I cannot remember the last time that we as a consensus have been so pessimistic about the number one pick but ret to the Hawks a lot of pessimism going around I don’t care what your team needs are I don’t care what year it is if your number one pick has shades of Harrison Barnes what now I know that a lot of hawks fans wanted Alex SAR but I know that his agent was being weird didn’t want him to really go to Atlanta so I don’t know so the weird thing here is instead of getting eight free lobs a game from Trey young Alex SAR that has to watch Jordan p and Kyle kozma in the let him cook offense unless kozma gets like moved which is which is likely but at the same time I would have loved to see this man the Hawks jersey instead of NBA draft comp Trevor arza like what are we doing here I don’t care how good your team is NBA wise I don’t think your number one pick should ever have a just a role player ceiling

I’m a hawks fan and tbh I think I’d rather have Zaccharie (assuming this is the year we finally get rid of Capela) so Okongwu can start and we still get an equally good player

I watched him in australia last season, hes got potential but dude for sure needs decent guards to play with and Poole is the absolute worst fit compared to trae young 😂 maybe if he starts with judt Tyus Jones it could be fun but i dont like it at all for Alex. His agent is a weirdo for making the Wizards the place he ends up
I still say they should have drafted Bronny and held him hostage until they got some picks, cash, and good players in return.

The last #1 pick seen with this much pessimism has to be Anthony Bennett. Seemed like 30 seconds after Cleveland drafted him it was clear to everyone that they fucked up. He would go on to blow away all of the low expectations of him by being a salary throw in for Kevin Love then getting bought out and waived a year after that.
So if Risacher can manage to get bought out with only 1 year left on his rookie contract and not 2 like Bennett then he will at least manage to not be the worst #1 pick in modern nba history.

The Wizards should be taking on every bad contract known to man in exchange for draft capital. The Hawks are where the Wizards were when they had Bradley Beal and a somewhat healthy John Wall.
They think they're a playoff team but in reality they are on the cusp of tanking due to bad ownership.
Atlanta doesn't know what it's doing. I don't care what his agent wanted, I would've traded him anyway. Could always trade him for more picks & assets.

We as fans gotta recognize that a) Harrison Barnes is pretty good and b) whoever does these “comps” can get this stuff wrong. Going to a good situation can have a positive affect on the young kids
There were lots of reports that San Antonio wanted to trade up to 1 for Risacher. I imagine he can't be that bad if he was desired that much by others.

I mean it's a very weak draft class and, based on a bunch of prospect rankings I've seen, the Hawks took the best player. Sometimes Harrison Barnes is the best player available i guess.
