HUGE Targets for the Detroit Pistons

HUGE Targets for the Detroit Pistons

so trying to get the Pistons right and there’s no easy fix I think we all know that one undeniable fact is it’s not easy we it’s we can talk about it it’s great it’s fantastic but but it isn’t easy so many names being thrown out there um Lonzo [Music] ball he he finished he’s just wrapped in gauze his whole life just right I go I I just career 12 six and six the kid can play yeah but he can’t stay healthy you can’t sorry just doesn’t work if you can’t stay healthy it’s been two years since he been out two years yeah yeah his brother can’t stay healthy either yeah lamelo yeah that’s too bad it is yeah M’s a Hooper though I don’t I don’t miss that whole craze though I’m not gonna I’m not going to lie with Dad and all that I I I’ll miss that you’re good on Lavar huh I would say Lavar he did his he did I about say he did what he said he would do he he’s a brilliant businessman flers for that when are we get the Lamar Jordan oneon-one though that’s what I want to know because I never got tired of that kind I would have loved that I’m I’m with you shut out you think you would have shut him out oh he and and you know how competitive Jordan would have embarrassed him Michael would have no mercy whatsoever no no mercy whatsoever oh my goodness you got a name though I do have a name we’ve been teasing it I’m I’m now again this is this is piston royalty here okay if you guys don’t know that this is piston royalty so I’m intrigued well so there’s a few things here on the books that people are talking about one is a Zack LaVine or Alonzo ball trade the Zack LaVine trade is stalling right now they want to give up one first rounder people want two and he is a massive contract for not just the next year but for the next three I don’t mind either one of those moves as kind of a last ditch effort for the the Pistons to get some draft Capital um there is something interesting that actually just came up before the show and um what we’ve seen is a whole lot of time being spent between a Mr Brandon Ingram and Kade Cunningham they’ve been seen shooting around together the last few days that is a trade that I would 100% be on board here you get a little shot here pulled off a Twitter of them shooting around they’ve been spending some time together and the rumor is that Ingram is to be had so if the Pistons can come up with something this is the piece this is the missing piece for the Piston the Pistons that allows to move Tobias to the three and really allows us to not have to force somebody into our starting lineup that shouldn’t be there I’ll Tim Hardway now the name that I want to drop today I know that Kool-Aid dropped this because I hit him on on I think it was Friday last week and I was like hey what do you think about this he’s like I’ve actually been on that it might have seemed like a long shot at the beginning of free agency but this is a guy that was linked to the Lakers but we’ve seen a lot of people linked to the Lakers not want to go there that is an impending implosion as we talked about on Wednesday the guy that I think the Pistons could maybe have a shot at as we get later into the free agency process that I think could not only fit in perfectly with this team as a leader and as a just a player in that starting lineup that actually would super fit into the city of Detroit is Mr de Demar D rozan what do you think about that Sean with Tobias and Cade y that would be that would be like my first concern is there is there is he gonna bring Kendrick with him I think that that would be the the second right is well that that we we could go off for 10 minutes we that was a nice drop right there I I you say we no we could we talk about yeah Sasser is the point guard starting you’re going to throw him in there because you’ve got two other ball handling two and three in Cade and Demar that can switch up your defensive assignments as well as handle the point guard duties this is a guy that has a championship that understands the NBA that might be an a part of his career where he wouldn’t mind mentoring somebody like Kate this would be a hell of a dynamic duo um you know this is a this is a hard dude this is a guy that would fit in and be embraced by detroiters and michiganders as a whole um what he would do defensively and offensively to this team call me crazy I cook up hot red white and blue cornbread on The Daily but this is a guy that if you could put him into this lineup or Brandon Ingram if you could trade him for maybe a an ivy or maybe an oer and a pick um either one of these two guys could take this team from us wondering whether they can win 28 and a half games to maybe even being a 36- win team that could sniff a play in game and I think this is the this is the point like I’m not going to lie to you and you guys can make fun of me as as bad as I thought for sure when you’re talking about having a healthy Cade Cunningham back in the lineup and obviously we know how things turned out I thought for sure that over under last year was a given maybe that’s why I don’t gamble because it’s like what was your improving point where were you coming from right so like to me it was like over 27 all I I believe it was 27 if I’m not I think it was like 26 27 yeah I I was like over 27 all day so I’m with you to me the hard part is not get back to I guess the outskirts of mediocre Ville that’s not the hard part to me I don’t think it’s that difficult to go from where they’re at to 36 wins because I can hear people saying oh you’re out of your mind no