B/R sent out a prosed trade that sent Cavaliers former All-Star Darius Garland to the Lakers!

[Music] what’s up ladies and gentlemen it’s your boy ear pearl of the ultimate Cleveland sports show here with another episode of the ultimate 216 show happy holidays to you and your family I hope everybody is enjoying themselves having some fun being safe and also you’re not doing anything stupid I want to get this out the way before we get on with the rest of this program uh woke up this morning and seeing the news that unfortunately a Cleveland police officer was murdered last night when he was just simply doing his job I’m G just give you what I do know so we can move on um the cop was 27 years old a four-year veteran of CPD he was I believe in the way parked area trying to serve a warrant on a young man uh that was felonius assault and the young man took off on a bike uh gunshots was exchanged and the officer sadly lost his life you know this is the second time in this city within the last two or three months that a police officer was Sally murdered and he was simply doing his job if you recall couple months ago in the city of uket which is a surrounding suburb of the city of Cleveland an officer was killed again responding to I think a domestic violence uh situation lost his life for absolutely no reason here it is another situation to where cop is just simply doing his job and because somebody don’t want to go to jail for a felonious assault a cop is dead now that suspect has been arrested and has since been charged with aggravated murder but I just want to say this I am a nephew of somebody who is a 25y year veteran of CPD and I can think of so many times throughout life as I’ve grown up that I would just pray and hope like you know my aunt m is safe at home every single night when I know she’s a good cop out there just trying to do her job and sometimes you can’t run across people who just simply don’t want to go to jail so they willing to risk it all and I think in overall in my city I can’t speak to what goes on anywhere else but in my city I think that we have a very unhealthy relationship when it comes to civilians and law enforcement and every single time things like this take place nothing is done to uh kind of like bind or or or mend those fences Instead This creates more divide every time a cop kills an unarmed civilian you know create it creates all kind of frustration and and it creates more divide but it’s the same thing that every time a civilian kills a cop who’s not causing them any harm but simply trying to do their job it’s a two-way street and I just wish we can do more to men those fences instead of situations like this that always occur that you know kind of tear us further apart so I just really wanted to send my thought uh felt prayers to the family of that Fallen officer to everybody with the Cleveland Police Department and to everybody else that was impacted by this tragedy um again just be safe have some fun enjoy your family but don’t do anything stupid with that being said man don’t forget to C all of the ultimate spin-off shows the ultimate 216 show the ultimate Guardian show the ultimate CF the ultimate brown show and of course our main our main show the ultimate Cleveland sports show remember man to smash the like button subscribe tell a friend and make sure you checking us out Monday through Friday 1100 a.m. to 100 p.m. so yesterday sitting chilling out my phone goes off and I got an alert from Bleacher Report and it was a proposed trade that moved one of the members of the Cleveland Cavaliers core four that guy being Darius Garland now let’s let’s start from the beginning here the Cleveland Cavaliers off season has already seen two significant dominoes fall into place they hired keny ainson as their 24th uh head coach of the franchise and then they were able to get Donovan Mitchell to sign a three-year $15.3 million contract extension with a player option which means at 10 years of service Donovan Mitchell could sign a five-year contract for about 380 million pretty nice deal I think it’s a situation to where you know Donovan Mitchell gets paid he’s in the situation to maximize on his career earnings uh at a later date he also keeps the Cleveland Cavaliers on their toes and then at the same time in the same breath if everything if for whatever reason this doesn’t go right the Cavaliers can move on in three or four years and you know whatever what’s done is done there’s been a lot of talk about the Cavaliers core for whether they should stay together should they break it up we all know that the Cleveland Cavaliers roster is currently construct constructed when everything is equal and everyone is healthy in my opinion it’s probably around the fourth to sixth best team in the Eastern conference and so I think we can all collectively agree that moves do need to be made when you look at Kenny ainon what he’s going to do on the offensive side of the ball Mikey mgas has done a phenomenal job explaining this to everyone it’s going to be a motion offense it’s going to be a lot of floor spacing shot creating the pace of play is going to be picked up uh three-point shooting is a main main stay so all those things considered you want to get guys on this team that one complement the core of this team which is Donovan Mitchell and Evan Evan Mobley but two pieces that just fit pieces that mes I think it’s cool to say that you have three all stars and Darius Garland Jared Allen and Donovan Mitchell and a future allar and Evan Mobley I think that’s very appealing and that’s also very hard to move on from but in the same breath if the pieces don’t fit the pieces don’t fit you just got four all allar caliber players that really don’t complement one another which makes it hard to get the ultimate job done which is bring another NBA championship back to the city so this is what Bleacher Report threw up this was their proposed deal the Cavaliers will get Cam Johnson from the Brooklyn XS they will get Austin Reeds and ruy haimura from the LA Lakers the LA Lakers will receive Darius Garland and Carris Levert uh the Nets get Russell Hood chafino I think Christian Woods the Lakers 2029 first round pick and return so my question to you all is if you were Kobe Alman would you make this proposed deal if you were kobby Alman and this trade was actually something that was really presented to you boom boom boom they hit your line yo what you want to do what would you say is it a yes or a no for you for me it’s a yes and I’m