BREAKING: Raptors Sign Quickley to MASSIVE Contract – Gary Trent Jr. Now GONE? | Raptors News

we just got a massive update regarding Emanuel quickley returning to the Toronto Raptors as messiou Jerry just signed just extended Emanuel quickly on an absolutely massive contract and this is Major implications for guys like Gary Trent Jr and the rest of the roster and I’m going to start off by saying I am happy I am ecstatic that Emanuel quickley is brought back to this team is back on the roster and even though it’s a number that’s a lot bigger than I was was expecting I am very very happy that IQ we didn’t let the asset walk for nothing he’s going to be the point guard of the future and even though this number looks absolutely outrageous right now as the cap continues to rise this will be something that the Raptors will be able to manage and ease into their future planning future bookings but still at first value when this W bomb dropped I had a little immediate uh feeling of shock as essentially ESPN sources came out that Garda manual quickly intends to sign a 5-year $175 million contract to stay with the Toronto Raptors quickly arrived in a trade with the Knicks and establish himself as the Cornerstone player as a Cornerstone player for the Toronto Raptors so I’m going first start off by saying congratulations Emanuel quickley you deserve a bag you deserve a ginormous bag the way you came in facilitate did some stuff but I remember New York Knicks fans when this trade happened they were questioning whether or not to give Emanuel quickly $20 million per year much less $25 million per year much less $35 million per season now if we look at the going rate in terms of the value in terms of what IQ can provide I mean this isn’t out of the realm of kind of uh expectations possibilities I mean but still IQ averaged 17 points per game four rebounds five assists a solid facilitator last year those numbers did go up when he was on the Toronto Raptors as well so I don’t want to say anything bad he’s also a solid Defender again doesn’t get too many steals definitely not a lot of blocks but it’s only 25 years old and has only really had half a season being the lead guard on a team shot 40% from behind the three-point line but again we can look at the contracts we can look at the things that are being broke down and the comparables you know Manuel quickly might be a guy in terms of stats like a Darius Garland out there who’s making a ton of money like this as well so this is what the open market value is for point guards like this you know Fred Van got up in the $40 million per year annually obviously on a shorter term deal a shorter term contract I think Raptors fans are happier with an IQ on the roster rather than a Fred Van v but still this is massive massive money to be dishing out here to a guard that again isn’t hasn’t been an All-Star hasn’t been a superstar has only really had a half season as a starter in the NBA I want to say it’s a risk because I do trust Emanuel quickly as a guy that can definitely be good but looking at the torona Raptor cap situation there are some definite questions about this roster are kind of moving forward that messiou Jerry has to make some big decisions so RJ Barrett you know obviously 23 million he’s going into 2026 2027 se’s not a very reasonable deal given his production value and stuff but IQ is now going to be making $35 million per year we can see his uh these aren’t the updated sort of numbers but this is uh with Scotty Barnes and amanel quickley kind of extensions you can keep that update a big pay raise from his $4 million Emanuel quickly was making last year Scotty Barnes again we have one more season of him under a reasonable contract not to say it’s unreasonable but he’s in the $270 million range if he makes an lnba team or gets defensive player of the year so again RJ IQ Scotty Burns they’re going to be making close to $100 million annually on this team so we better believe we better trust this core moving forward that this is the group messai Jerry wants to run with he did not trust Pascal cakam in terms of giving one of these deals I mean Pascal cakam would have commanded about six seven million more than this IQ extensions going down obviously we had more need for a point guard Dennis shooter wasn’t going to be the point guard of the future but again these are all the things you have to take into consideration but Emanuel quickley is a bit younger he’s a bit you know has that room to grow room to develop 25 so not crazy young but I think Young in terms of development