an NBA Allstar for many years this is my 16th and final year with the Boston Celtics as a player and I’m announcing the retirement today it’s something that I’ve thought about for a long time I knew that this would be my last year when I reported at the beginning of the Season i’ talked with red about it at various times and during the course of the year and even at the beginning of the season season I kind of contemplated announcing it but at the beginning of season you had the World Series and you had football into full swing and it wasn’t the appropriate time as far as we were concerned and we feel that now it is the appropriate time and a lot of people throughout the league who have seen me play for a period of time are going to be able to see me play in their city for the last time so this is the reason that uh I’m doing it now I knew it was going to happen uh even last summer I we thank W nacv in Boston for their cooperation and assistance on bringing that report on the retirement at the end of the season of The Great John havich how well he’s remembered by the people in Columbus Ohio watching this game when he led Ohio State to an NCAA Championship and numerous NBA