G tell you why it’s a yes and I’m G try to do my best to break this down I asked Mike McNuggets a couple weeks ago what was his thoughts on cam Johnson and he told me that he thought that cam Johnson was the ideal fit and would complement what the Cleveland Cavaliers currently have on their roster perfect perfectly cam is 67 66 6768 depending on how he measures with shoes on and off a guy that can shoots the shoot the three-pointer uh a wing player athletic he has dealt with some injuries throughout his career but he fits the M of what Kenny ainson is trying to do he’s a guy that can space the floor he’s a guy that can create a shot and he’s a guy that can knock down three-pointers with him it comes the risk of okay will this will this young man be healthy and I think that when you look at that I think it’s very appealing to be able to bring a guy like that in and then when you consider a guy like ruy hamura he 6 fo8 230 pounds and last year he shot 42% from three-point range he averaged 13.6 points a game I think that’s appealing too you know when I see this young man play I really really like his game you get a guy that can also knock down some outside shots and and Austin Reeves now to some on on face value some people might not some some people might look at this and say okay that is not nearly enough for a guy who is a former allar or a guy that you know can go out there and drop you 50 when he’s healthy and he’s fing himself which means his confidence is through the roof that guy being Darius Garland but again I go back to the commitment from Donovan Mitchell should really steamroll this training head as far as let me do everything I I can to make sure that I’m building this team correctly around Donovan Mitchell and Evan Moy and if we can see it with a blind eye regardless of what the numbers say because some people might tell you numbers don’t lie I tell you like numbers can be they can be blind sometimes if you get a guy in here or or some pieces in here that complement what you know the Coro team are then I think you doing yourself uh some favors and improving your roster and giving you a better opportunity to compete and match up with some of the top teams in the Eastern Conference I think that when we look at this Cleveland Cavaliers team we know who the stars are we know who the star player is we believe you know we have a potential St and Evan M and then you have some guys that are you know role players and guys that are supporting cast members it’s no different from when you putting together cast for a movie not everybody can be the star and I think in the NBA as fans myself included sometimes we have a higher expectation for players that quite honestly we shouldn’t we know who the star is we know who the future star can be but you also have to identify the role players and if you can identify guys that fit a certain role and those guys can be consistent contributors in said role then that’s the thing that really matters right that’s the thing that matters towards pushing you towards winning the NBA Championship not the fact that you have a quote unquote core four or you have four guys that’s on your roster that are NBA All-Star caliber players I think that it has to be looked at a little bit deeper than that you have to build this team out accordingly to be able to match up with the top teams in the e conference when everybody is healthy I think that’s a big deal and I think that if this hypothetical trade was presented to the Cleveland Cavaliers if I’m Kobe Alman I’m G take some serious serious consideration on pulling the plug and making that deal happen again you get back a guy that’s six foot eight he’s young he’s athletic he can shoot himself he can play on both sides of the Court uh you get a guy in C that guy being uh ruy hamara and then you get a guy in Austin Reeds who’s a 65 who’s a knockdown shooter and then you get a guy in cam Johnson who if he’s healthy I’ve been told by guys who I consider to know more about basketball way more about basketball than I do tell me that this dude is a perfect fit for the Cleveland Cavaliers um I’m interested to know what to to know what you all think again if you Kobe Alman the Cav president of basketball operations and you got this phone call to make this deal is this something that you would do something to consider we gonna take a break I came up I was sitting up this morning man and just got to thinking what if keep in mind man it it’s it’s what a couple weeks until training camp start and when it comes to the Cleveland Browns we really ain’t got much to talk about we’ll talk about that next on the ultimate 216 show but first a word from game time listen right now the Cleveland Guardians are one of the best teams and all of baseball they’re really the only professional ticket in town right now so why not use the game time app to get to a Cleveland Guardians game if it’s a last minute situation you just getting off work you can save up to 60% off buying last minutes for sports concerts comedy theater and more all you have to do is download the game time app create an account and use code locked on NFL for $20 off your first purchase Again download the game time Time app and get yourself to a Cleveland Guardians game right now all right by the time we get to the 24th of July 20 days from today every member of the Cleveland Browns will be together getting ready for training camp which gets every single football fan excited you know that football is right around the corner and you’re going to have it until the beginning of February and we all know that when football season is here it is a wonderful time we also know that this is the offseason this is the time to where content creators media members such as myself and others we come up with these crazy ass hypothetical wh if situations that 10 times out of 10 will never ever happen but it’s 20 days before we get to the start of training camp and I wanted to have a little fun with a wh if situation that I came up with early this morning we all know as of right now today Amari Cooper in the Cleveland Browns have not agreed on a new contract we know that Amari Cooper wants to get paid we all know that he held out during uh mandatory mini camp and as of right now he probably won’t be there for the start of training count this is Amari Cooper’s numbers from last season compared to his career last year he caught 72 passes for one 1,250 yards five touchdowns with an average of 17.4 y’all see the numbers for his career Omari