Knicks can still offer IHart the same contract he’s been eligible for

So I added the contracts for OG and Mikal, estimates on the rookies, which don’t count to the salary cap until 7/31, kept the team options in that haven’t been finalized until 6/29, and added IHart’s max we can offer, and it appears Knicks would be $2.355 million over the 2nd apron cap.

I imagine if we don’t keep Daquan Jeffries $2.463 million team option by Saturday, they could still offer IHart the same max offer we’ve been able to until 7/31 when the 2nd round rookie contracts hit the cap total, and still have 15 players on contract for next season.

  1. We know we can do it. Will he accept it is the big question

I don’t think there’s a cap hit for Milton, Minny should be responsible for his 5M.

I also don’t think Jeffries and Diakite will be on the final roster so their team options are either getting declined or we’re trading one of them in the Nets trade.

Which leads the final number of players to 13 including I-Hart. We would need one more minimum contract to get to the 14 player floor for a roster.

I think the math still works out but just wanted to point some things out.

After the Claxton deal, I don’t think he stays. Giving up $5-10M over 4 years is something I think he’d do. Giving up $20-30M is on another level

  4. you are missing the point. The fact that it was reported after the Bridges Trade that they were going after OG but not Isaiah was the deal breaker. Yes the Knicks Could offer him that money. But they won’t. They gave up on resigning Hartenstein when they saw what his Market was. That’s why it was reported it’s highly unlikely Hartenstein resigns. The Knicks aren’t even giving him the option of coming back anymore. Kind of like how the Clippers chose John Wall over Isaiah. The Knicks chose Bridges over Isaiah.

do we take the cap hit if dadiet plays another year in europe, or does that get deferred until he actually comes over?

Wait, so if we can by miracle pull this off for iHart does that mean we can also ditch Shake, Jeffries, and Diakite contracts for a Big Sneeze return, based on these numbers and hitting our 14 man roster?

  7. Can someone explain why 73 for 4 years is the max we can offer iHart? And if that’s the max we can offer regardless of the aprons, why can another team offer him more?

  8. datatadata

Yes we can but others can offer more. It’s up to Isaiah now

  9. We are in the first apron …. Aren’t we ? Due to the salaries not being even in the bridges trade

Knicks were always allowed to do it with the early Bird rights. The main issues were:

    1. Fixing the finances to get below the tax apron.

    2. Getting him to accept this contract when people can offer him significantly more.

It’s all up to IHart now.

Can’t we just sign him to 1+1 and offer him more money next year?

  12. Great work. First time I’ve seen an actual number surrounding iHart potential offer

What I’d like to know is…does whether or not Pacome is shipped overseas affect our cap when it comes to signing iHart?

  14. Nicholas-Kopis

Why wouldn’t they offer him the max they can ? Just cause it’s been reported? Ok so just imagine that was either a leak for disinformation purposes or it’s just plain wrong – the math works to make him the offer, which they obviously should, even if they think he will go elsewhere. If he declines, so be it but make the attempt.

Are we hard capped at the first apron though? That makes all the difference. If we take back more salary than we ship out then we’re hard capped at the first apron

  16. Sk8dawg00

After seeing Claxton sign for 4/100, there is no chance I-Hart leaves all that money on the table, sadly.

  17. KornellKid11

We are hard capped at the first apron as of right now if the Bridges trade stays as is.
