THE ATLANTA HAWKS TRADED DEJOUNTE MURRAY TO THE NEW ORLEANS PELICANS!

hey guys what is up it is the fast break report here bringing you guys another Vlog well I was looking for something to do tonight and well we got a bit of a w bomb from uh Adrien War Janowski the Atlanta Hawks have decided that they are going to trade star guard dejonte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans for Larry Nance Jr Dyson Daniels a 2025 first round pick via the Los Angeles Lakers so like uh I guess it’s going to be anywhere from 15 to 20 or the early 20s in that that ballpark um I I don’t think it’s going to be a lottery pick I don’t know but and a 2027 first round pick least favorable from of the Bucks and Pelicans so they traded de jonay Murray for two first round picks Larry Ed Jr and Dyson Daniels listen man this felt like kind of a uh a low ball offer for dejonte Murray um I’m going to say this this is my honest opinion on the whole thing De John I don’t know why the Hawks kept Trey young and did not decide to keep dejonte Murray dejonte Murray has a really really good contract I think he’s a better player than Trey young like yeah I get that Trey young gives you the star Factor the shooting from half court and all this other but as far as like an allaround player goes I think dejonte Murray is a better player and he’s on a cheaper contract now granted Trey young makes so much money that guys that make upwards of $40 million are very hard to trade so I understand why they traded J jont Murray um this is a team that looks like it’s maybe back in the re the rebuilding phase uh but the thing is like what can you actually do you know what I’m saying like they they had the number one pick in the draft yesterday uh or two days ago they picked uh Zachary rier if I said that correctly I don’t know how to say his name yet um I’ll figure it out you guys know how bad I am with names but the the Atlanta Hawks just can’t get it right man I don’t know if it’s just like the owner is just overstepping his his bounds and like loves Trey young and doesn’t want to get rid of Trey young because it’s like the best thing to happen to their franchise since what Dominique Wilkins um but I look at this man and the Pelicans feel like they fleeced I’m just going to say that like this feels like a fleece for the Pelicans uh now they have dejonte Murray CJ uh Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson on the roster Jonas valent Tunis I believe is an unrestricted free agent they still have herb Jones right they still have Trey Murphy III they really needed like a Bonafide uh like point guard on their team and they finally got it now granted Dyson Daniels is a very talented Defender we still have yet to see what he can really be he’s he’s a mystery piece Larry Nance Jr is salary filler the two first round picks are nice but let’s be honest they’re not not great they’re the least favorable of the Bucks and Pelicans so it’s going to be the Bucks okay it just um it like they essentially got two like mid to late first round picks Larry n Jr and Dyson Daniels for a guy that I think on a on any other team could is like like triple double dejonte Murray is a possibility again you know what I’m saying like triple double J jonty Murray might be back um but this just I I just it it irritates me that Atlanta can’t ever get anything right man it just it irritates me because they gave up a lot to get the jontay Murray I think they gave up what four three or four first round picks when they traded him to uh traded the Spurs for him yes they got back two first round picks but now the question is like what what if you’re Trey young what the do you do you know what I’m saying like if you’re Trey young and you’re look at this you’re like okay well what are you replacing him with right so like I’m just thinking to myself like Brandon Ingram has to be available I would assume like they’re trying to get rid of him but the thing is like it just now they have too many Ms to feed in a way you know what I’m saying like de jont Murray can go out there and get like 20 points per game if he wants to but now you have CJ McCullum right you’ve got Brandon Ingram you’ve got Zion we don’t know what’s going on at the center position like this is a team that is officially in the position of too many mouths to feed now um unless de jont Murray is uh feeling like taking a step back and is going to be more of a facilitator uh but when he was in San Antonio he was a guy that was capable of going out and getting you a triple double almost every night you know like he’s a guy that could put up like 198 and8 uh and do it on relatively efficient shooting so I don’t know man I don’t know what this is but uh you know also it sucks to say this but point guards in the NBA aren’t super valuable but I do think they could have gotten more than than this you know what I’m saying like you mean to tell me Chicago wouldn’t have given you nothing like you know they got uh uh Zack LaVine over there you know what I’m saying like you couldn’t at least get Trey young another star in return for dejon Murray you know it’s just for me I don’t know what the Atlanta Hawks are doing necessarily because I feel like they’re going to do like a half-ass rebuild yeah you have Jaylen Johnson right you’ve got you