has been nothing but an absolute baller since he stepped on an NFL playing field I’ve been thinking about a couple things surrounding this situation and it really goes back to something that I heard Andrew Barry say during one of his media rounds and he talks about to his approach to roster building uh for now and in the future and he talks about he has this mindset of he approaches every single situation when it deal when it deals with a player on his roster as worst case scenario and I think that the Amari Cooper situation is a perfect uh a perfect time to you know kind of look at this as worst case scenario the worst case scenario is that you’re not able to reach uh a new deal with Amari Cooper and then you have to move on and you got have a contingency plan that’s the worst case scenario that’s a scenario that none of us want that’s a scenario that would make all of us pissed off if we’re being totally honest and I think that’s a scenario that we’re not g to get to now what I’m about to say probably won’t happen this season probably won’t happen next year ideally to happen next year if it was but overall probably won’t happen at all sitting up this morning I’m thinking about you know Andrew Barry loves going to get whyde receivers who have not fully reached their potential and seeing what they he can get done with them in Cleveland with head coach Kevin stansky he’s going into his fifth year as the general manager of this football team we’ve seen on three occasions Andrew Barry trade for a wide receiver Amari Cooper we know that worked Elijah Moore and Jerry Judy the book is still out on he traded for Jerry Judy and gave him a brand new deal Elijah Morris entered the last year of his contract clearly going to go out there and have to prove it before the Browns hand him a new deal and I got to thinking about the Green Bay Packers how thises Green Bay Packers squad has this Trio of young talented wide receivers to surround their Young quarterback with and Jordan love and they also have a pass catch and tight end I believe Luke Musgrave who came on the scene last year and seems to going to be able to make some more noise this year then they also went out and they signed Josh Jacobs the uh former Las Vegas Raiders running back who has been damn good throughout his career uh he’s not the most explosive P catching back but he can get the job done and so they have a lot of guys that they can look to and get production from and then they also have a young wide receiver let me get his name uh right now his name is Bo Melton Bo Melton didn’t get much play in time last year but a game that stood out to me had happened on New Year’s Eve where he caught six of nine targets for 105 yards in the touchdown so they are deep in my opinion at that position and again this probably won’t happen but I’m banking on one this is just a wh if and two Adu Berry is used to fleecing other teams to getting whatever the hell he wants even if it doesn’t make sense for that team to do it he just finds a way of convincing people to give them pretty good football players but next to nothing and hopefully this could be another situation to where he could do that what if the Cleveland Browns called the Green Bay Packers try to get this guy Christian Watson now look at his numbers from last year I think Christian played a nine games last year 28 receptions 422 yards five touchdowns 15.1 uh over his two-year career he’s collected 119 uh receptions for a little bit over a thousand yards 12 total touchdowns averaging 15 yards per reception this is why this is the guy I chose Christian Watson has two years left on his contract at 25 years old he has this season and a 2025 season the only way that the Green Bay Packers would even consider trading Christian Watson is if he’s a guy that’s not in their future plans meaning they’ve seen so much production from the other wide receivers on their team uh such as Romeo do and what’s my man’s name my man uh Jadon Reed and then the the young guy I just mentioned Bo mton continues to develop and the tight end Luke Musgrave he continues to develop that they seen so much from these guys and they come to the contract situation or the salary cap situation and say you know what Christian Watson might be the odd man out Christian Watson is very talented Christian Watson is a former second round pick drafted number 34 overall who has had some injuries and you can argue the production hasn’t really matched the potential and or draft status when you drafted with pick 34 in the second round you can argue you really a late first round pick if you really want to be technical about it I think this is a guy that fits the mold of what Andrew Barry likes to do he’s a guy that again he’s big 64 208 pounds he’s pretty damn fast he is a guy that hasn’t reached his full potential has dealt with some injuries and he might be the odd man out depending on what the Green Bay Packers salary cap situation look like to me this is the type of guys that he tends to Target when he goes out and try to trade for uh wide receiver now what would compensation look like from the Cleveland Browns to the Green Bay Packers if he was to make this move just doing things out there maybe a lineman and a mid round pick who knows the reason why I say that I’ve seen Andrew Barry draft offensive lineman the last few drafts in my opinion preparing them to be uh rotational players and or starters by the time we get to 2025 you think of Zach zenser out of Michigan who was drafted this past year you think of a guy like Luke whiper who’s shown he can play multiple positions positions amongst the offensive line who was drafted a year ago you believe that Dean Jones is going to continue to take the steps forward that he’s going to take we don’t know what’s going to happen with the Jack cin situation due to his contract and then you have Jed Wheels who’s the biggest uh question mark If Jed wheels goes out there and perform without question he will get a new deal we know that also Wyatt teller and Joe bonio are guys that’s getting up there in age uh they make a lot of money from the guard position and that eventually Andrew bar is gonna have to make some tough choic in my opinion I think Wyatt teller will be moved before Joe bonio I reached out to a few people I know that are fans of the Green Bay Packers and cover the Green Bay Packers and I asked specifically uh how do you judge the Packers offensive line as of now and you know they said on paper there’s a lot of talent there