Okoro on ESPN’s list of 7 most underrated free agents

Okoro, still just 23 years old, took a significant step forward this season within the Cavs' offense, logging career-highs in three-pointers made and three-point percentage. He also shot a career-high 40% from the corners.

These are important improvements, considering Okoro is already a plus defender. The Cavaliers gave up just 105.6 points per 100 possessions with Okoro on the court — the best rate on the team — and were a whopping 6.3 points worse per 100 possessions whenever he was off the floor. He's a restricted free agent, meaning Cleveland can opt to match whatever free-agent offer he gets from another team.

  1. It wasn’t always pretty, but I loved his aggression in transition last year. He finally feels legitimately close to being an impactful enough offensive player to log bigger minutes in the playoffs. The shot and handle just need to keep taking incremental steps forward.

Also, I’d love for him to be a more impactful rebounder. It seems like he has the physical tools and willingness to throw his body around to be a much better rebounder.

His shot completely disappeared in the playoffs.

I enjoyed the article until I saw Andre Drummond’s name

I hope we keep him. We know he’s an elite defender and a great glue guy. He showed glimpses of offensive development this paat season to. I really think he can develop nicely under an offensive minded coach.

Love him or hate him Okoro has improved every year of his career. Hes the kind of guy that by age 28 could be one of the better off ball 3 & D role players in the league. I have no doubt the Cavs will bring him back as we’re already extremely thin and untalented on the wing.

The stats don’t match NBA.com, who has our drtg at 110.7 with him on and 110.9 with him off (so basically the same). Wade was best on the team last year with a 103.5 drtg, and 114 with him off the floor. Wonder which is right.
