I know I’m saying this in hindsight, but I think to TA’s point… either fire Bud and keep Jrue, or keep Bud and trade Jrue. Too much might have happened all at once. Especially since the trade happened a few days before camp. I’m not sure there are too many HCs, let alone a rookie HC, that would have fared much better.
Coming in and trying to change schemes on both ends with a team that still has 5 core players from their championship team 3 years ago, while also trying to figure out how to fit someone like Dame in – who has never played on a team as the 2nd option in his career – AG was doomed.
Definitely not excusing his horrid performance, or the immediate red flag when Stotts walked out, but the end of this past season could not have come soon enough. Looking forward to the guys taking a summer off (from the team at least) and regrouping with a fresh start in this upcoming season.