at times slasher the line was shaky uh it’s good but it could get better in my mind if you was to trade a Wyatt teller uh say hypothetically this upcoming off season with one year left on this deal to the Green Bay Packers again Earl why would the Packers do that I don’t know but I do know they have a young stud quarterback that they like and if they’re in win now mode he’s a guy that you can plug plug in immediately and you give your franchise quarterback more protection I don’t think I would give up more than a third round pick for Christian Watson even though he’s a former second round pick I think the fact that he hasn’t been healthy uh you know it goes it devalues him just a little bit and so again I trust Andrew Barry to be a dude who’s able to fleece other general managers into getting whatever the hell he wants if he can do that in this situation with Christian Watson this is a situation that in my opinion it works well for the CL and Browns again I think one of the things I like about him you know regardless of the injuries or or things like that players one get hurt in the NFL but you know he played in nine games last year and he had as many touchdowns as Amari Cooper did and I know Amari Cooper had a million different quarterbacks throwing on the ball but I’m just saying if you’ve missed this much time throughout your career you got 12 touchdowns and the games that you have played in it says one thing man you might not have the yards and the receptions that jump out to you on the stat sheet but at least you know go how to go out there and put points on the board and you want to out score your opponent that’s the name in the game so y’all tell me what y’all think about that like again it’s a what if it’s a hypothetical that 10 times out of 10 won’t happen but if the Packers was foolish enough to move on from Christian Watson what type of trade package if you was Andrew Barry would you put together to acquire this young man you’ll probably have to give him a new deal but you will have gotten younger at the wide receiver position uh as you hope to moveing forward and you got some guys that can you know possibly make different difference makers this is a guy that can stretch the field Des Shan Watson had one of those in Houston his name was Will Fuller so it was just some thoughts that I came up with this morning again probably won’t happen but it was just some things that I was thinking about yo before we get up out of here we gonna take our last break and we gonna give a salute to two of our Cleveland Guardian players don’t forget man to subscribe to the ultimate Cleveland sports show ring the bell smash the like button stay in the know of our Flagship show and all of our spin-off shows as we continue to give you all dope content coming at you 247 damn here all right so as you all know right now the uh Major League Baseball Allstar starters have been announced the reserves will be announced I believe Sunday but the Cleveland Guardians for the first time since the year 2000 have two members of the American League starting lineup so let’s give a round of applause to those guys those guys being Steph Quan and Jose Ramirez Stephen Quan is batting 360 seven home runs 24 RBIs with an Ops of 0. N4 now keep in mind that this is being recorded as the Cleveland Guardians are currently playing so those numbers can change Jose came into this game against the white socks batting 274 with 23 home runs 76 rbi’s and a Ops of8 72 another note on Stephen Quan I believe that last night he needed uh four at bats to qualify for the batting title he is now number one ahead of Aaron judge when it comes to the race for the 2024 baton Champion I just want to say this uh earlier well last week we did mid-season grades for the Cleveland guardians or individual players and Steph Quan and Jose ramire got a A+ from everybody that was on the panel overall for the Cleveland Guardians I gotta give them a A+ you know I think FanDuel and other sports bet Outlets had the over under for the Guardians to win it was like 81 and a half games I could be off a couple games but it was somewhere in the low 80s of how many games that they will win this year and the Guardians are on Pace to win more games to that the Guardians came into this year with a very young roster of guys that when they got their opportunity in Seasons P hadn’t really done anything to prove that they was worthy for real and Chris anetti told us that you know what I’m GNA run it back with the majority of these guys because we have to see what we have in this young these young prospects before we move on and most of us as fans we didn’t like that and then you go hire a rookie manager and Steven vote and when you could look at everything that I just said and you put all of that in a pot I don’t think nobody would believe that the Cleveland Guardians would be in the position that they’re in right now with the league that they have in the AL Central with them being one of the two or top three teams of all of Major League Baseball throughout the first part of the year keep in mind we haven’t even reached the allstar break yet and so overall as a team I got to give the Guardians a A+ for how they’ve played in the first half of this season you know David fry played outside of his mind for the better part of the first half of this year he’s starting to come down to earth a little bit but you know what if he ended the season right now with the stats that he have that’s a season that nobody that’s an expert would have projected for him and so you You Gotta Be You got to be proud of him you got to be proud that Stephen V is getting the most out of guys that you really didn’t expect to get much uh contribution from this season Stephen vot has done wonders with this team y’all like the confidence that they they play with the level of energy that they play with they feed off of him the attitude is a reflection of leadersh ship quote is real and you see it uh a lot with the Cleveland Guardians the these days man so again shout out to Stephen Quan shout out to Jose Ramirez uh the Cleveland Guardians 2024 starting representatives for the allstar game man I’m looking forward to uh watching the Guardians game spending some time with the people that I love and care about once I get done with y’all I just wanted to jump on give y’all some content this morning man let y’all know I love y’all as always man spread love be great spreading love is priceless being great that come with a price till next time [Music]

