We could arguably get more for him in 2 years than we pay to get him. He only has 1 year left on his contract. When we trade him he will have 4 years left and will have a strong shot of being an NBA champion.
There seems to be some confusion about Lauri’s value

He is currently ranked the 28th best player in the NBA.

Maybe its cause of the draft or whatever, but im way less hyped about lauri as i was during the season. For whatever we have to give up for a guy on the final year of his deal, utah and keep him and max him lmao.
Danny ainge, has some leverage but the way utah has been talking as if they have all the time in the world to build around him.
Sam presti shouldnt get baited into giving up a lot for lauri. He would probably he good for us but i aint giving up jdub.
They want to talk about a bridges package. Bridges was being traded from brooklyn to ny. That itself probably adds a few picks. As much as i like the trade for the nets, a lot of the picks arent going to be great. Something tells me that the picks that we would have to give up have to be better value plus they would want jdub. Insane.
Bridges also had a longer deal.
Lets see if they get desperate to trade him nearer to the trade deadline. Something tells me that most of lauri’s trade value wouldnt be there once he signs his max
No one here is qualified to be a GM, but it’s become clear most people here don’t have the stomach to be one. People really wouldn’t trade Dort or Cason for him just cause they like them lmao
It’s not happening. We aren’t trading for a guy to pay him a max to come in and try to figure out if he can be a third or 4th option on offense when all he can do at an above average level is things with the ball in his hands. It’s not happening.
People have a hard time understanding that the ultimate goal is to win a championship. Majority of this sub thinks the goal is to just develop thunder drafted players and have fun lol.
Trade for him with the condition beinf that he extends for two years, immediately become co favorites with the Celtics, and then have plenty of time to decide on contract situations.
We can choose to max everyone, trade someone or whatever. It just happens in two years so I don’t know what the panic is about not having money. That’s two years where we realistically should be the best team in the league. Who cares what billionaires have to pay for that?
If he’s worth more in 2 years than he is now. Then we are keeping him and trading j dub. He just had his best season being the primary in Utah. His stocks an all time high. If he drops down to the 4th option his stock goes down as well and he’s not worth nearly what we’d give up. He’d have to be our second option to keep his trade value. And if that’s the case, j dub is our 3rd or likely 4th option and he’s replaceable either way with our surplus of guards.
