wiggins his issues related to his mental health and off Court situation you could even stretch that to wiggin’s play at the beginning of the season but as one of the best defenders on the team and still just 29 years old Wiggins has plenty of room still this was a sticking point for clay as players seem to covet the respect of of the longer term contracts and security what this means is that the Warriors do not think Clay is worth a three-year contract something clay clearly disagrees with for reasons Beyond just the money but for the respect so then things took yet another turn for the worst after clay made himself available in free agency talks the entire league knowing he wants a three-year deal the Orlando Magic have come out and said they were not willing to sign clay to a three-year deal they were only looking for short-term contracts to to fill out highlevel role players and signing Thompson to a three-year deal was absolutely not in the cards so not only have the Warriors told clay they can’t give him that deal the rest of the league seem to feel the same way about Klay so what does this mean Klay is going to go into free agency and it might take some time for him to get signed not only that it is going to be rather embarrassing for clay if he can’t come to an agreement with a team if word gets around that teams don’t think he’s worth a three-year deal no one is going to be the sucker that gives the agent Superstar a three-year deal in an era where young players are dominating and last decade Superstars are deteriorating if he’s hurting the team at 34 years old and throwing Tantrums about being in the starting lineup leading to the team suffering overall because clay wants to put up more shots imagine what will happen when you’re paying this player 25 million a year 3 years down the road in full decline that’s a lot of taxes for a player that is actually making your team worse especially when you need him to show up finally I see only two ways out of this the Warriors might offer clay something like 3 years and 60 million that’s an additional roster spot in $12 million to keep the group together my instincts tell me Clay is looking for something more along the lines of 3 years 75 million which is not very likely to happen and that Gap in the discussion is going to cause things to sour while it’s possible clay takes the pay cut considering he doesn’t have any other options on the table he might take the pay cut from a different team just out of spite which would be extremely Petty and a stain on his Legacy if he did that so I’m hoping he doesn’t do something like that and hopes the Warriors regret not giving him the deal he wanted should the Warriors offer clay a 3year $75 million deal or stick to their guns on the 2-year deal should clay accept a 2-year deal and take one for the team to hopefully add pieces to contend or lastly should both parties compromise on maybe a 3year 60 million option if not maybe they just retract their offer let clay go where he’s going and focus on building their Contender considering that as of June 30th Clay is no longer a part of the team and a free agent like any other post your thoughts in the comments below but before that don’t forget to like the video subscribe to the channel and turn on all your notifications so you Klay is in for a surprise

  1. When Klay Thompson went down in 2019 Finals, they did not win a chip. Matter of fact, they didn't win a chip after that until Klay came back in 2022. That said, I don't understand what Klay's complaint is. The Warriors paid him $189 Million dollars on a 5 year contract when he was injured and couldn't play for nearly 3 seasons. He's complaining and blaming the Warriors because he started shooting poorly after 2022 and became "Klank" Thompson??? Make it make sense Klay. I do think the Warriors not giving him the contract he wanted contributed to his shooting woes. It's like bro can't perform well unless he gets paid what he wants.

  2. Klay, like everyone, should do what he wants. If he wants to seriously challenge for a championship in GS, he needs to take a steep paycut and come off the bench. That's just the sands of time, running through the hourglass. If he wants to get paid, say in Orlando (which is a good fit for both), then I am happy for him. What I don't want to see is him getting any semblance of payment for "past" championships. Klay simply isn't that player anymore, and it's time to move on.

  3. Klay could extend his career if he followed an arc like how Ray Allen did for his post Boston career…a sharpshooting KEY role player on a championship level team. Klay however seems to have a slight arrogance issue though. So he might not accept that.

  4. GSW found outlier on the Devil’s contract last 2022 but this time, not anymore…

time for the payback to all those shenanigans, suck that it starts with JP but KT before Donkey Green? We will still on to it.

  5. If I was Klay I won't waste my time to a team like GSW that doesn't respect and appreciate him!.. GSW is done!…Go to a team that can compete and have another on it!…

  6. Yall saying he's being greedy, but is the goal not to get the most money as possible (especially for someone who has championships).

He just had to be prepared to walk if they/warriors won't pay him want he wants.

  7. I don’t get what Klay is mad about. They gave him a max contract after being injured. Where is he coming from?

  8. Hes done alot for the warriors i dont blame him for want to still be paid. Dont be upset though when he wearing a different color.

  9. The warriors looked after Clay. He should show a little respect to the organisation. I'm a neutral and I wouldn't say that in most players cases. He however is the exception to the rule.

  10. Literally predicted this a couple years ago.i was watching a game and suddenly became aware of his efforts on the court. he was standing still. Watching instead of playing hardly made his shots and was ass on defense. i as a joke asked my wife outloud why is he on the team again? Hes useless.and now here we are.

  11. Ever since that injury, he hasn't been the same every team knows this dude is going to get a slice of that humble pie very soon.

  12. He should’ve been working on his game instead of telling anyone that would listen “I have 4 rings” 🙄

  13. The Curry, Klay/Klank, and cancerous Draymond unit should be done. Curry is the only keeper in the group. The other 2 are more problems than assets. The team needs to get younger and move on from has beens. Old teams don’t win titles

  14. Klay forgetting the warriors had his back when he was injured for 2 years, even gave him a new big contract then. Now he needs to pay the favor back, enable the team to afford new talent.

  15. tbh klay hasn't been the same since his injury. he's no longer an late-game option, he cannot play defense because he cant move laterally anymore, homie became the most unreliable weak link on the team during the most crucial games of the season, plus, didnt he get like 200milly while injured a few years ago….maybe im tripping. i personally thinks he need to retire if he cannot accept his best days are completely gone. Now! he would be great with a few teams. Spurs, 76ers, Thunder, maybe Bulls for a zach lavine?

  16. Klay needs to just man up and take a 2 year for less money to PROVE himself again. He sat on the bench for 2 years straight making insane money. Time to give some of that back and contribute to winning. Greed will not win championships.

  17. Klay had a really good career before the two major injuries. He's unable to provide anything other than catch and shoot from 3pt range. I don't see any reason the Warriors would offer him a contract at all. He was basically a hindrance to winning last season. Financially the Warriors are not in position to waste money.
Klay should take a 2 yr contract for a team desperate for outside shooting. Beyond that, he's going to be getting paid not to play.

  18. Try less gain on the microphone audio or just less volume in general as it stands out a bit too much from the background sounds. Overall – great take!

  19. It was greed that eventually ruined Demarcus Cousins ' ability to get the bag when he held out against what the Kings offered him. klay is in the same boat now. he should accept the offer and the bench role now.

  20. He travelled badly at the 1:00 mark. Didn't even try to cover it up. Just caught the pass and took like 5 baby steps to get in his shooters position, then missed everything. Yeah, he's too old and washed up. He's dreaming if he wants a 3 yr contract at what? $30 mil/yr?