that’s not the hard part is to get to from 36 to 45 to 50 and then the really hard part is to go take that next level I don’t think it’s crazy to think that way I I really don’t now again a lot of things have to have to happen health is is first and foremost you can’t predict whether a guy gets hurt or not I don’t think it’s that crazy an and I really don’t kg I want to I want to hear from you on this one because everybody’s talking about players and about what this guy can do to affect this team I think the biggest change that will bring Improvement to the Pistons this coming season is a coach that wants to be here big facts and a coach that is going to embrace and has already shown that he can and that is the development of young players no most definitely and JB bicker staff is somebody that specializes in that department he’s shown that if you can feel him the proper team he can’t turn them into a winning product so I I don’t think it’s crazy Sean I mean I I think with the pieces that they’ve already required that’s a 10- win jump minimum like we can’t go back we we shouldn’t be in the teens ever again at this point 100 so I I feel like at least 25 wins but I don’t want to place expectations on this team but there’s just so many different routes that you can take and I don’t mind the Demar D Roan uh uh choice that you made I don’t think he’s the perfect fit but he’s definitely somebody that can come in here and help and I mean at this point begar can’t really be choosers yeah so but the only thing I will argue on is Marcus Sasser you want Marcus Sasser to be in the starting role I I think it’s in him I want to see him forced into that next jump I didn’t think that he got enough playing time last year now let me ask you Joel who would you rather have would you rather trade for Ingram or would you rather sign to Rosen cuz I was just going to say the way I look at those two signings I look at both of them as like if you’re more so focused on just trying to get to the play in or playoffs right now and not really more so focus on building like a set team a nice base or foundation for the future years so like you sign or trade those two players or sign D Roan or treade for Brandon Ingram if you like we want to make the playoffs this year we we know we’re not we we want to just make the playoffs we don’t really care about winning the series but we want to give our fans like we want to put some butts in seats we want to get fans coming to the games will sign or uh D rozan or trade for Brandon Ingram I would say though what I’ve been saying on our show is a just uh four go signing anybody this year just like cut your ties like cuz there’s nobody that’s going to swing it enough for you to like help that you could build your future off of left and then there’s really nobody left that’s going to like be that big free agent signing that could be like put you in the playoffs and probably win you a series so I would say just save the money and then maybe in like next year uh whenever the free agents come sign somebody then and then cuz right now we not going to do anything so yeah we would just be spending money to spend money is on would be on the last year of his deal so that does can I say this to that point though I I don’t think that the Pistons forget about the fans for a second I don’t think pieces on this team can go through the type of season that they had last year that’s a like in your in your I mean because listen we all have the option right the Tiger game yesterday oh cool I I’m going to turn this off I I can go check on my ribs right we we Anon has the option to say you know what I want to go down there why why the hell am I going to go down there you know these guys have to deal with that every single day and they have to deal with the questions and they have to deal with the hecklers and they have to deal so so to me I I think if anything from a psychological standpoint for this this for this franchise right now tell some of these pieces a guy like Kate Cunningham dude like we don’t want to operate like this like like we want you to know we’re making an effort I get it this is this is you know a short-term fix this is a couple of stitches whatever the case may be but but it’s not it’s not just throwing our hands up in the air saying oh we’re screwed I guess you know we just have to roll with it to me I I want to see that effort I want to say we get where we’re at I know we’re not going to jump up or anything but you know we’re not just going to accept the fact that oh well this is our light life let’s not do nothing right and that was defined by the two-year deal given to Tobias Harris yes you know this isn’t a guy we’re desperate to get and we’re going to give him a four-year deal cuz we can’t do anything else and I would say that the Demar now that I realize that Ingram’s on a one-year deal that’s not a trade I’d want to make yeah cuz the likelihood of retaining him and getting him to sign here they’d really have to make a move as a team to be close to the playoffs to to get somebody to stay here like that um you know demard de Roa if you could sign him for two years and do exactly what you’re talking about where you put that shot of of of you know confidence back into C cuz this guy’s never wavered from his desire to be a piston despite all the crap he’s gone through um how many more years of that though can you actually the clock is ticking can you depend on soon as you sign that extension the clock is ticking but I mean he signs that extension and they win 19 games this year what kind of