Edey was crushing workouts

I hah heard that mentioned elsewhere. Edey was too intense and teams couldn't find other prospects who could contain him.

Best part of that is hearing about how intensely he plays and what a teammate he is. Love that for the Grizzlies. Good culture guy. Good competitor. A winner.

I’m sold! Let me know when I can pick up my jersey

Effort has never been the concern with Edey.

I don’t doubt he crushed workouts, his motor in addition to just being as big and long as he is means he probably looks awesome in a workout setting.

No suprise. He was the best player in NCAA 2 years in a row. The stigma against big men doesn’t apply to him. We’ve never seen a guy his size who can play every minute of a game going all out as the focal point of the offense. It’s INSANE how much stamina and conditioning this guy displays. HE is gonna get other teams in foul trouble quick. He’s gonna bully other centers. None of them have his size. He has a mean streak and a chip on his shoulder. I think if we wanted to make him our primary option on offense we absolutely could, but we don’t even need that. We can have him as a tertiary option and let Ja and Bane cook. Edey can eat some fouls for Jaren and camp the rim letting Jaren roam as his DPOY self should. He’s gonna set 300 pound screens for Ja. Imagine what Stevo did for us but also have the option to utilize Edey as an offensive force in the half-court game or when our offense goes stagnant. Who can stop a Ja feed to Edey under the basket? Maybe Wemby? Idk anyone else who’s gonna deny a guy his size who has the motor he does.

    One analyst put it perfectly

He said that smaller guys will be fouling ZE before he even gets the ball…as they attempt to move him off his spot.

Dude will be shooting a ton of Free Throws…and he shoots 70% from the charity stripe

And the best part of his game, is he knows who he is.

Last year it was frustrating watching Wemby because all the had to do on most of the possessions was cut to the rim and put his hand up. If any of his teammates were looking to get him the ball, he’d have had a fuck ton of lobs every game.

But Wemby would never put his hand up and his teammates were never looking to lob it to him on a consistent basis

ZE knows he’s a big motherfucker.

He rolls to the rim and puts a big paw up and if you get the ball high enough, he’ll go get it. He has essentially the same wingspan as wemby after all

I was not a fan of ZE headed into the draft.

But I went back and watched some of his games and he started to change my mind

he’s got a lot more stamina than I thought he did. And he plays aggressively.

Steven Adams was great but he didn’t have any aggression. Same with Jonas.

ZE has that “Imma fun you the fuck over if you don’t get out of my way” thing that I grew up loving in 80’s-90’s era basketball

And considering this was a terrible draft…I think rolling the dice on ZE instead of wasting all our draft capitol on a random veteran center who commands more money…was worth the roll of the dice
