Pelle Larsson Selected By Miami Heat With Pick #44 In Second Round Of 2024 NBA Draft – Reaction

[Music] the Miami Heat made another selection in the NBA draft this one coming in a form of a wing pal lson the wing from Arizona the heat we’ll talk about the trade in just a second move back from 43 to 44 and get cash consideration so it’s not a crazy trade back where the he get future assets or anything like that but Larson who has spent four years in college three of them at Arizona one of them at Utah so he’s a West Coast Pack 12 guy through and through is your newest member of the Miami Heat initial thoughts let me know how do you feel about the pick from Miami Type L for like type D for don’t like I know we’ll talk about who the heat traded to the Atlanta Hawks in a second and why Heat fans might not be the most ideal in like this but let me know what your thoughts on pal Larson down below some of you might be typing D for don’t likee because of this the Hawks and heat made a deal and nicoa durich is someone that I have talked about openly about wanting to add to the Miami Heat and a lot of Heat fans bought into that and wanted to add another NOA to Miami durich was someone that played with Nia yovic in Serbia on KK Mega basket so their connection was there he’s been dubbed the Serbian Paul George who’s very good at scoring in the mid-range and facilitating but Miami ultimately had their eyes set on a specific prospect that is pal Larson and they deemed that will’ll take the cash however much it is it’s really a nonstarter it’s the non- Mover if you will in any move and they say I we’ll take the extra cash and we’ll take our guy so let’s talk more about Larson and focus on the newest member of the Miami Heat I didn’t have him as a draftable player if I’m going to be honest so there’s that he was 66th on my big board my 27th overall Wing 65 in height 212 23 older Prospect so lson is someone who is likely we’ll see if he can fight to make the roster like I’m not willing to guarantee him making this team maybe he gets a two-way deal it’s very possible that that ends up being the case but Larson who has had a lot of experience in college we know the heat like that and always want to add him more measurables on lson 67 and a half wingspan so a plus two wingspan which is always welcomed a Max vertical of 38 in so he’s a decent athlete and I’m not going to try to come up here and say this is your Caleb Martin replacement because that would just be irresponsible of me I do think he is gone in terms of Caleb Martin but lson is not someone who is going to be able to play right away and start in my opinion and I’m seeing this as it’s coming in and it’s someone that I wanted Miami to take Jamal shed he got picked the pick after Miami so there’s no chance of udfa there which kind of stinks but back to Larson mentioned three years at Arizona one year at Utah he did M um start all 36 games this past season for the wild cats he started as a bench player in 2122 played in 37 games only started two played 20 minutes then started half the games in 22 23 Welling 27 minutes and then had his largest role this past season where he played and started in all 36 games while playing 30 minutes a night he averaged 12.8 points a game four rebounds and four assists so he does it all a little bit and this is something Miami will like and I think you will like his fans he’s a good shooter he shot 3.3 points uh attempts a game said that ass backwards but shot 42.6% from three so the guy’s a sniper and he shot 52% from the field so he’s an efficient basketball player that doesn’t need the ball in his hands and will be able to play off ball which is what they need the question is his defensive prowess will he be able to make an impact for this team defensively that is the biggest question that we’re going to have to answer and we’ll continue the conversation here in just a second but this is why you subscribe to the channel we broke down kware yesterday we’re breaking down Larson now and we’re going to come back with more draft grades later today and then udfas tomorrow with more coverage over the weekend on free agency so hit that sub button and help us get to 12K the goal is to get there before free on Sunday we’re about 300 away so help us out all right let’s continue talking about lson now and we knew they were going to go Wing after The Pick of kle wear because I know some Heat fans actually wanted to go double dipping at Center that was never realistic they got their Center their Kevin Love’s going to return Thomas Bryant still has a player option we don’t know what he’s going to do with but either way Larson or a guard was likely the most common outcome and they grabbed the Wang who’s a shooter a Defender and we’ll see if he can really be an average defender in the NBA that’s the biggest question check in with Kevin oconor and what he had to say on pel Larson knockdown shooter off the catch especially when he’s left open so he could Feast playing alongside Star level Talent he’s one of the best in the draft at using pump fakes to attack Closeouts and then scoring an aggressive downhill attacks and pull up jumpers he he’s a capable passer in those situations too so that’s kind of where it feels like the most obvious right the heat fellon over the shooting and his high IQ and that’s something the heat value quite a bit so I don’t think this is going to be the case but it’s something we could speculate on like if the heat value him as a shooter could he replace Duncan Robinson and could you move Duncan in a separate deal to free up cap space which would free up about 18 mil against the cap this season which could maybe allow you to bring back k Martin I don’t think Larsson has the upside to be a movement shooter like Duncan Robinson is but maybe the heat valuee in that specific way Larson is someone that five Reon Sports Network and other heat insiders and Report out there pegged as a heat guy I thought they were going to go guard whether it be a treston Newton whether it be a Jamal shed they ultimately went with a wing which made sense I am a little stunned they didn’t go with Harrison Ingram and I’m a little bit stunned they didn’t go with Kevin mcculler Jr either because those two guys felt like really good fits for Miami that can contribute right away but to give the heat credit Larsson is a better shooter than the two of them the other mcculler and Ingram are better athletes and Defenders but if they prioritize the shooting lson is the better pick so here are the two picks that Miami made so far in the draft we’ll see if Miami buys back in to the second round or trades back in to the second round as we’re just about under 10 12 picks away from this thing concluding but kle wear the big man center from Indiana and pel Larson the Ford out of Arizona who could play the two can play the three that’s probably about it there’s no chance of him playing small ball four this is a two or three in the NBA so I’m intrigued by these two guys and we’ll get our first look at them in the summer league in about a week or two which I’m going to be live for those games so make sure you join us for that as well but two guys that have positional versatility I think that’s the biggest theme here for the two picks of the the Miami Heat you saw the two picks maybe the heat add another draft pick or maybe they just go to udfas but at least as things currently stand what is your confidence level or if you just want to grade the Heat’s draft class on a scale of 1 to 10 let me know what you think down below give me a number and don’t give me a rookie score give me decimals I want decimals uh I’ll give you an answer early thoughts that don’t hold me to this cuz I might change it was 72 I guess 72 is fair like is like I think K we is a good pick I would have graded that at a 79 81 and then larsson’s at about a 69 nice so syn 71 is a good grade for the Miami Heats draft class at least as of right now make sure you are subscribed to the channel like I said we’re going to continue to break down everything surrounding the Miami Heat and we’ll be back later with a video with my final thoughts that I bring all together with the final draft moves that the Heat make so hit that sub button and I’ll see you then go eat [Music]