In this episode of the Ultimate 216 Show, Earl Da Pearl shares his thoughts on the proposed trade that would send Darius Garland and Caris Levert of the Cavaliers to the Lakers. In return, Cleveland would get forward Cam Johnson (Nets), Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura, both of the LA Lakers.

Also, it’s the NFL offseason, so what else is there to do but come up with hypothetical trade scenarios? EDP gives a “what if” that he would love Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry to make.

José Ramírez and Steven Kwan will be in the starting lineup for the American League at the 94th Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas, on July 16.

Ramírez and Kwan won positions at third base and left field, respectively, after results of fan voting were revealed Wednesday by the league | https://www.cleveland.com/guardians/2024/07/jose-ramirez-steven-kwan-named-all-star-game-starters-for-american-league.html

  1. If that was really on the table you make that trade in a heartbeat if you're the Cavs. You're solving issues with that trade. You get size at Guard with Reaves who's 6'5 and can play off ball and also create his own shot when needed. You get a tall wing player with 3 point shooting and you get a good bench player in Rui who has size, defense, and offense. Also I believe money wise it helps the Cavs out as well

  2. Not a single player they're getting back is an upgrade of DG or caris and people are saying yeah this is great 😂😂

  3. I don’t know if you remember there was a game two years ago between the suns and Knicks, where Randle got ejected for shoving Johnson and then Johnson went off in the second half for 38 points and hit the game winner. That’s when I became a fan of Johnson.Pause. I would do this trade in a heartbeat

  4. In a citizen/police officer encounter a citizen has a 97% chance of being the one who is harmed. The officer has a 3% chance. The officer also have the benefit of doubt and has qualified immunity. Citizens don’t.

  5. i would absolutely love this trade. i honestly hope they accept this but knowing this team, they probably wont.

  6. I really appreciate your insights on Ultimate and this morning your call for "civilians" and "law enforcement" to bridge the divide that exists. Keep up the good work. You and Ethan Sands are quickly becoming my favorite sports commentators.

  7. Look, because the core 4 didn't work with JB, it doesn't mean the core 4 can't work with Kenny. Kenny said he could make it work. Can we allow Kenny to cook first? Plus, Kenny has called LeVert and JA his sons. Kenny don't want to trade any of them. DG has already refuted the klutch sports quote about him wanting to leave. Can we be patient with the trade machine for now? If it doesn't work by the trade deadline, we can make a move then.
