Milwaukee Bucks draft for future with AJ Johnson at No. 23
the Milwaukee Bucks had the 23rd overall pick and selected Aj Johnson at just 19 years old the guard has a very bright future ahead yeah he has a baby face too our Ashley was breaks down the Bucs pick and when fans can expect him to make an impact the Bucks took a big swing in the first round of this year’s NBA draft taking a chance on the future rather than a win now player with a 23rd overall pick the buck selected Aj Johnson a 65 combo guard that flat at the combine last month showing off both his passing ability and speed but with the Slender frame weighing in at only 167 lbs he’s a pick that will more than likely need time to develop in the g-league before becoming the impact player Milwaukee sees him as he’s a big guard with speed and athleticism that plays both sides of the ball what level he does at going to be on him and how hard he works and how we support him and and really help him grow but whether he can do that this season I don’t know but there’s clearly uh we have these needs and we need to address it um component of drafting him I feel like Milwaukee was one of my best workouts I had but um yeah even in the interviews I got the combine and stuff like that like the interview was really well it just seemed like they um had like my best interest and uh like they really liked me so yeah I kind of uh felt a little bit like Milwaukee would uh be the team that want me Johnson is a former four-star recruit he had committed to the University of Texas straight out of high school but ultimately decommitted to play the next Stars program in the NBL he did play sparingly though in Australia averaging just under three points per game in 26 appearances at the deer District Ashley wasburn team j4 sports and I’m sure he’ll put in the work this off season congratulations to him well the Bucks have one more pick in this year’s draft it is the 33rd overall pick and third pick in the second round which begins at 3 p.m. today
The Milwaukee Bucks took a big swing night one of the 2024 NBA Draft.
While the franchise remains committed to winning an NBA Championship in the upcoming 2024-25 season, the Bucks drafted for the future rather than a win-now player.
With the No. 23 overall pick, Milwaukee drafted 19-year-old combo guard AJ Johnson.
“Honestly, it’s still so surreal to me,” Johnson expressed. “Just trying to continue to just soak it in, but it’s truly a blessing.”
Johnson, a native of Fresno, Calif., is a former four-star recruit.