because hasn’t had many years of reps under his belt as the lead point guard for a group but this you know looking at this Toronto Raptor roster this pace structure and you know I have Scotty Barnes contract as well so he’s going to be making $51 million in 20 29 20 30 you know that’s a little way off in the future but we have a lot of money tied into different guys and frankly I said it at the beginning you know I addressed Gary Trent Jr’s kind of future with this team and you know unless it’s a one in-one deal I don’t project the Toronto Raptors looking to get into the luxury taxs on a team that uh right now doesn’t really have crazy chances of competing now I’d love to be proven wrong I’m a delusional Raptor fan so I am optimistic that maybe a guy like Gary if we do make a you know we do bring back Gary do bring back back all the boys maybe we’ll be able to compete but we just drafted two guards I think we will be in the rotation you know come next season especially jacobe Walter that plays a very similar role to a Gary Trent Jr so there’s that and uh I don’t know just the signs seem to be pointing Bobby Webster spoken out I have a ton of videos in the chamber right now but new news keeps dropping I can’t drop them because there’s more important stuff more breaking things but there’s going to be a ton of videos coming out today but basically I I just don’t see the Toronto Raptors giving $20 million to Gary Trent Jr when you have $20 million for RJ Barrett you know we’ll see what happens to Bruce Brown because if he’s not dealt that’s $20 million on the book I guess that’s decide tonight if we even keep his contract roughly $20 million for yaka purle and then big contracts coming in for Scotty Barnes and these types of guys and then $35 million for Emanuel quickly this is a lot of bread for a team that was overtly tanking last season pretty well the same roster right I know we’re retooling re rebuilding but to make this an even greater extent you know the trade that was made yesterday that personally I think was an absolute finesse of the Sacramento Kings but that was done to take on salary you don’t trade for Davon Mitchell Sasha you know their six7 million per year annual contracts if you don’t expect to have a bit of open cap space for this year we got those second round picks we got offer jayen McDaniels because we were willing to take on cap so are we then going to give more are we going to put ourselves in the luxury taxs are we going to put ourselves in a position to where when we’re actually competing we have all these rules stipulations mid-level exception restrictions the reason why the Sacramento Kings made that deal I just don’t think so I don’t think the Toronto Raptors are going to do that so maybe a sign in trade with Gary maybe a sign trade with Bruce brown but frankly given uh what’s what’s what just happened today I think Gary Tren Jr’s gone I I genuinely think with the Acquisitions of Davon Mitchell with the Acquisitions of Sasha given Emanuel quickly 10 more million doar than I thought he was going get annually I I just I just think Gary Trent Jr’s gone and that just sucks because we’re going to let an aset walk I like Gary Trent J’s game he’s a three-point sniper but didn’t really take that developmental leap a lot of raptors fans were hoping you know when he came in people were projecting him to Bradley Beal and we can take a look at Gary’s stats I mean 14 points per game for Gary 39% from three again can knock down three a high clip was shooting 50% from the three-point line during January but 14 points per game $20 million and then the added expenses the added cost of uh of what it means you know to bring in Gary Trad Jr I mean I I just don’t see a world where he’s back now after this Emanuel quickly extension and it sucks to say because I’m a fan of the guy I’m a fan of Gary Trent Jr but this this deal shocked me I’m still happy with it don’t get me wrong my my no I want to say confusion but uh my woess factor of this extension should not indicate I’m disappointed in manual quickly I’m happy he’s coming back I think he’s going to take a jump coming in season off SE all that type of stuff but holy smokes that’s a lot of money but let me know what you guys think let me know your reaction when you guys saw that you guys the best make this far subscribe to the channel if you guys haven’t already and again if 1. I hope we can somehow keep Trent man, at the very least to flip him in the future. If that means letting Brown walk then so be it cuz clearly his value isn't that high.

