[Weinbach] The Bucks and free agent guard Gary Trent Jr. could have mutual interest. The 25-year-old wing, a former teammate of Damian Lillard, would have the chance to compete for a title in a starting role with Milwaukee. Although, Trent Jr. would also have to take a substantial pay cut.

  1. Weinbach is literally on the same level as a random redditor. He used to just post his trade machine ideas and go “this is a potential framework of a deal” whenever someone with actual sources reported something.

  3. Heā€™s not gonna get anything like what he had before, his first contract was expensive and people forget that

Just cause he got 3/60 or whatever once doesnā€™t mean heā€™s entitled to a bigger one when itā€™s done, heā€™s gonna be in the mid-thirties Iā€™d bet

Yeah…I don’t see Trent taking a paycut or at least not to the extent suggested. Gary has his flaws but he’s a valuable floor spacer who would get some incredible looks with Dame and Giannis – and he’d be a major upgrade from Malik Beasley on defense though that’s not saying much given how bad Beasley is on defense..

I will say this: Picking AJ Johnson and Tyler Smith always gave me the impression that the Bucks were looking to shake up the roster with some trades because those guys are just…not NBA ready. Or at the very least, they’re not guys you add to a contender and expect to contribute right away.

It always struck me as them picking them up to trade them after the draft due to the Stepien Rule re: trading picks. The real question is to which team and with whom since neither is going to be making enough to bring in the type of player they want.

GTJ is a one trick pony. His trick isn’t even that great.

Iā€™d like to see GTJ go to a contender and prove himself,
I just donā€™t trust Doc Rivers to utilize him properly.

  7. tightcorners

He should do it, he would fit great on that team.

Dame, GTJ, Middleton, Giannis, Lopez. A starter on a contender. But he would have to take like a 6-7 million dollar pay cut.

Wish GTJ the best of luck wherever he signsĀ

Tho I don’t see him taking a substantial payout like this suggestsĀ

  10. If by pay cut he means take the minimum since thats all they can offer then sure lol.Ā  I’d be shocked if Trent did that.Ā

Bucks can only offer like $1.8m. No way Gary would take that when the raptors or other teams would easily offer him at least 4x that.