  2. I think the reason why they picked Larson is because it rhymes with the name of kel El
And they both have double E and double L in their first name to create some bars 😅

  3. "D" Miami does need better/ consistent shooters but they still have Herro/ D. Robinson for the time being.

I personally think that they should have gone with a wing or backup PG. Harrison Ingram Jamal Shead and Tristan Newton were still available. However, I just read that they have signed Keshad Johnson to a 2 way deal; so I feel better about the 2nd round pick.

  4. Heat Fked up not taking the best scorer on the draft Knecht from tennessee. they could’ve grabbed a big in the second round or via trade.

  5. I saw a clip of him last year clamping up JJJ kinda sold me on him think he can be solid but I feel like he might get some minutes if Caleb and Highsmith leave

  6. Had to check some highlights from both Pelle and Nikola..so I can say that I like Pelle more because he fits with what Miami already has and needs. Miami doesn’t really need another ball handler unless the shot clock has been changed from 24 to 32 seconds. B for me

  7. Lol he played again jaime jaquez jr in college 😂 it's a small world that's what's up they'll build chemistry fasho fasho.

  8. He's not that fast. He's not that strong. But from the looks the IQ is off the charts, and he can shoot the ball from Deep

  9. the roster as it is isn't moving mountains. knix stacked. celts are defending champs. ware adds a new dimension to the heat defence. but playoff and 1st round exit? ok.
