CP ‘The Fanchise’ talking all things Knicks | SNY

so let’s check in with the franchise CP the franchise joins us now CP good to see you uh with teams able to speak with free agents from other teams Sunday at 6 PM like we said Isaiah hartenstein is probably the most pressing issue right now we know he’s going to get paid and how important he was last year but just how far should the Knicks go to try to bring him back I think the Knicks need to do everything they can to bring back Isaiah hartenstein he he was vital to this Knicks team number one from a durability standpoint when Mitchell Robinson went out Isaiah hartstein stepped in admirably at the starting center position Mitchell Robinson missing 50 games and Isaiah hartstein when he came in the Knicks did not skip a beat and they also took a step up offensively the Knicks were a much better team offensively with Isaiah hartenstein they outscored opponents by seven points per 100 possessions when hartenstein was in the game their effective field goal percentage also went up he’s a guy that you can run offense through in the pinch post as well as the elbow area his defense came around over the last two years for the Knicks and he he was a vital component here and I think the Knicks will do everything they can to keep him but he will have better offers out there so for hartenstein it’s going to come down to does he want more money for shorter years or will he take the long-term stability and stay with the Knicks I think we’ll find more out more on uh when free agency kicks off yeah I agree with you I think it would be a huge loss for the Knicks if they can’t bring him back but he’s definitely earned every ounce of a big payday from what he showed this past season uh as they keep adding players and salary CP Julius randle’s future is looking more and more cloudy he is extension eligible but almost doe also doe almost $29 million next year how do you think things will play out when it comes to Julius Randall I hope it ends well for Julius Randall and the New York Knicks this this will be a provent year for him but make no mistake this will be the best Knicks team that Julius tandle has ever played with so the sky is the limit for the poti IAL in him in this starting lineup with the addition of Macau Bridges and and playing with ogan and Obi more but for Julius Randle is going to come down to heading into the playoffs healthy for the Knicks and being able to contribute on both ends for them can he space the floor for these guys if the ball is not in his hands as much how will he impact winning from a defense and rebounding standpoint he’s going to need those things to be successful with the Knicks and I think he has a great chance to do so yeah and he is eligible to sign an extension for up to four years 81.5 million according to ESPN’s Bobby marks uh CP last one for you given the Knicks limited resources what’s a move you would like to see them make when free agency gets going well since the center situation is is in flux the Knicks we need to look there to find some insurance in the event that Isaiah hartstein goes elsewhere a guy like an Andre Drummond could he return home uh to the New York Knicks they’ve also been linked to Goa big Taz a defensive and rebounding Center threee agent from the Orlando Magic Jaylen Smith is another player to watch He’s recently played for the Indiana Pacers if Tom Tibido opts to go with more veteran leadership at the backup point guard spot maybe a Monte Morris becomes available recently played for the Minnesota Timberwolves Kyle Lowry is another name that has been linked to the Knicks based on his villain over ties maybe even a Chris Dunn who played for Tom Tibido as well so those are some of the names I would look out for as you said the options are a little bit limited based on the amount of money that they will have to spend but this is already a deep Nicks team they just need to sh up the back end rotation

On SportsNite, Chelsea Sherrod is joined by CP “The Fanchise” of Knicks Fan TV to discuss free agent center Isaiah Hartenstein and just how far can the Knicks go to bring him back? Will Julius Randle get an extension and given the Knicks limited resources, what can they realistically do in free agency?

  1. Front loaded Bird rights max of 72m WITH player option for last 2 years. He'd be betting on himself. Winning chip with his good friends – in New York – as Starting Center – He'll be looking at OG $ in 2 years and make back way more than signing 4 x 25m elsewhere now

  2. I hart wasn’t that durable. I like him but wouldn’t break the bank. They are stuck with Mitch and could be stuck with both. Damage gods. I hart has a limit on his usage….obviously. Buyer beware

  3. I just dont think hes a better fit than Mitch. The way Embiid abused him in that series, then went and struggled against Mitch, doesnt make me comfortable with him being our starter. Mitch needs to start even if they are soon to bring in IHart behind him. Mitch is just so much better defensively and at grabbing offensive boards. IHart fits better with the second unit.

  4. If IHart decides to leave NY then i think his career will pretty much be done soon after. Hes only who he is now because we made him into that with our system and play style. Before us he wasnt worth much and after us he will remain that. I say let him walk. I would prefer Aleksej Pokusevski to come off the bench behind Mitch than most big men available in the league

  5. STEIN IS A PLAYER THAT COMES OFF THE BENCH, IF U COMPARE HIM TO THE DOMINATE CENTER U LOSE ALL THE TIME CONCLUSION 10 MILLION PER YEAR OR HAVE A NICE DAY.

  6. This will be Julius’ last season in a Knick uniform. With the new CBA kicking in, budget will be tight & we will need the flexibility. As for backup center options, GO GET JAMES WISEMAN!!! He still has a lot of upside for only 23 years of age. He was the #1 prospect for a reason. Hes a great insurance policy, if we lose Ihart

  7. Can't lose him, plain and simple.
honestly that's why they saved enough money for those draft picks, otherwise Hartenstein's career is pretty much gonna end

  8. Drummond would be better option at 6’11, 30 yrs old, good rebounder like IHart, can score and cheaper at 3m. If IHart leaves for more money then Robinson would start and Drummond would be the back up. Also, Knicks still have Sims who is not as good as Drummond but he should improve his game this summer. In addition, they drafted a 7 foot center in 2nd round Ariel Hukporti who is WIP but he was an MVP once and at 22 yrs old is insurance for IHart leaving. The 5 spot does not need a lot of offense as starting five has multiple scoring threats. Just need a big able body to counter bigs on other team. If Knicks do resign IHart, he definitely does make Knicks starting 5 much more lethal

  9. Jeremy Lin did the same thing, and his career went downhill . Ihart turned out to be a great player, and if he leaves, then I wish him the best

  10. How do y’all feel like wiseman? Another Mitchell robinson but raw and who will be more available then Mitch lowkey? Then again I prolly prefer jalen smith or someone who can be a threat outside of the paint to open up the court more

  11. How do y’all feel like wiseman? Another Mitchell robinson but raw and who will be more available then Mitch lowkey? Then again I prolly prefer jalen smith or someone who can be a threat outside of the paint to open up the court more

  12. Center get hurt I just watched games Sims started. He played great. Just use him. U have keep him. Bridges traded not done who going nets hope not Sims.
Btw they did not pick Precious A contract vim sure OG not happy there close. I m not happy

  13. hes gonna get better offers because y'all hype him up y'all the reason we can't afford him the fans and still doing it and disrespecting Mitch sad thing about it Mitch knows y'all dont want him

  14. IHart please come back, you are meant to wear blue and orange. NY loves you! Tell Dolan to get you some advertisement and commercials deals. Let’s get this done and get a championship with your brothers.