  2. Wait so with the news rules and stuff about the nba and contract are we like in the salary cap hold or we good?

  3. LOL. Monk got 20 a year and you got a similar player for 35?!

Masai is the best lol. Would he make something well besides getting lucky because the Spurs didnt want to tank and took DeRozan for Kawhi?

  4. Wow didnt think IQ could demand that much.

Thought he worth slightly more than Malik Monk, not nearly twice as much, and Monk is only a year older.

  5. They are still paying less for Quickley, RJ, and Scottie than they would have had to pay Fred, O.G. and Pascal. And they got some other assets on top of that. It'll be interesting to evaluate this in a few years.

  6. quickly may very well be worth this contract… one day. he is currently unproven to receive this salary, but that is how things go sometimes. you put your faith on educated guesses and hope for the best. what quickly does have is work ethic, strong character and a high ceiling. as for gary, he will EASILY get $25m+ elsewhere so there is no way he is staying. gonna miss gary and wish him all the best.

  7. This is going to look like a steal in a couple of years. I bet the last two years are a bargain. We got our core locked up long term which will help with the new CBA.

  8. To everyone saying this is an overpay: what if someone offered quik 40 a year and he walked?! There was no other option, now we have our core for the next 3-5 years

  9. I'm smiling man! How can't you luv this core-3?????
As a guy who has watched the NBA for 40+ years, the Raptors since '96 – I can tell you, IQ is a stats filling guy, who improves your team. He doesn't sit back, he takes over. We haven't had a PG like this since Lowry, and before that you have to go all the way back to Mighty Mouse DS before we can boast about a take over PG. The man is a 20+ per, with chucky stats everywhere else, type of player. A future all-star – great core 3 with SB, IQ, and our brother-in-arms RJ (who was running down at will like Giannis, and driving the net with unstoppable force during his brief playing time at the end of last season – he figured something out).

  10. They had him on the court and in the locker room and know what they got. They know what they are paying him and why.

  11. GTJ will help a contending team, but he is a bench player, a gunner off the bench – and when you are asking for 25+ a year, there are cheaper options, like rookie contracted players who can come off the bench and hit 3's with a lot less money. But he'll get paid somewhere, probably a lower middle pack team who has the cap money and hope to make the play-offs. .

  12. Even if we drafted new guards, they're brand new and not immediately NBA ready. Not keeping GTJ would be the same as getting rid of Scottie because we attained a rookie playing the same position. It doesn't make sense to not keep an awesome player and expect a rookie to outperform in GTJ's production.

  13. I’m a Knicks fan and I’m very happy for IQ we really didn’t want to see him get traded but it was a business decision and we have to live with it. I’m so glad for him to get the bag he deserves.

  14. Are you willing to be near that luxury tax to get OG? I am 😂

I think two more two-way forwards would be awesome. Especially if people are dead set on losing Jakob for some reason

  15. This is just what the NBA is now. Any starter after the rookie contract starts at 25 mil a year

  16. IQ at 35M and OG at 43M a year and people thought RJ's 26M/yr deal was an albatross….how "Quickley" things change.

  17. A liitle expensive, but 5 yr locked with scottie, at least we have a stable high potential young core

  18. In Masai we trust…I guess. Our core group of guys failed miserably while healthy and now we are throwing money at them. We were gaslit last summer with expectations that everyone had a great summer and were going to level up. Well the opposite happened, and I'm not drinking the Koolaid twice. This time I'm going into the season with rock bottom expectations so I'm not devastated with disappointment like this past season. So far, with all the new faces, I expect 35-40 wins with an outside chance that at making the play-in. We've seen a pile of players shit the bed after getting the bag. I'm interested in seeing if that will be the case again for our players who got paid. I'm elated that we finally got rid of Jalen McDaniels. If history is a teacher, watch him have the best season of his life now that we've traded him. 🤪

  19. Can we sign nic claxton? Is there any way we can turn poetl and/or brown for edey from Memphis? I really thought there was a move there on draft day 1.

  20. Those contracts are insane. As part of the audience I refuse to be part of those paying highway robbery tickets. Really to the normal person it`s an insult and sports are out of control with pay.
