Per The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Mark Puleo, Anthony Slater and Mike Vorkunov, Hield had offers from the Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons. Ultimately, it was a phone call with head coach Steve Kerr that swayed him to pick Golden State.

Good, we didn’t need another 1-way guard.

  2. I would prefer Gary Trent Jr over him to be honest.

  3. The idea of Buddy is a lot better than Buddy

The Pacers diminished his role over time and so did the Sixers.

  4. I don’t want Hield, there is a reason Nurse barely played him in the playoffs. What is concerning for me is the front office can’t secure player commitments. I’m beginning to think there might be discussions between players that the Lakers is not a desirable place to play now, it might be because of shitty front office and executives or lack of direction. Or maybe I’m just over thinking things.

  5. It was a phone call with his accountant that changed his mind.

Crazy thing is its technically a 4 year deal worth like 36m or something. His 3rd year is non guaranteed and his 4th is a PO that may also be partially guaranteed? It’s a weird contract but I’ll pass on all that for Buddy fuckin Hield in 2024 lmao

  7. Kerr told him how much money they were offering him.

“we have a klay spot open wyd these days?”

Woulda cost us Gabe, Vando or Rui in a salary-match. Not worth.

Did the lakers offer a sign and trade or did they offer buddy a minimum.

Don’t know why some people have an obsession with getting BH. Dude has always been inconsistent and is trash. Thanks, warriors

So wtf. I feel like every fucking move this offseason is a fuck you to the Lakers.

Edit: Not saying I wanted Buddy but the fact that people just add “but the Lakers tried” into almost every move lmao.

So far it seems Klay, DeRozan, and Hield rejected the Lakers. Good fit or not, that’s bad. The Lakers have gotten a very bad rep in the league since the Russ trade. Don’t think JJ inspires that much confidence as a coach right now either for some people

  14. The first thing I do for players is go look at an off data to get a sense of their worth on the floor. It can get muddy for certain periods of games but over years? It paints a picture. Hield has been a negative nearly every single year of his career on the floor. Good luck to the Warriors

Max Christie is going to be better than Hield next season. Come back to this comment.

These players, coaches and agents are automatically programmed to say the Lakers had interest even if it’s not true. Best negotiating tactic there is.