just traded AJ Griffin um now you’ve traded dejonte Murray but once again you’re in a position where it’s Trey young vers the world you know and like like at has a few good players Ona kongu is pretty good um what’s what’s going to be the deal with DeAndre Hunter like is he getting traded to I would I would assume at this point in time everybody on the Atlanta Hawks roster who’s not named Trey young is up for grabs uh DeAndre Hunter um yeah uh bogam bogdanovich if I said that correctly um like they they have a bunch of really bad contracts and that’s that’s the other thing I don’t understand about this it’s like you have a bunch of bad contracts DeAndre Hunter’s contract I don’t think is very good um you know bogdanovich’s contract I don’t think is very good dejonte Murray was the one good value contract you had and you traded him for like essentially two late first round picks uh an unproven guard and Larry n Jr who’s just a good bench player you know what I’m saying or a good role player good vet to have um so it’s like they didn’t even really get anything super promising out of this you know I I was thinking maybe Minnesota would want to get in on this you maybe could have maybe tried to finesse Nas Reed away from the the Minnesota Timberwolves or Jaden MCD or somebody just for a better point guard for their team now granted point guards are pretty plentiful in the NBA SO trading a point guard at the current point in time is not exactly uh the business you want to be in but I just think to myself man like Atlanta has been a disaster for the longest time uh Atlanta just for whatever reason can’t get it right and I think after the draft you know after picking Zachary rier or rier if I said that correctly um is you know the guy they’re going forward with and it to me it seems like a rebuild but the question is does Trey young want to be a part of a rebuild like what’s in the cards you know what I’m saying like like what is in the cards for this team like are the Lakers going to do a sign and trade with D’Angelo Russell to the the Atlanta Hawks for Trey young like is that is that something that’s in the cards or um I who’s another team that could use a point guard uh you know the Spurs could have could use triy young like what’s what’s in the cards for that is that something that we’re considering it just there’s there’s so many unanswered questions about the Atlanta Hawks and this is a team that is not performing very well you know I remember I made an Atlanta Hawks video not too long ago and people were telling me I was crazy like oh watch watch the come up watch the come up watch the come up bro you’re like I’m like bro your team is bad you know what I’m saying like I had people on my ass about that video I think I was talking about trading dejonte Murray and I was like bro like they they’re a team with no Direction they’re a team with a bunch of shitty contracts the front office is a mess I think and at this point the amount of incompetence I’ve seen I think ownership is a mess I mean like I’m GNA be honest I think the Atlanta Hawk should just clear house get as many draft picks as you can and start drafting as left and right do take the Sam presty method okay Sam presty is the guy that put the league on notice that draft picks are super valuable and if you look at the Brooklyn Nets the Brooklyn Shawn Marx saved his job with the the the the Mel Bridges trade so maybe you do something you know Brooklyn needs a point guard you know what I’m saying maybe trade them Trey young see what you can get for get for that you know what I’m saying it’s just there’s a lot going on right now in the NBA it looks like the Nets are in rebuild the the Atlanta Hawks I think are going in that direction because let’s be honest the East is getting pretty pretty brolic at the moment we don’t know what Paul George is going to do yet uh it just I I feel bad for Hawks fans like you you guys are are are legitimately like the definition of basketball Purgatory at the moment you know it’s like you had that run of the finals and then after that it just like everything was a flash in the pan like it just nothing else ever happened and it sucks because I I understand Atlanta’s not like a super big Market you know I understand maybe not a lot of players want to play in Atlanta um but the thing is like they’re one of the teams that has to overpay to keep guys around and unfortunately they just overpaid way too many players and now you know like even with John Collins they up the John Collins contract like this is a team that pays just way too much money to players that are not worth it and you know like like I’ve said they’re they’re they’re a luxury tax team and they’re they’re paying an ton of money and luxury tax and they’re not even a playoff team they went like I think it was 36 and 46 this past season like don’t like don’t quote me on it but let me check here Atlanta yeah they went 36 and 46 so you know I was thinking like DeAndre Hunter maybe or uh the jontay Murray would be a guy to keep around and try to build around him instead of Trey young but the jontay Murray’s 27 how old is Trey young let’s let’s uh let’s take a look Trey Young’s got to still be a pretty young right yeah Trey Young 25 so I understand that a little bit more agewise but I just