Miami Heat Rumors: The Heat NEED to Sign and Trade for Tyus Jones

[Music] one [Applause] shot welcome back to the team de beat Miami Heat podcast my name is Amir before I get into today’s episode I just want to thank everybody for following the podcast on Spotify also want to thank everybody for subscribing to the YouTube channel if you are watching this video on YouTube now don’t forget to like comment share and subscribe thank you so much so the Miami Heat are not really making a lot of moves right now during the NBA free agency period because they simply don’t have the salary space to do that right now they the Miami Heat I believe are still a first apron team and right now in order to make any moves it’s going to have it’s going to have to happen through the trade market and I think one interesting scenario that the Miami Heat can get into is possibly a sign in trade with the Washington Wizards to get tus Jones who’s currently a free agent who is still on the market and in order for Miami to do that they have to dump their salary perhaps because right now as a first apron team they’re not able to do a sign in trade um with any of their um players right now at this point and so or any other player from another team can’t sign to that team and get traded to the Miami Heat so if they can somehow get under the the salary um cap and get under that first apron then I think tus Jones would be a really good fit as a real floor General that can lead this Miami Heats offense right now we have Terry roier Tyler hero and Alec Burks right now and none of them are true point guards all of them are essentially shoot first combo guards and the Miami Heat could use a more traditional point guard and distributor and tus Jones could be that player so tus Jones is only 27 years old he averaged 12 points seven assists one steal and three rebounds per game while shooting 41% from three last season even though he’s a 36 37% three-point shooter in his career but either way tyus Jones again with the Washington Wizards is one of the most desirable point guard free agents and it’s kind of surprising that he hasn’t been signed yet I’m not sure what kind of money he’s looking for but he’s obviously looking for a pay raise and he’s also looking to join a better team than the Wizards so far he’s been with the Memphis Grizzlies the Wizards and the t-wolves hasn’t really had a lot of opportunity as a starter so he’s most recently been a starter the last few seasons in Memphis when johnar was out and then last season obviously with the wizard so according to Michael Scotto of Hoops hype said the Wizards are open to a sign in trade scenario involving tus Jones it isn’t clear which teams are interested in signing him but technically acquiring Jones in a deal um could work out through a trade versus just through free agency so if the Miami Heat can free up some space by trading let’s say a Tyler hero to a Utah Jazz or a Detroit Pistons where they have cap space we can get a couple younger players back in return that are making way less than Tyler’s 29 million then we can then be under the first apron and make a trade so imagine a back cour of tus Jones and Terry roier or even tyus Jones and Tyler hero and trading Terry roier to create some cap space because he’s gonna be making 25 million himself so tus Jones would be that traditional point guard Tyler hero would move back to that shooting guard position same with Terry roier he’ be under SI shooting guard but again he is a scoring and he’s an elite scoring type of combo guard who averaged 23 points per game before you traded to the Miami Heat when he was on the Hornets so I think adding tyus Jones and getting rid of one of Tyler or roier not only to get tus but to get cap space for the future and for future years so we have room in case there is a real superstar that does become available so let me know what your thoughts are on hypothetic ially adding tus Jones to this team thank you so much for watching

Can the Miami Heat acquire Free agent point guard Tyus Jones in a sign and trade if they create cap space?

  1. Another undersized backcourt… They have Zyon Pullin, Alondes Williams in addition to the veterans. That won't help them. I'd rather take a chance on Dennis Smith Jr or Fultz

  2. No thank you Tyus Jones is so mid. Tyler and Terry are better he averaged 12 we complained about Lowry not scoring Terry and Tyler are both guys that can average 20
