Rob Dillingham Draft Night Interviews – Minnesota Timberwolves

Rob Dillingham Draft Night Interviews – Minnesota Timberwolves

let’s go to the front row here in the middle first off the suit is crazy I see the chain too sparkling but um talk about you know you know hearing your name called and then all the work that you put in and also playing with ant everybody’s excited I mean social media is going crazy what about it but what is your thought process and have you worked out with ant a few times in in Atlanta too as well and how’s that relationship between y two right uh I say it’s just a blessing for real to even be here cuz you work your whole life and you never know if you going to make it so when you finally get there it’s just like a blessing and yeah and playing with Anthony Edwards and the whole Timberwolves they was the in the Western Conference Final so it’s really just a blessing because I get to learn from a lot of players and Veterans and players that’s real good so them helping me is just a plus plus for me and then uh I didn’t really get to work out with him but I used to see ant at OT a lot so yeah for sure third girl on the left hey bang couch NBA digital congratulations thank and um you know the Timberwolves put a lot behind this trade uh with first round picks and you know it’s going to cost them a lot in the tax what does it mean to you that a team was willing to make that commitment uh it’s a blessing for real cuz it just shows that they trust me and they they obviously are are trusting in me to develop so if they trust in me that’s all I need it and I feel like that’s all I needed from any team so them actually showing me is just even more of a blessing and I get the to play with way better players and I get to learn from them so I I say it’s just a blessing to even be here in this situation and I I think the timber W is for sure any other questions for Rob let’s go the first row here on the right uh congratulations and I just want to ask other than playing with great players and grown men and the athleticism what about the NBA play style in particular excites you challenges anything like that uh I would say just like the open space on the floor and so much open floor and I feel like I’m quick so I can’t get pass dudes so it’s really the fact of me getting pass dudes and making decision and you’re playing with a bunch of NBA players so players can’t really help off super a lot cuz these are NBA players they knock down shots so I feel like for me getting past my Defender and making plays with my teammates will be way easier and then if they don’t help then it’s just a bucket or so first show here the middle I mean you kind of talked about it you know a lot of times in your career or ever since high school teams have been focusing on you defensively how do you think it’s going to change you know for you and having space and with a dangerous handle like you have you know do you think it’s going to take some adjusting to being able to have so much freedom and you know not teams just always focusing on you a lot of the times too as well uh I I feel like it would be easier and once I know the assignment and what my coach wants me to do I feel like it’s not really me aob it’s just me doing what he said so uh I Feel Like Anything coach tells me to do I can adjust to and I can make it happen so uh I feel like it’s it’s a good good feel for real any other questions for up third row here on the left hey you uh you know spoke earlier this week about the relationship with Reed Shepard coming out of Kentucky and you know uh you guys coming along what’s it like now that you’re actually on the other side and you know boom both top 10 picks both going uh to the league uh crazy it just shows you a lot of things work in ways you never think because we came in and we were roommates and we were really in the same position and we didn’t know if we were going to get past our first year we were just playing basketball so uh me seeing Reed my roommate he’s a great dude he always pushed me he always helped me so me seeing him and me go together it’s just it’s just crazy to even see and I’m thankful right thank you rob yes sir thank you what have you gathered about what your next team will look like uh it’s it’s the timber wolves they was obviously deep in the playoffs last year and I feel like that’s just shows you what they can be in the future so I feel like I can be as much as a help as they need me to be and whatever they need me to do I feel like I can come in and do it for sure and you and Anthony Edwards what can we expect from that backourt I don’t even know what to expect honestly you know what Anthony Edwards bring so you know what to expect from him but uh I’ll definitely be working too so I don’t know what to expect yet but you’ll see when the season come yeah yeah but you know it’s going to be good oh yeah it’s going to be solid for sure you know I was reading that the maou head coach said you are probably the best isolation player in college basketball what makes you so special one-on-one uh honestly don’t know I I don’t like going to one-on-one cuz I’m a little small so maybe but um I guess it’s just hesitation and change the pace for real cuz and also you have to guard the jump shot so you got to guard the shot and hesitation is kind of hard for sure when you were sitting at home and you were watching the playoffs uh this season looking at the Timberwolves what felt like was missing and how do you feel like you can maybe help close that Gap uh yeah just another score and another player that also playm makes and does everything honestly they just need one more piece and I feel like they were honestly good this year and they could have won it this year so adding me is just a plus to the team and whatever it does it does and lastly what strides are you hoping to make defensively uh super strides this year just by getting bigger and actually learning how to lock up and give effort on every play so y’all definitely see a big super stride for me in defense for sure congratulations again and welcome to Minnesota thank you thank you

  1. He's 165lbs, that's tiny for 6'1". Hopefully the speed and scoring makes up for the likely lack of defense.

  2. This was the perfect draft for the Wolves. Rob is going to add that spark off the bench that they needed. If he’s dedicated to really locking in and getting in that chair and defending, then Ant and Jaden are going to be great for him to learn from. Connelly will also be the perfect role model to show him how to be a pro and stay productive at this level. Getting Shannon Jr at 27 is also going to be a great help to the bench scoring.

  3. I dont think anyone is as hyped as me this kid is going to be nasty off the bench in the beginning then a stater man we have ALOT of great talent we might need to go to some hockey lines cause we deep

  4. As a lifelong uk fan rob immediately will stand out. Best ballhandler and passer in the league. Look up some highlights this dude dont just break ankles he takes them with him as a souvenir.

  5. They throw it really good questions. Love it! Really excited for this kid to be part of the mix.

  6. Electric back court. Imagine Kyrie faster, but not as good a shot. A good shot, just not as good and Ant man. Move get out the way!!!

  7. Tim Connelly pulled a Qwesi. Imagine Rob growing into his defense under Finch and learning from Mike and Ant… wow. I thought this draft was going to be a sleeper for us Wolves fans, but I'm stoked.

  8. this trade is clear tampering by the nba. No one would trade a #8 talent pick for a couple of 29, 30, or 31st pick selections. minnesota will have one of the best records the next two years, so they will draft late. why dont all teams that have late round picks trade teams two late round picks for a top ten pick? cause no1 would ever do such a foolish thing. nba trying to team build for the league image, caught redhanded, this is clearly rigging.

  9. Rob "….I get to play with way better players" Dillingham…😂😂😂. He definitely fits better with the Wolves than the Spurs.

  10. Who is the beutiful reporter?
