The Bulls and Zach Lavine Divorce is About to get Real Messy
when the Chicago Bulls traded away Jimmy Butler on the night of the draft in 2017 triggering a rebuild after a failed season of the three Alphas a new era of basketball was ushered in headlin by their assets they acquired in that deal of the second-year player in Chris dun the number seven pick in the draft which they used to select low marinan and of course Zack LaVine who was a promising young talent but was coming off an ACL injury and of course we now know what ultimately would happen to the other pieces the Bulls would let Chris Dunn walk in the off season of 22 and Larry Markin would be part of a signage trade the following off season with new management at the helm but Zack LaVine however would remain with the team and actually would become a piece the bus would prioritize building around after becoming an All-Star for the first time would continue to get better and better as a player becoming more efficient and lethal on offense and to this day would remain with the organization as the bull’s current longest tenured player and only one of two players remaining from the prior regime of GARP the other piece of course being Kobe white But Here we are now 7 years after the trade which the Bulls landed Zack LaVine two contract extensions multiple roster changes and what was once a strong relationship between Zach the coaching staff and the front office is now starting to fracture and with the bulls still unable to find a trade partner for Zach is starting to get messy and may only get worse the longer Zach remains with the team and we’re going to dive into some of the recent updates on Zack LaVine his relationship with the bulls and what this ultimately means going forward so what’s going on everyone you’re listening to Bull Central here hope you’re all doing well also if you’re new to the channel be sure to subscribe as I’m trying to reach 45,000 subscribers by the end of the year we just recently passed 40 and I cannot thank you all enough for the support now look it’s no secret that the Bulls and Zack LaVine have been trying to get him to a new destination for some time now the Bulls had previously been shopping Zach dating all the way back to the 2223 season the first year in which they actually signed him to that max deal and then of course things really came to a head when at the beginning of last season the Bulls really struggled out of the gate they didn’t even look like they were going to be a playing Team guys were visible frustrated nothing was working they were playing selfish my turn basketball and Zach said all right I’ve had enough let’s work on a trade together now it’s never been referred to as a trade request coming from Zack LaVine but more so according to Zach’s agent Rich Paul as well as Zack LaVine and remarks he’s made to the media that if the Bulls continue to play like this and they’re looking to make changes that they would be willing to work together in finding mat trade Zack even stated that he never once said he wanted to be traded but in my view that’s about as close to a trade Quest as you can get he didn’t see a future where the Bulls were best positioned to win he wanted to be part of a winning team and both sides agreed that they would work together to find a new home the problem though is that what seemed like a relatively easy solve trading one of the more efficient scores in the league and a two-time allar teams didn’t want Zack LaVine in his contract and we went from okay let’s try and extract multiple draft picks maybe even exchange him for an equivalent star player or an up and cominging young talent to okay maybe we can get one pick to okay maybe we can get a highle role player that fits the roster to well well crap there really isn’t a market for Zack LaVine and now there’s a world where we’re going to have to treat this as a salary dump scenario and get back minimal Assets in return to even worse having to attach assets like a pick or a player with value to just get off of Zach’s deal and that’s where we find ourselves currently today where there is a non-existent market for Zack LaVine in which you have teams that seemingly aren’t even interested in getting a pick as an incentive to take on Zack Line’s contract now I talked about this in a recent video how the level of disrespect and the negative perception around Z LaVine is getting a bit out of control and this is coming from one of the bigger Zach critics of someone who’s been skeptical of the Bulls giving him a max deal but at this point people are acting like Zack LaVine is on the worst contract in the NBA and the Bulls will have to be able to move mountains just to get off his deal to me is obnoxious when you consider the fact that he’s still one of the better scorers in the NBA one of the League’s most efficient three-point Shooters and he’s in his prime the man has value in being a contributor on any team in the NBA especially those looking to contend and needing an added scoring piece but regardless what I think doesn’t really matter it’s what the league thinks of Zach his value and determining what his Market is worth in a trade right now it’s at its peak lowest point and because the Bulls are in a place where they are unable to trade Zack LaVine they’re trying to restart and go through this youth movement or rebuild whatever you want to call it and Zach is not going to be a part of that future the longer though this continues to drag out the Messier this inevitably will become now according to Joe Callie the Sun Times which again this is Joe Calli who I consider to be one of the least credible and respected reporters on the Bulls beat so take it with a grain of salt but according to Coe the relationship between LaVine and the Bulls organization has been completely shattered and filled with mistrust evidently LaVine and his agent have felt like they have been misled on possible trade destinations