This is honestly stupid. Bob Myers hasn’t had half the success pelinka has.

  2. nottherealstanlee

I mean 1) Magic was the problem lmao I love Magic, but he wasn’t well suited to this role and 2) The internal politics are an issue for sure, but the real issue moving forward is this new CBA.

Every CBA over the last 20-30 years has steadily chipped away at big markets and big teams lol This last one may have been a death blow. Look at what LAC and GS have done! Denver is letting a champion disintegrate.

  3. Life_Ad_9518

That is a tremendous point. Magic not being able to navigate the internal politics is staggering to think about. Why are the Rambos and that other dude such such big voices

  4. ihateeuge

This is a stupid point. Magic wasnt putting in the work. This was all reported on when he left

  5. Honestly don’t get the obsession with Bob Myers on this sub. Could it be the “Lakers fans” that all jumped ship to being “Warriors fans” during the post Kobe years? What is so good about Bob Myers? Got gifted KD because of a weird cap increase circumstance that will never happen again. Got gifted an opportunity to continue the dynasty post KD and blew it with wasted draft picks and not trading draft picks. Then maxes Jordan Poole which effectively ended their run. Then “retires” before the shit hits the fan. No thanks.

  6. To be fair, we all heard that Magic was the one who traded Zubac for Muscala. We’d all be vetoing his moves if they were similar to that trade…

Jerry West was able to deal with many aspects of the franchise and actually be successful. The logo was a genius. Lakers as an organization, owns him more than Jeanie has done or acknowledge. Rest in power my underappreciated Laker and Nba legend. Jeanie inherited her fathers business but not his mentality, not his business intelligence. Magic is a legend player, but in any other aspect of a basketball organization, he’s not even close. It’s a bittersweet time to be a Laker.

The moment you use Magic Johnson as your reasoning behind the Lakers FO woes your whole opinion should be dismissed.

I don’t get how this point is spot on with regards to “people in the organization undermining him”

This is clearly a dysfunctional org, but when was it revealed that it’s people actively working against him as the problem, and not Rob himself?

  10. goatnxtinline

The kicker is that one of those people is Linda fucking Rambis…

  11. Spaghettibeach

The Knicks really fucked up the trade market with the bridges trade, and the dealings I do hear about seem to be so heavily not in our favor that they don’t seem worth it.

like, I don’t wanna trade AR-15 and 2 1sts for 35yo Brook Lopez and neither should you/us. I feel for Rob.

  12. ZapataOilCo

Linda, Kurt, and Jeanie. The three headed snake must be fixed

  13. Electronic-Cloud8086

Unpopular opinion: Rob isn’t the problem.

  14. People treated Magics tenure with us like MAGA people treats Trump. He could do no wrong. I suppose we can give him partial credit for landing LeBron, but honestly, I believe he would have signed with us regardless of who was running the show. Besides that, everything he did from drafting LeBron to trading Zubac, was horrendous.

Majority of comments in here are based on hearsay. Stephen A and most media personalities have no fucking idea what they’re talking about.

  16. LudwigNasche

I wish one of the Buss kids could buy the Celtics

  17. TheZardooHasselfrau

Bob Myers is with the Commanders, and ain’t no way he is leaving that for this dumpster fire of a FO.

  18. wut_eva_bish

    Another Sam Quinn hit piece.

That little amorphous blob learned that using the word “Lakers” gets clicks and so he posts anything and everything.

Too many chefs spoil the soup….and no head chef with an iron fist means the others start chirping with their ideas for what goes in the soup.

  20. I’m still trying to figure out how Mr and Mrs Rambis have had so much influence for decades now.

  21. BodegaDaddy

people forget rob isn’t even in the inner circle of the monster trio of linda, kurt, and jeanie.

  22. SectorNo2661

True Laker fans know it’s Jeanie and her affinity to have the Rambis involved in every basketball decision.

  23. FBIStatMajor

Bob Myers would take it if given full autonomy. The problem is the Rambis family has too much influence and Jeanie is too loyal to the family business to make a tough call to cut them out.

  24. popculturerss

Idk magic just wasn’t a good FO guy. I never thought it fit him.

  25. Leolance2001

Lakers main issue is Jeannie. She’s incapable of making her own decisions without a committee of “trusted” advisors like the Rambises, Rob, Phil and Magic/Kobe in the past.
She obviously is prioritizing profits while Lebron still available. No wonder she’s appeasing him and Klutch at all costs. Bronny, JJ and a max contract at 40.
The problem, the rest of the league does not want to come to this freak show. It’s going to be a rough couple of years ahead. Buckle up. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  26. seansocal

Starts with Jeannie. She is more about image and entertainment than winning games on the court. Then she kept her friends as advisors instead of hiring proper people via proper ways. Rambis couple, Rob, Magic, Byron Scott, Luke Walton, etc are all friends and acquaintances.

  27. StacksHoodini

    Yep.

Pelinka isn’t the problem. Well, he is a problem but he isn’t *the problem*.

No executive worth it wants to come work for LA and be told by Jeanie that she’s going to run it by Kurt Rambis or Tim fucking Scott and see what they think about it.

  28. Unfair_Square_2847

Rob is a part of the problem. He was a nepotism hire. He had no experience being a GM, there were reports back in 2017-2019 that rival GMs did not like Pelinka because of his agent experience. We needed an experienced GM at the helm like Jerry West after the Mitch Kupchak firing. That was taken from us for a friend of the Buss family… Rob Pelinka.

  29. I’m not a Rob hater by any means but Bob Myers would be a huge upgrade
