That is a great deal for the Mavs. Grimes has a way higher defensive floor, even though he’s worse offensively.

Love this move for Dallas. I still think Grimes has real two-way wing upside and a safer floor than THJ. Even if he doesn’t work out you are keeping DJJ home regardless, which is what matters here.

That’s amazing for Dallas, it’s a lot more than just swapping Tim for grimes which is a win on its own
They save a bunch of salary which gives them a much easier path at re-signing DJJ or using the money elsewhere
