The Moment of Truth for Miles Bridges and Charlotte Hornets | The Drive with Josh Graham

it feels a little too quiet on the miles Bridges front right now I agree a little too quiet the Moment of Truth For Miles bridges in the Hornets has arrived Bobby marks of ESPN earlier today said a move of some sorts should happen in the next 48 hours either today on the 4th of July or tomorrow free agency opened up on Monday this quiet’s held for too long miles is a free agent and ever since Monday crickets rumors of the Cavaliers expressing interest the LA Clippers showing some interest this goes one of two ways either miles resigns with Charlotte or it’s a sign and trade and he plays for someone else but Charlotte does get something back in return Charlotte has let it be known they want miles back though here was Jeff Peterson after completing the draft last week I I don’t want to get into any individual uh negotiations um that I’ve had what I you know I’ve made it very clear to miles that we want him to remain as a hornet Jeff Peterson doesn’t offer a lot it’s probably the most that he’s offered since becoming the Hornets du GM making it clear they want to bring miles back obviously this is going to come down to money if he’s going to return a hornet it’s not going to be on a Max contract nor does he deserve a Max contract just for all the offc court headaches that he’s brought to the team and the team standing by him and the lack of him playing in a lot of games to Warrant getting that Max extension that all applies here if he’s willing to sign for less than the max which if memory serves is around $34 million average annual salary a year sign for something around the 27 to 29 maybe $30 million range that’s what Bobby Mark said his value would be if he were a GM trying to resign miles then he remains a hornet and that’s good news if he’s not willing to sign for L sign and trade him to a team that is willing to pay and the team that makes the most sense for my bridges that is not the Charwood Hornets are the LA Clippers he’s a clutch client rich Paul’s out in La that’s a city that a lot of clutch clients have been steered to but think about it from the Clippers perspective this is a potential Allstar level Talent you just lost Paul George you have the richest owner in the NBA by far maybe the richest owner in all of American Pro Sports and Steve Balmer and you have a new building that’s opening up separate from the Lakers that you want people to go to you don’t have Paul George anymore who’s gonna be alongside Kawhi Leonard find somebody who could be an All-Star level talent and Miles Bridges could be that so they might be willing to overpay for those reasons but the moment of truth has arrived for Miles Bridges and for Charlotte expect something to move on that front either today or tomorrow

Josh explains why it’s been far too quiet on the Charlotte Hornets-Miles Bridges front and why a decision is imminent in the next couple days.

  1. Clippers can only return crap. They have no draft picks before 2030 and the players mentioned (Norman Powell and Terrance Mann) are both guards which the Hornets are already overloaded with. Takes up too much cap and roster space for players that are not part of the long-term future. Mann offers the most talent but would be an expensive bench player with redundant skills. Same is true for Okorro at Cleveland. Better off trying to work deals with the Lakers for Hachimura or Jazz for John Collins.
