Who in their right mind would think the Blazers will make the playoffs?

We need an ACE up our sleeve to capture the FLAGG!

Although I agree that Blazers are no where near a playin or playoff team, usually teams do not progress linearly, when things click it would be super fast for a team to become good. Nobody talks about Edwards or KAT last year but one year later they are probably the favorites to win the West.
And also, even though West is good, there is no single team is as good as the Warriors had been, so I would be cautious optimistic about the Blazers being competitive down the road.

Dude all those fools have to go through Deni now. They’re the ones shaking..

Giving up on Sharpe and Scoot this early?

In any normal year having two fringe all-stars (Ayton, Simons) would be enough to sneak into the play-in. This year? We’ll see how things shake out.

It’s just so hard to project a team with so many young players as we have little to no history of what they provide and how consistently they provide it. Honestly if we’re better than we were this past season I think I’d be happy. Wasn’t too excited about Clingan at first but after doing more research on him I’m super hyped for what he can be and he seems excited to be a blazer. And I still believe in Scoot and think if Shaedon is healthy he can one day be a star player. Haven’t even gotten into the Deni trade yet. Overall we got a long way to go but I think we’re going somewhere good and that’s good for me rn

If blazers can land ace or Flagg next draft (and they live up to expectations of course) I want next season to begin the ascension. Future lineup of Scoot Shae Flagg/ace Deni Ayton /clingan?
Would be an awesome core
gerrard_1987
An underrated part of the Clingan signing is how he’ll defend those elite bigs like Jokic and Wemby into the future. Don’t know why I haven’t heard any mention of that in the 3-4 draft reaction podcasts I’ve listened to. Not to mention that Clingan has shown range out to three, separating himself from the limitations of someone like Gobert.

No serious Blazers fans are predicting playoffs or even play-in. They’re at least 2 years away from making real noise.

Why is Dejounte on this list
Also no one is scared of Harden, Kat, and the inevitably injured corpse of Zion in the playoffs

Good. The best outcome is for us to look great, be in the hunt for a playoff spot, realize that’s not going to happen and then shut down a bunch of our guys for “injuries” (read: they’re fine, we’d just be tanking) and then win the lotto or get a really nice pick.
I mean don’t get me wrong, that’ll make the second half of next season hell to watch as a fan, but that’s the best outcome of our team.
mighty_hubris
hardest Western Conference of all time? they all looked pretty mediocre in the playoffs
jackalope503
If we suck we suck but I just don’t want us to intentionally suck. Being competitive and in the mix is so much better for our young guys’ development than getting wrecked every night.

I don’t think we will be a play in team. But I also don’t think the Spurs will be any closer. Clippers and Suns look poised to continue regressing. Rockets are still waiting to see if they have a star in all those draft picks and so on.
Are the Blazers better than these teams? No, I don’t think so. But I don’t think it’s gonna be lonely at the bottom entirely because somebody’s gotta lose.