leading up to last year’s trade deadline while the Bulls on the other hand were less than pleased in LaVine opting for season ending surgery last year when there was a possibility to potentially rehab that knee without getting surgery this of course after trade rumors were starting to pick up the Bulls and pistons were in discussions on a PO potential deal to send LaVine to Detroit and then Zach conveniently opted for surgery killing any traction in the trade now whether or not that’s true that Zach suddenly opted for season ending surgery instead of rehabbing the injury to avoid being traded to the Pistons is Up For Debate in Zach’s defense though I find it very unlikely that he would opt to have surgery if surgery wasn’t in fact necessary you don’t go under the knife unless a doctor tells you it’s the best path forward for you to be able to heal properly it’s just the timing of it all made it a bit suspect given there was finally some traction on the Bulls be able to move Zach which is what he wanted but to the worst team in the league yeah not so much and then of course more recently you had Rich Paul address folks in the media over the phone call in which he had to emphasize the point that Zach has been nothing but professional how he’s played while being hurt how he represented this franchise with class how despite some of the things that have happened recently he’s always taken the high road that he’s been the ultimate professional and deserves better and look I get why his agent is saying this right now his client Zack LaVine isn’t showing up well across the NBA his char character has been attacked the negative perception around the league for the most part in my opinion isn’t warranted and he’s trying to repair his trade value and his reputation a bit to get him to where he wants but what I will say is this I don’t think anyone ever questioned lavine’s professionalism maybe up until this past season when he had a few moments where he looked bad in shrugging off the pr staff or after a win being a little short at times with the media but for the most part throughout his time with the bulls through the good and the bad he’s conducted himself well I would have never said that he was unprofessional as a player for me it was more so the attitude as at times the way he carried himself on the court when things weren’t going his way I’ve said this before but there was a lack of accountability for some of his poor play I go back to that game against the magic where he was what shooting two for 15 Billy benched him at the end of the game and the Bulls came back and nearly won it Zach then went on to soul and said that Billy had to stand on that decision and then carry that Grudge throughout the rest of the year towards Billy Donovan I mean I would have liked to see Zach be a better mentor to some of the younger players making his teammates better stuff that we see from demard De R rozan and again that goes both on and off the course so to me I think those are really the bigger things that bother me about Zack LaVine during his time with the bulls I would have never said that he was an unprofessional player so not really sure why Rich Paul is hammering that point and look we also don’t know some of the things that are going on behind the scenes maybe the Bulls are sling this a little bit and unwilling to take a lesser return to move Zach when Zach is growing more and more frustrated by the day and why he wants to be traded ASAP maybe Zach and his agent have given a handful of teams they would want to see him traded to and are expecting the Bulls to honor that given how long he’s been with the team and the Bulls are saying no we’ll trade you to whoever gives us the best deal we don’t know all I know is that the longer this plays out the more you’ll see these little subtle Jabs and shots taken from lavine’s side as well as from the Bulls and those Jabs will start becoming more and more overt and maybe going into direct attacks making the whole thing more and more public because Rich Paul does like to make things public to get his client what he wants I can see them spinning this as the Bulls fault as an untrustworthy organization and making it seem like the Bulls are tanking lavine’s value I can just see this getting really really nasty the longer Zach remains with this team and look I’ve seen a lot of people say well the Bulls should just hold on to Zach let him start out the season recoup some of his value and trade him prior to the deadline to get a better return I really think we’re beyond that point at this point because Zach doesn’t want to be here even if you can’t trade him and they decide to let him start playing next season he’s not going to play Team Basketball to actually help the development of the younger players no he’s going to do everything to ensure he gets traded which means playing basketball likely suking more not being a good locker room presence when everyone knows he has his foot out the door he’s going to be frustrated he’s going to be annoyed and it’s just going to be bad for The Vibes and culture around the team no the Bulls have to trade him at some point this off season they have to make a deal work if they truly want to get to this next iteration and era of Bulls basketball they have to end this relationship now before things get even worse I don’t think we’re going to see LaVine moved within the next few days this could be more of an end of the offseason type thing but who knows things can change drastically in NBA free agency with my luck we’ll get the word that Zach has been traded right after I upload this video making it a moot topic but either way let me know what you guys think and what you think the Bulls should do with Zack LaVine let me know in the comments as always be sure to subscribe and I will see you in the next one

Didn’t help when he left during the first half of the season the bulls were thriving without him.
