Mikal Bridges Trade FINALIZED! Knicks Receive Keita Bates-Diop In Updated Deal… | Knicks News

it’s official the Knicks have finally traded for Mel Bridges and completed the deal and with that announcement today they also included some other players into the deal we’re going to break down the full trade package and why Leon Rose and the Knicks came out ahead in this deal we’re going to look at all of this and so much more today if you’re not already subscribed to the channel go ahead and have been waiting for the last few days ever since they announced the deal and trade for Mel Bridges for it to be finalized and today it finally happened let’s break down the full trade details so we can see who the Knicks are receiving and every everything the Nets are receiving according to Ian Bagley shout out to him and SNY for giving us the following updates the final trade is going to be that the Knicks received Mel Bridges and keah Bates Diop and the Nets receed boan bogdanovich Shake Milton on a sign in trade mamade diate and draft picks and those draft picks again are four unprotected first round picks 2025 2027 2029 and 2031 one protected first round pick via the Milwaukee Bucks in 20225 a 2028 first round pick Swap and a second round pick as well too one of the biggest concerns I had about this trade and I’m sure a lot of Nick fans shared my concerns as well it was about miles McBride I did not want to have to include deuce in this deal so that Knicks can get into that second apron and I’m so happy to say that Leon rhod in this Nicks front office they did not let us down they did not give up Deuce we still have them on the bench and we were able to give up some other players that really had no role on this team in order to get this deal done by the Knicks doing this we also added another Wing to our roster and another thing to note about keah Bates deop even though he’s a wing and of course the Knicks love Wings they need to add another Wing they want to have that at their disposal because again if they’re looking to make trades down the road he could be a very valuable piece but before you think that the Knicks could cut him and he’s not going to make the roster do you know who actually drafted him when he came into the league let’s go ahead and look at that Tom Tibido actually drafted Bates Diop at number 48 to the Timberwolves in 2018 that’s when he was in charge as president for the Timberwolves at that point in time as well too now he’s coming over to the Knicks in this Mel Bridges deal and this is his stats for the 2022 2023 season when he was on the Spurs and he had a more active role he scored 9.7 points on average 50.8% from the field that is absolutely insane 3.7 rebounds 1.5 assist s Steals and 39.4% from the three-point line he can shoot with the best of them he can score and when he’s open he can knock down his shots he played 21.7 minutes per game in 67 games with the Spurs and now him coming to New York if there’s an injury or somebody can’t play he is absolutely going to get some time and you’re going to see him on this team so not only do we add another Tom thibo player in keah Bates Diop but he can also score he can defend he can shoot the three he understands how it feels like to play Under Tom tiido and he likely understands how it feels like to play Heavy minutes he’s a player that we need if he can come off of our bench and he can shoot threes like that it will be a win for New York the Nick doing this without having to give up Deuce still improving their roster and still having key players that they can move down the road if they need to make another move happen that is how you set up a team for Championship success and that’s exactly what Leon Rose did here shout out to Yosi Goin somebody who breaks down the NBA on YouTube quite a bit and understands the cap like nobody else he breaks down exactly why the Knicks made this deal and included the players that they did in the Mel Bridges his trade according to Yosi he States the following the New York Knicks are now 16.9 million below the 188.000 second apron with 11 players they have enough flexibility to resign presses a Chua and use the $5.2 million taxpayer mid-level exception to sign another player he goes on to break this down a little bit further mamade de’s 2.3 million salary is non-guaranteed it’ll be partially guaranteed to around 50% of that amount to make this trade work heah Bates deop doesn’t count towards salary matching from the Knicks end since he’s on a minimum salary boan shake deade for Mikel allows them to exceed 178.000 for the first apron go to the second apron and now have a lot more money that they can utilized to sign other players in free agency and make sure they can make this roster better moving forward the Knicks did exactly what they wanted to do they did not want to be hard capped at the first apron because that was going to limit their flexibility in terms of what they can do and players that they could add but now after they completed the deal like this and added the necessary players that we needed to exceed that 178 million we now are at the second apron we’re hard capped there now we have a lot more room to operate we can we don’t have to though but we can bring back precious aoua and have him on this team as a backup center to Mitchell Robinson and still have money left over in terms of the taxpayer mid-level exception to add another player to this team now that all depends on who that player is going to be like we’ve said a number of times in a couple of videos now now that the Knicks are attractive again now that they’re legit Championship contenders other players around the league are going to want to join the Knicks on vet minimums why because they want to join a championship Contender and doing so on a vet minimum is not going to hurt the player coming here that’s why we’re going to have to look around the league now and see what players are going to fit this Knicks team and what we’re trying to build moving forward again it’s about fit culture and if they can Thrive under Tom thibo if we can find players like that you need to add them to this team and the Knicks are already doing that even though they’re trading significant pieces in order to get Mel Bridges on this team they are not stopping there it’s clear they’re still trying to improve this team they’re still trying to add players that can Thrive under Tom and have an impact when they’re on the floor and if Leon Rose in this Nicks front office continues to do that throughout this offseason headed into next season we will legitimately be one of the best teams in the entire NBA and likely a top team who knows maybe a number one seed in the Eastern Conference that’s the team we’re building right now and the defense we’re going to have especially with the players we already have on this roster is going to be Sensational I don’t even think a team can come into MSG and think they can do whatever they want anymore with the defense we have with the wings we have with the players we have you are going to have a very difficult time beating the Knicks during the regular season an extremely difficult time trying to beat the Knicks come the postseason in a seven game series I don’t think it can be done and given the roster we have right now and that we’re building continuously we are going to a point that we are going to run through the the league we are going to beat everybody in front of us and New York is going to create one of the best seasons that we’ve ever seen in recent memory this season coming up I can already feel it it’s magical it’s special and Leon Rose in this Nicks front office they’re still not done yet now that we’re at the second apron we now have other moves that we can make potentially other trades that we can make either way Leon Rose is somebody you can put your trust into because you did that we got OG you continued to do that we got Mel Bridges the perfect fit for this Knicks team and now we continue to give him our trust put our faith into him and because we did that we get rewarded with today’s deal no Deuce included in the deal players that really don’t have a role on this team included and the Knicks still get another Wing to this team added in keah Bates Diop and we also get cell Bridges we head into the second apron and keep our flexibility and now we’re looking at the free agent Market seeing what players we can add to this team that’s a job well done from Leon Rose and this is what I’m talking about having a competent Nicks front office it’s been a very long time since we’ve had that but now that we do I’m spoiled by it because the Knicks and Leon Rose this front office they’re not making any more mistakes they’re not taking any unnecessary risks they’re making the right moves adding the right players and making sure it’s about fit over everything else and you know what that’s music to my ears I love to see it New York is back and we are about to head into next season as one of the best teams in the entire NBA a top team that potentially could go all the way to the NBA finals and win it all we have to thank Tom thibo for that Jaylen Brunson for that but our president of basketball operations as well too Leon Rose thank you for not only getting this trade done but making the Knicks attractive and relevant again I can’t tell you how much I It’s finally official, the New York Knicks have traded for Mikal Bridges and have now added him to their roster. With this move, NY added additional players to the deal to get the money right for them to be a second apron team. They achieved that goal but in the process also picked up another impactful wing player in the deal with the Nets, Keita-Bates Diop is now officially a Knick after being included in the Bridges deal earlier today.
