Los Angeles Clippers Sign Kai Jones
hey what’s up guys Brian here with Clips or die and the goat is here well sort of you guys may or may not have heard Kai Jones has signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Los Angeles Clippers so what exactly does that mean well it means that Kai Jones has the opportunity to compete for a roster spot during training camp um the last time that Kai Jones played for an NBA team was back with the Charlotte Hornets in the 2223 season during that season he averaged Ed 3.4 points 2.7 rebounds and7 blocks in 12 minutes per game um since then Kai Jones was actually waved by Charlotte in October of 2023 due to personal reasons um including erratic behavior on social media you guys may or may not remember seeing videos of Kai Jones on social media and where he would go on live and he just obviously something was up with him it’s not clear whether or not that was like mental related or something else I couldn’t really find anything online but it looks like he’s trending in the right direction um he did play for the 76ers affiliate g-league team the Delaware Blue coats during his time at the g-league with that team he averaged 11 points per game 7.5 rebounds 1.5 Block in 23.9 minutes per game so I know that those stats may not mean a lot to a lot of people being that they’re g-league and a lot of times you take those stats with a grain of salt they don’t always translate to the NBA but I know that a lot of clipper fans are excited for Kai Jones you may or may not remember that Kai Jones signed with the Clippers back in April after they went ahead and waved Josh Primo um um Kai Jones actually signed a multi-year deal which left a lot of fans confused back on Sunday on when free agency started because the Clippers ended up not picking up the team option so a lot of fans were really confused they weren’t really sure what’s going on but it seems like the interest has been there to resign um Kai Jones uh with the Clippers and yesterday we went ahead and we got the news that it looked like he was going to get that non- garanteed deal so what exactly does this mean for the Clippers and and why are fans excited for him well the number one reason I think um that people are excited for him is his athleticism he is just an athletic Beast um if you guys may or may not have seen him playing looked at his highlights he is just super athletic um fans are I think are excited to see him getting lobs seeing James Harden throw some lobs up to him um I think that he has a lot of potential um and in additionally to that he’s still young the Clippers are an older roster and Kai Jones just turned 23 in January so I think that that is another um thing um I think a lot of fans see this as a lowrisk signing with opportunity uh of him being really really great for the Clippers and him working out some people are maybe saying that it will work out kind of like hartenstein did you know hartenstein got a training camp deal and then he ended up getting a roster spot or earning his roster spot I should say um and then after that we ended up going our separate ways we know the story we chose John Wall over hartenstein which in hindsight wasn’t the best decision I don’t think it’s going to be on that level um of hartstein was but I think that Kai Jones definitely has a lot of opportunity to do really really well um additionally fans were really excited to see uh Kai Jones in the summer league summer league starts July 20 uh TW uh July 12th through the 22nd uh but unfortunately it looks like it’s been reported that Kai Jones will be out with an ankle injury and he will not be playing in summer league so we’re just going to have to wait and see if he makes the team um and hopefully he does hopefully he does well um I’m excited for him but I’m being cautiously optimistic and um I’m not getting too my hopes up way way too high um but it looks like he’s on the right track with his mental health um and I’m really hoping for the best for Kai Jones so we’re just going to have to wait and see how it plays out thanks for watching guys a [Music]