think like with how young Trey young is I think dejonte Murr is a better player I will die on that Hill I really don’t care um so yeah this the Hawks the guy’s name is Zachary rier yeah Zach Zachary rier so I don’t know man I don’t know what the Hawks are doing but all signs seem to point to a rebuild um now now that they’ve gotten rid of dejonte Murray the question is was there already a trade package centered around Trey young because and like maybe they just needed to get rid of dejonte Murr so they could maybe create more flexibility or something like that I don’t know all the specifics just yet um but to me this seems like a lose lose for the Atlanta ha like this is a bad trade like I’m just going to be honest I think this is a bad trade Dyson Daniels is unproven um you know Larry Nance is Larry Nance you know he’s he’s not he’s not a bad player but he’s not a great player either and you got two late essentially two mid to late first round picks for dejonte Murray when I think dejonte Murray is a guy you could have easily maybe gotten a first round pick like a high first round pick or a lottery pick plus a decent player for like he’s that good of a player and uh you know what I I will say this though on the other side of the thing right like congratulations to New Orleans Pelicans fans cuz you just got a really damn good player for next to nothing Dyson Daniels was a great player but he’s not a guy that is like really changing your franchise a whole hell of a lot um and and you know what honestly having two um guys in the back court that can facilitate you know CJ McCullum and dejonte Murray they can both play off each other um maybe this gets Brandon Ingram a little bit more open uh maybe it gets Zion Williamson some more looks I don’t know I don’t know what the deal is going to be um but I think the Pelicans just got a whole hell of a lot better for nothing now granted we have to see how this back court works because like I said it from you know an Optics perspective from the outside looking in it now looks like you have too many malice to feed but you never know you know what I’m saying like I maybe CJ McCullen becomes a catch and shoot guy I I don’t know I don’t think that’s going to be the case but um you got two ball dominant back court guards now and Brandon Ingram is an ISO guy Zion Williamson is a guy you can get in the pick and roll and and maybe you know I I think that’s probably what they’re going to go with if being honest the Z Williamson pick and roll with dejonte Murray and if CJ mccollum’s open or Brandon Ingram’s open they’re going to get open jump shots so that may be a good thing maybe this was a way of them to not trade Brandon Ingram and still you know maybe try to uh open up their offense a little more with some more penetration to the rim but it’s not looking good for Atlanta bro it’s not like even the even if the Pelicans don’t keep CJ McCollum or or Brandon Ingram De John Murray is a really really good guard like I’m just like he’s a guy that I like 90% of teams in the NBA would love to have uh he plays defense he he he can rebound he facilitates he scores I don’t think he commits a lot of turnovers I haven’t looked at his turnover discrepancy like ever I don’t think but from what I remember in San Antonio wasn’t a guy that turns the ball over a whole lot uh I kind of want to take a look at that what is he per game at 2.6 turnovers a game it’s it’s like you know he averages career-wise about two turnovers a game but he was doing a lot of the ball handling uh with Atlanta on and off with Trey young um he’s a guy that’s going to play almost 70 games a year for you I mean he you know lowest he’s ever the lowest amount of games he’s ever played was 38 and that was his rookie year in San Antonio and then he didn’t play cuz uh he was out for the 2018 2019 season he didn’t play for an injury torn right uh he had like a torn ligament or something I can’t even pronounce that but this is a guy that’s going to play about 65 plus games a year for you which is also good like he’s healthy he’s a guy that plays but you know he shot 36% from three last year 45% from the field 80% from the free throw line on 22 points per game uh he put up 226 and five for the Hawks this past season and and he played 78 games so I don’t know this is a guy that I think like on the right team could have All-Star potential uh but he was a steals champion in 2021-22 all defensive team 2017 2018 um yeah yeah man like he’s he’s a guy he’s a guy that can pretty much do it all I mean you know we’re we’re talking uh in 2021 2022 okay like two years ago two three years ago this is a guy who was putting up 219 and8 for the San Antonio Spurs so uh I think he can get back to that but it’s just crazy to me how like after two seasons the Atlanta Hawks were like yeah this this ain’t going to work so I don’t know man we’ll have to see uh league league is going to get shaken up a whole hell of a lot this weekend okay especially with uh player options like for team options the deadline I believe is tomorrow uh so we’ll have to wait and see what becomes of that but the the moratorium period I believe ends on June 30th so we got two days uh and uh free agency going to be kind of wild boys I’m just going to let you know so tell me what you guys think
