That’s a freaking great deal! I’m all for it if all we had to give up was Josh Green and a trade exception. Going all in on Kyrie’s window.

  2. TacoFrijoles

Shooters, shoot. Imagine telling Mavs fans about this roster before the 2023 trade deadline. No one would believe it.

  3. BitchYouAintNoNerd

For the cap nerds out there, is there anything left we can do since we didn’t trade our FRP? Are we now capped now financially? Could we package the pick with Maxi to further improve the roster?

  4. devilmaskrascal

So we basically traded Josh Green and Tim Hardaway Jr. for Klay Thompson and Quentin Grimes? Insane.

  5. elfonmyshelf

Further tweets say he had bigger 4 year deals but chose Dallas. Also we may get 1-2 SRP from charlotte.

  6. Marvkid27

If i were klay I’d tell the mavs to dump powell too to get more money

  7. chewbacca-says-rargh

Luke and Kyrie will have much more gravity than Steph did the past 1 or 2 seasons so Klay should be getting a whole lot of wide open 3s.

  8. NoWayNotThisAgain

Sad to see Josh go. I always love our homegrown guys.

  9. iap_darth

Not sure why the Mavs are salary dumping Josh Green while still employing Dwight Powell

Klay’s shooting will be huge, but let’s remember the guy can’t move, doesn’t dribble, doesn’t drive, and can’t defend anymore. I don’t know how we will defend in the playoffs. Will Klay be ok with his minutes being cut in playoffs cause defense isn’t looking good?

  11. No_Veterinarian742

He is obviously not peak klay anymore but we desperately needed a floor spacing wing and we definitely got that. Can we get away with playing kyrie luka and klay at the same time in terms of defensive mobility? probably not but the prospect of having a second strong offensive option on the floor when either luka or kyrie need a breather is honestly a godsend. and for 16.6 mil a year that is almost a steal. def a win now move but we will have some flexibility in 2-3 years when kyrie and klay may be hanging up their boots.
Also OKC is scary this year…. and philly a legitimate threat for boston now.

  12. XXeadgbeXX

Well now we have Klay and Kyrie for shooting and Daniel Gafford for lobs. I don’t see how this makes us any worse? I still believe in Klay. He had a 37 point quarter. he’s a shooter through and through.

  13. icrywithmycat

i will become klay thompson’s strongest soldier from now on. all jokes aside, ik 2024 klay is not the klay from years ago obviously but you cannot tell me he is not an improvement from thj (bless his heart). will all these moves be enough to get us to a trophy? idk but i feel like nico is making all the right moves and we still have 2 1st round picks that we can work with

  14. CollectMan420

How many shots you make today Klay- Luka
Holds 4 fingers up – Klay

  15. $16 million for a great three point shooter is exactly what we needed. Klay is going to come off the bench and get us 15-18 per night on efficient shooting. Luka is about to average 15 assists per game

  16. Liamesque

The second best thing about Klay might be his free throws.

  17. mojo-jojo-was-framed

Oh helll yes!! I was weary about singing him for $25 mil a year but still down. But at this number, I’m all in

  18. seonblack

Anyone saying this isn’t a good pick-up is a hater. Klay is still a marksman and can play D, maybe not to the level he was able to, but he can create his own shots and doesn’t need to rely on Luka. Whether he starts or comes off the bench, Klay is going to be a problem for a lot of teams. I still think they need another big, but this is a process, and it’s still early.

  19. Many_Meal_1867

who’s going to be sf in the starting lineup though?

  20. Im_Sorry_MissJackson

So…. Now that we traded away Green and DJJ, who is going to defend guards on the other team? For example, if we face OKC or MIN or DEN in the playoffs, who is guarding Shai, Ant, and Murray?

  21. I hope he’s not as washed up as some of yall claim. if we can have a consistent 3rd scorer, this could be fun.

  22. WobblyMayo

Did we sacrifice too much defense with the recent trades?

  23. WobblyMayo

Did we sacrifice too much defense with the recent trades?

  24. ThickWhiteNutt

We basically swapped THJ, Josh Green, and DJJ for Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall, and Klay Thompson. Crazy.

Nico might get a statue next to Dirk after it’s all said and done.

  25. Geezmanswe

No poa defender in our starting 5 if Klay is starting. Yikes.

  26. slightlyhigh7

Klay is not washed at all tbh yes he’s had a season or two not up to his standards (which are insanely high) but playing with Luka AND Kyrie he’s going to get so many good looks… id expect him to be much better than the last couple seasons on the warriors

  27. shudawg22

We turned what we were paying for THJ into Klay Thompson. What a deal Nico!

  28. shudawg22

We turned what we were paying for THJ into Klay Thompson. What a deal Nico!

  29. epitome1986

Bro why would we send the warriors a second? Keep both second round picks.

  30. anon641414

At least the deal is cheap. His shooting better be on point because the defense will be a liability all year

  31. Special-Reception-63

I really think he would be best off the bench so we can have good d at sf

  32. People are all concerned about defense like Hardaway was some shutdown defender

  33. Melodic_Doubt_8489

You know Josh missed 25 games last year, 22 games the year before. It’s not like he was bullet-proof/Superman. Klay only missed 5 games last year.