Cade comes back this season after that if they only win 25 the year after that because all they’ve done is ADD Tobias Harris yeah how interested is he being here so now you might be looking at a third-year cade in this new deal where you need to move me yeah and you’re right back where you were last year right back where you are this year so there’s it is a fine line Sean of of getting some help to make these guys want to be here and at the same time like you’re talking about both of you guys Joel and and kg is bringing in somebody that isn’t going to be here long term to just try and fill some seats it’s a it’s a tight tight rope that they’re walking right now they’re comes a point in time and just when you were describing that I couldn’t help but think of Matthew Stafford like honestly yeah that’s a great he he had enough like like I thank God he had enough I’m serious really it worked out wonderful it worked out for him he went and got his Super Bowl you had to have competent people in place in order to facilitate a deal like that and why the hell to his to his defense why the hell would Matthew Stafford think that this was going to be any different than every other previous sign exactly there came a point in time where the man got beaten down he’s like I sorry I I you know and that that’s the kind of stuff I don’t think when we have these conversations I I don’t think sometimes we think of these guys as the human beings that they are like seriously I mean like screw this wait wait a second I I can go to LA right I I instead of sit through a third rebild I can go I can go play for a team that’s already Championship ready that’s this close and by golly I might be perceiv as the last piece are you serious and and again everything worked out and stick shout out I didn’t think golf would be the guy I got to be honest I always say that to my boy stick but listen it that’s perfect but that’s what I’m talking about if I’m K Kade Cunningham okay great you guys can all talk about Treon you can all talk about Treon but where’s my help same As It Ever Was same as it ever was I mean that and that’s I think we have to worry about that and that’s why I caution when I mean look in a perfect world it’s great to say let’s just tank right let’s let’s just let’s just tank for the fifth pick for the yeah right exactly that’s the point you know take for what oh wow the lottery but hey we’re at five again that’ll change the fortune of our franchise so I think for Optics true the guys in your room more than anything you have to say okay we’re bad we get it but we’re we’re going to swing we’re going to keep making an effort and you know whether it be D rozan and and we’ll figure out how to to keep everything and and these guys can coexist with Cade and and Tobias and D rozan we we’ll figure out that that at out down the line adding this guy does that help our franchise does that improve uh the quality of this basketball team if the answer is yes go for it yeah absolutely and I they they are at a spot where they have I mean as much as you have to build responsibility and and I got to say this is a desperate team that has made mostly smart moves this off season so far with with some new people in charge but you absolutely and it’s not just for Cade because this team you know you’ve got to be able to get people wanting to be here as well as fans wanting to go down to see them so Tobias Harris isn’t going to do that you know Tobias har is going to give us a little bit of respectability maybe a couple of extra wins um it it will help k but another guy just one more guy not an Alec Burks type of guy or anything like that it’s got to be one more guy that you can that none of us are arguing whether he’s starting or not because that’s what we’ve got I mean yeah is Duran a starter is Isaiah Stewart a starter is Sasser a starter is Jaden Ivy a starter is oser a starter is Holland a starter I mean how long is the list of guys that we don’t know who’s going to be starting or not I I can’t even debate my buddy anymore because it’s just such a Grievous waste of time Hollander oer Sasser or you know Ivy I mean what are we doing here 1. The depth of understanding demonstrated is humbling, reminding me of the vastness of human intellect.💞

  2. Demar, Cade and Tobias would be the midrange all-star team of the century. Throw in Ingram and that's the hall of fame midrange team.

  3. People be missing the point, the prize isn’t Lonzo Ball or Zach Lavine or whoever, the prize is the multiple 1st round draft picks that teams are willing to give up in order for the Pistons to take on one of those bad contracts

  4. Doesn’t sound like they’re gonna get the assets they were seeking and they have to spend 90% of the salary cap so yes, I’ve long been saying go get Derozan. We’d have a good balance of vets and young players and a good GM could keep building off of that

  5. Do Pistons remember the Blake Griffin contract? Well if you get Lonzo and Zach Lavine then that is what you are in line for. If Pistons get either of those guys then they will have set their franchise back yet again. The main reason we are in this mess is because of the Josh Smith and Blake Griffin contracts. One another note, the only reason Cade and Ingram are working out together is because they have the same trainer. Pistons should avoid Lonzo, Ingram and Zach Lavine at all costs.

  6. What's amazing about DeRozan request… Interesting when Casey was spisssss for him, they shut em down. Then he hit 30 ppg smh. Detroit is notoriously consistent for being a Day late 💵 short.
