  1. Best case scenario, we got our backup QB for the next 4 years

He got the maximum second round pick exception. Nice.

Just watched his highlights, I like this dude

It’s a little pricey for an unproven second round pick, but that’s the way the NBA is now. He’s 23 and slots in perfectly as a guy who can provide Brunson with 10-15 minutes of rest per game. He may not come out of the gates hot, but that’s okay because Deuce can bridge the early season PG duties as Kolek gets more comfortable in the offense.

I would just like to throw out there that the Bronny contract (and new CBA rules) likely changed the future for 2nd round player contracts. If he’s good, then having him for essentially 4 team controlled years is nice. If he doesn’t pan out, the contract can be moved easily and is above a minimum so it can be aggregated while the Knicks operate as a team at the second luxury tax apron. Another savvy move from Leon, Brock, and the Knicks FO.

We must feel good about him if we’re giving him 3 years guaranteed.

He was projected to be a first round pick in some mocks. If he’s indeed NBA ready, can’t wait to see him run with DDV and Hart in the second unit.

I’ve seen some comparisons to TJ McCollum for this guy and that seems like his ceiling which would be ideal. He’s got some great numbers from his college years in the competitive Big East.

he’s so similar deuce, but the opposite:

early-ish second rounder who could have definitely gone in the first round and nobody would have batted an eye.

nba ready offense, defense is a big question mark (flipped for deuce).

fans who have rookie year expectations for him will be very disappointed. he’s NOT playing a significant role this year. if he dominates the g league like deuce did, he might get the nod next year. if not, i hope he’s ready by his third year. if he is, i fully expect either him or deuce to be traded in deuce’s last year. likely deuce will leave us to sign something in the neighborhood of $20 mil/yr, which will be more modest than it sounds right now.

This front office will never lose a player again.

    Lesson learned.

UConn fan checking in, this is an excellent contract. Kolek has that dog and then some. Gonna be weird to root *for* him.

We have 2 young, high value players in the backcourt as reserves who have plenty of upside. Great cap mgt by Leon to not overpay, fiscally sound.

I’ve lost the plot on nba contracts, birds, aprons & cap etc. Sure, why not. I just want Mutumbo2.0 not in my house.

Heard good things about him. Wondering if anyone knows how good a defensive player he is?

If he has a player arch like Duece he Gina be a good bench player soon.
