Reacting to Donovan Mitchell’s Extension! Cleveland Cavaliers, Cavs News (NBA Free Agency)

100% Donovan Mitchell has played his last game for the Cleveland Cavaliers but it seems like no one around the league actually thinks he wants to stay in Cleveland Donovan Mitchell’s GNA say damn it I want out you know why cuz I wanted to be in New York anyway okay that nobody thinks he’s staying there you know and I think that’s what we’ve heard I haven’t heard anybody be like no no you guys are wrong he’s staying hey it’s the worst kept secret people don’t think that Donovan Mitchell is going to be there long term anyway even if Donovan Mitchell and the Cavs win Championship next year that’d be great loved it it’s even more likely than he’s going to leave it’s true I think there’s no chance he signs I don’t think there’s any chance he signs an extension there ever and if it was up to me I would trade Donovan Mitchell today and I’ve been waiting baby news [Music] fled I don’t know what ESPN or the other National media members are going to talk about before Cavs games now but I’m glad we don’t have to talk about this for at least another two years because Donovan Mitchell has turned his back on the worst kept secret in the NBA inking a three-year $150 million extension to remain in Cleveland until 2027 now I know the first thing many people are thinking is why only 3 years well this helpful little guide from Bobby marks breaks it all down and the most important thing is this piece near the bottom right that explains how Mitchell will reach 10 years in the NBA and become eligible for this max deal worth around $65 million a year and I mean yeah the dude is obviously going to get paid and there will be no complaints from me because I’m not the one paying him and again worth noting is the extension becomes eligible in July of 2026 so we will be back here doing it all over again in two years and in all honesty I expect we will be dealing with the same rumors as soon as this current season starts maybe it’ll be a little more quiet this time around but the national media does not change and this narrative was extremely predictable from the jump never forget Mitchell was reportedly jumping up and down the golf course when he found out he was being traded to Cleveland in 2022 and yet almost immediately we heard the narrative being spun that Mitchell will never sign an extension and he will desperately look to leave Cleveland as soon as possible he may even demand a trade the cab should just punt on first down and all of that listen it’s done it’s over Cavs fans this is your Victory lap this is your moment to celebrate and enjoy a top 10 player committing to the franchise for the next few years this is huge and it is not something that should be taken for granted in just two seasons Mitchell has delivered two of the best individual performances in Cavalier history you can argue if you remove anyone named LeBron James that Mitchell has had the two best individual seasons in Fr franchise history again excluding LeBron James and he’s actually the franchise leader in points per game even slightly ahead of LeBron and so Mitchell has been nothing short of incredible kabs uniform the 71-point game delivering some huge playoff moments last year and hopefully with more to come moving into what this means for the rest of the summer uh there’s a few things now that Kenny ainson has been introduced as their new coach and Mitchell has extended we can expect announcements on Evan Mo’s contract extension as well as probably Jared Allen getting a new deal soon next up we’ll be finding out what will happen with Isaac auro and if he winds up being affordable for the Cavs to retain and through all of this we have to wait and see if the Cavs get active somewhere else in free agency they have not signed any available free agents so far and I know everyone is clamoring for them to add some Talent this summer uh will that come in free agency or will it be via a trade with Mitchell locked into an extension will the Cs now look to re structure the roster around him ESPN’s Brian Windor says that Darius Garland is unlikely to be traded uh this is because his representation is no longer pushing for it and Garland himself seems happy to stay in Cleveland now uh while the Cavaliers themselves aren’t exactly thrilled by the potential packages being offered in return after Garland had such a down year so it’s likely the Cavs run it back with this Duo unless something drastic happens and hey it’s the NBA so that’s always a possibility but it is worth mentioning that the Cavs front office has been signaling that they want to keep Darius Garland in Cleveland and Kenny ainson has been talking quite a lot about how he plans to mesh Garland and Mitchell together so I wouldn’t expect any big moves at least anytime soon and I also don’t want to use Wendy as the ultimate source here because he previously said that he believes there’s a 0% chance Garland and Mitchell are on the same team next year so take all of this with a grain of salt but Wendy also said on ESPN Cleveland today that Jared Allen is still potentially available in trade talks I’m speaking with my own speculation but I know the Pelicans have been interested in Allen for quite some time they want a rim protector they want a defensive anchor and if Brandon Ingram is available and there’s a swap that makes a lot of sense for both sides if you’ve been watching my channel then you know how I feel about Ingram I could get more on board with an allen swap rather than including Garland but still I don’t know about Ingram and the last thing I want to comment on bringing this back to Mitchell to wrap up this very quick video I just want to highlight the growth in leadership that we have seen from Mitchell during his time in Cleveland this is a guy who was routinely discredited in Utah I remember the arguments that Mitchell wasn’t even the best player on his team and it was Rudy goar who was responsible for their success and now he comes to Cleveland Embraces Being the adult in the room the oldest member of the core rattles off his first all NBA season pushes himself into to MVP conversations the next year before hurting his knee all the while rallying his teammates and showing nothing but support for them at every possible turn and now Mitchell has offered his extension long before it was even necessary putting those rumors to beted and letting his Squad know that he isn’t going anywhere I think we have seen the best season so far of Mitchell’s career come in Cleveland and his leaps as a leader playmaker scorer and even as a Defender have all been tangible and I can’t wait to see what comes next [Music]

Donovan Mitchell agrees to a 3/yr $150 million dollar extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers!
