Cheap expiring, tradeable contract. Wasn’t particularly inspired by the signing but this is a solid contract for a guy who should help these guys grow.

  2. Southern_sky

Worth it for 1 year of mentorship for this young team

  3. titoxtian

Excellent contract… almost no negative impact on our team…and a lot of upside on signing him…

  4. cptnwillow

I am a little afraid of us winning too many games, but it’s gonna be the most enjoyable season in years

  5. callmearookie

good, short, tradable. im a bit worried because idk how much left we have for others.

  6. Bonesawisready5

Very worth it. I think that means 14-16M of open cap space still or is that wrong?

  7. McCabeRyan

Now if we can all agree to let out a big Ric Flair WOOOO on CP3 to Wemby lobs we’ll be in business!

  8. paxusromanus811

Wow! Love that for San Antonio. Super shocked Paul decided to go this route but maybe he just wants to be able to mentor Vic.

  9. rawsharks

Sounds fine, this team needs an experienced vet/mentor

Excellent. Coach on the court, perfect mentor for Castle and the other young guys.

I was in LA watching that game 7 a few years ago when he did that tear-drop against us and sent us packing in the playoffs. Kinda surreal to see this headline lol.

  12. Sol_Protege

I thought he’d never sign here. Exactly the kind of veteran mentorship the Spurs could use right now.

  13. Inner_Emu4716

I wonder if this is a situation where we let Paul show he’s still got something left in the tank and trade him at the deadline

  14. rattatatouille

Win-win situation. He gets to mentor Castle and the other young guys, do some lobs with Wemby, and if needed we can send him to a contender for picks.

  15. Perfect player for Spurs timeline. Chris Paul is going to be a huge veteran for the Spurs and Wemby is a sponge for knowledge.

Man this is an awesome move by the Spurs for the growth of this team. Just look at what Paul did for the Thunder a few years back. I hope this is the first of two or three splashes for us in free agency.

  17. Cleanandslobber

That’s very reasonable for our team. Extremely team friendly. I like this a lot, it will jump start our guards play a few years.

  18. Samuel_L_Chang21

Love this. Cheap, one year contract. He can mentor Castle and make sure Wemby gets his lobs. And wouldn’t be at all surprised if part of the negotiations was that if there’s a contender that wants him he’ll be traded at the deadline.

  19. DevilGunManga

Perfect contract. Perfect mentor for this young Spurs.

    Praise the Lord Brian Wright.

  20. Worth it for anyone who had a Brandon Paul jersey

  21. BeautifulDimension56

As I’ve said previously. Our team is trying to chase wins. Theres no way pop is going to shrink the court and do some bs experimentation.

  22. Davidpaulngo

Quite happy with this, doesn’t hurt our financials moving forward and we get the 1-year CP3 mentorship that really helped out OKC as well. If he gets traded at the deadline, we get some asset back.

  23. Clarkey7163

11mil for a single year, in retrospect makes me okay with us trading rob dillingham or the chance to get another PG this year

Best case scenario we rock with CP3 at the 1, try and develop Stephon but try and nab Nolan Traore in the next draft and we have a dynasty

  24. walrus926

He’s not there to mentor. He’s there to get mentored by Pop. Paul is a future NBA coach.

  25. how is he health wise? is he using this year to be more of a coach mentor so his body can take a year off from the daily nba grind? i would not be mad at that

  26. wilsonsmilk

This is great for our all time starting 5!

But seriously nothing to lose here. Great contract and great mentor for Vic and the young guys.

  27. LeadingNo3558

I thought he was owed 30 mil from his old contract..

  28. Castle gonna be mad with CP3 mentorship, amazing!