If the 1st is still attached then there is a growing voice to trade him to LA.
I just can't see a team taking his contract on at this time. I think he would have to come out next season and play at an elite level for the first half of the season consistently for teams to start thinking about trading for him to bolster their playoff rosters.
Are we sure Zach/Paul aren't trying to finesse where they want to go and the offer is clearly crap so the Bulls are at a standoff? I feel we may be stuck with him.
Trying build around was the dumbest thing we've ever done, which is saying something
Don't care what Lavine or Klutch Sports wants. Send him to Detroit for Taj Gibson and a Jet's Pizza.
when zach came back the first time, he was great on the court. and there were plenty of rumors then and all that, but he was deferring and not taking crazy shots. what behavior have you seen from him that would imply that it would be different now?
Go watch Melo & Dolla’s interview on what goes on behind the scenes… They broke this down PERFECTLY and it’s EXACTLY what Lavine is going through.
I'm not even that opposed if just keep Zach at this point, if no one sees his value is there any point of trading him away just to get his salary out? I feel like realistically whats holding him back is his IQ on the court and that can easily be fixed with better discipline on the court, idk hot take maybe.
Again Again the media is to blame for this BS. Look let's face it might as well deal with this and figure how to work this out. Because all this makes no sense. It really does make sense at all. I don't see happening. But you all in the media don't help……..
It's the same organisation who treated MJ with disrespect. So, what's new
Rehab his foot not knee and the doctor's said if he cant handle the pain/discomfort than the only next step is surgery. In the past he's played thru injuries and with how bad he looked to start the season, the injury probably had an effect on his play
There are plenty of trade partners, it's just AK doesn't accept those trades
Let’s get this over with – time for the young Bulls to get going👍
The bulls dont owe zach anything, thats what the money was for.
This is why clippers made the ride decision to let Paul George walk for nothing. It will turn into another Zach lavine situation. Magic giving franz Wagner the max might turn into another Darius garland situation. Cleveland can’t give away Darius for free
You’re the reason this narrative is out. Lavine will not be selfish come the beginning of the season he’ll play team ball like he did upon his return. He avg damn near a triple double.
I do not want Zach to still be here in Oct or think that is best. I find a path to trading him soon as difficult as best. Especially if Demar goes to SAC.
I agree. Zach can never play another game for the Bulls.
Imagine your boss gives you a 200% raise, $40 million a year and you act like you’re being mistreated. Unbelievable.
When you have a $212M deal your trying to get off your books, there is no such thing as a bad deal less taking more years and money.. Now if its for a more effective player, then do it. Clutch Sports didnt want him in Detroit and Zach didnt want to be in Detroit so he went for surgery to destroy that deal. Clutch wants there guys in major markets so they gonna hold the Bulls hostage for as long as they can.. If he cant get to eihter coast, no move will happen if they have anything to do with it.. And no matter how you feel about Zach, the League has told you that him at that money is Ludacris. 20/5/5 on losing teams dont mean you great, it means you have the green light.
Blame zac lavine he sucks
He needs to play himself into a trade, reduce his bloated contract, or stay with the Bulls with a good attitude
I think it’s part Zach’s injury question marks, but mostly an indictment of the way other teams view the Bulls FO. I just think teams believe they ultimately will give even more to get off the money or potentially agree to a buy out and someone will add him and make the Bulls look very stupid.
They’re just going to have to keep him for the time being. Can’t see any team interested in trading for him.
Time 4@buyout & the bulls front office learn @hard lesson bout paying 4 what could b instead of RESULTS!!!
This is a tweet, not a video.
It's not just his contract bro, the guy is an asshole to be around. Do you forget all the in fighting with the team? That's because they have an enlightened asshole as a team mate. Thibs knew it and took Jimmy quick. Even though they knew Butler is kinda a media diva himself, Thibs knew this guy was a complete A-Hole. Now the NBA knows it, and no one wants that cancer around their team. Why do you think Lavine didn't shop himself around during free agency? He knew the Bulls over valued him, and once teams made offers, the Bulls would wake up to the fact they were the fools. SO he took the fool's gold, and now he is reaching incentives and cashing checks. He cares nothing about winning.
Imagine we traded Lavine during that year RUdy Gobert got traded
Was a dick move from him and nobody gonna win. What a douche.
Who gives a fuk about Zach Levine. We never made it out the first round of the playoffs. They rewarded a loser. We traded Jimmy Butler for a offensive bum. Selfish bum. Never won in Minnesota. Now they got Anthony Edwards. We got bum azz Zac. He a loser. You all fell for a bad trade. We fuked
This divorce is nasty. Are we gonna have split custody with LaVine? 😂
We shouldn't try to extract value out of teams (2nd round at best) and we absolutely should not give up a pick to get rid of him. If he sucks it up and raises his value its a win win. If he cries and pouts put him at the end of the bench until he changes his attitude. Since we are rebuilding he has NO LEVERAGE at this point
Guys, THIS ISN'T THE REAL YOU! STOP FIGHTING!!
Zach planned to get paid and leave Chicago. Every single off court decision he's made since going into the '20-'21 season indicates this. His relationship with the Bulls has always been something of a house of cards. This goes way back to when he signed his initial 80m dollar contract all those years ago. Of course he's always said the right thing and been a professional. But the house of cards began to crumble when his plan to leave…which we'll just call for personal and business reasons…didn't work out as intended. This is the result. And if the Bulls weren't silly for re-signing him to his most recent contract….they would have lost him for nothing otherwise….they were stupid for not trading him the season before last when his value was at an all time high. They could have cleared him and the contract off the books and walked away with a couple players and better yet, a few picks. They did nothing. Management…good management…could see this coming a mile away. From the time they signed him they should have seriously considered trading him. And not for perceived "equal talent." Role players, picks, done. Oh…but this is Bulls management? Nevermind😅😭😅
Zach is being crazt disrespected. Yes, his contract is not favorable. Yes, he has not been who he is expected to be when he signed his MAX deal. But man, I swear teams would rather take on Ben Simmons' contract for example over Zach's contract….
Dude you realize you are part of the reason why public perception of lavine isnt good right? Own fanbase is trashing lavine whos been given shit for 7 yrs and simultaneously praising the best teammate hes had is a 34 yr old journeyman who was never a winner before the bulls got here.
Ive always liked your takes otherwise but your obsession with demar and this raging hatred against lavine is not something thats gone unnoticed. So to hear you call anyone saying lavines deal the worst in the league "annoying" feels disingenuous at best because you are part of the reason why that idea is in their heads in the 1st place. Do better
The media tarnished Zach’s career lowkey.
Once the team started 5-14 and then they started winning without him, the media dragged him.
Both Zach and the front office is to blame for this messy Breakup
No team wants to trade for death sentence of a contract. Chicago shot themselves on the foot.
I love Lavine and I hope he stays. You’ve always been a hater towards him though.
I support NEITHER party.
The Bulls were NEVER sold on Lavine being a franchise player…..
YET….
when the Knicks gave the Bulls an out via a trade 2 seasons ago…..the Bulls rejected it.
Plus….
rather that let Lavine go once his contract expired….the Bulls (who they are lukewarm towards) re-signed him.
BUT….
Lavine isn't a victim. Despite his off-season work ethic….he NEVER worked in the mental aspect of the game which is why his passing is mediocre, poor time management and enhancing his game in a way to elevate his teammates.
4:39 if u dont tryst dude why are u making a video on it. Lol
Ain't nobody gna miss LaVine.. He's gonna get booed when his new team plays Chicago
This front office pisses me off. Bulls fan est. '93 I've watched this team give up on Ron Artest and Lauri Markkanen too early 😠. Should have never given up on Butler. Wouldn't have this problem. Zach can not play with us again. He will be taking touches from Giddey, White. Figure something out.
Keep him……
klutch
Trade him to china
