Advance out of the group, not medal due to their lack of size

  2. Still_Couple6208

We gotta play Bo Cruz…of course we’re cooked

  3. CazOnReddit

They’re calling it the “Group of Death” for a reason

  4. Damn it got ugly all of a sudden. Gonna be a tough group it seems!

  5. vaalbarag

Probably only two teams advance out of the group, because the third-place teams in the other two groups probably put up better differentials. So yeah, it’s gonna be really tough… our guards are going to have to be head-and-shoulders better than the guards on the opposing teams every game.

  6. TheHandsomeHero

    Honestly, it’s not so bad.
Spain and Australia aren’t what they used to be. Greece is a one man show. Canada got even better

  7. GuessableSevens

Harder than other groups but we are definitely the best team here

  8. kaiyoukhan

We all destroy each other and Lebron is left with a nice easy path to winning with his Avengers

We’re the best team in this group..

Greece is just Giannis I’m not entirely worried about that we have Shai, Jamal, RJ and co. to help counteract his offensive production

Spain isn’t what they used to be, their best guys are the Hernandez brothers, raptor legend Lorenzo Brown and Santi Aldama. They have size but we can easily beat them on the perimeter and having guys like Shai and Jamal to beat them one on one.

Australia to me has the best all around team besides from us on paper, they have some solid NBA guys but again we out match them with talent.

Obviously, FIBA can be very interesting because teams can win with less talent and it happens all the time, but speaking on talent we are the clear-cut best team in this group.

  10. I’d still take this group over fighting w France, USA or Serbia tbh

We avoid the best teams in the tournament. They’re probably more afraid of us than we are of them. Let’s f-ing go!

Going to be a tough group. Australia always plays above their level. Giannis is Giannis and they got momentum and you can never count out a team led by coach Scariolo.

I like our chances though. Can’t wait to watch!

Am I crazy or is Canada like, by far the best team in this group?

What’re y’all on in this thread lol.

Obviously none of the other teams are pushovers like other teams in the tournament, but there’s really no reason to believe that Canada won’t win the group with (relative) ease

    *Knocks on wood*

  14. If we are legit this should be a nice tune up.

Greece gets beat regularly and beyond Giannis have no one. The Spaniards are past their golden generation and no one is picking them to get near a medal which leaves the Aussies who should be a good challenge.

    We have to deal with:

    – Giannis and that massive front court

    – A team with 8 current NBA players, plus Delly & the reigning Aussie league Finals MVP Jack McVeigh

    – A Spanish side that was a buzzer beater from beating us at the World Cup & almost never falls flat at the Olympics, no matter who is on the squad

And since we don’t have a team like Japan or South Sudan to beat up on in our group, even if we somehow go 3-0, our prize in the quarterfinals will likely be either Germany or Serbia due to point differential.

If we somehow win a medal after all that, build Shai a statue in Falkirk East

This the toughest group I’ve seen at basketball. Aside from Slovenia shitting the bed, what other strong teams are there, US obviously and Germany. Kinda brutal. We still beat them all, even with our size.

  17. Chopstickz91

When is Canada’s first game? And Vs. Who?

  18. Annual_Plant5172

Feels like way too many Canada fans refuse to acknowledge that international experience still matters.

  19. Good group. Spain’s always tough. Australia’s on the rise, and Greece has Giannis. Iron sharpens iron. We need tough groups in order to cut our teeth and get better

  20. FlavourDavid

Oh damn, that’s a tough group. We have the most talent but those are experienced, well coached teams. Could be disappointing but I’m optimistic it’ll help kick the team into gear right away

  21. Scrizzy6ix

Canada easily the best team in group, but Greece has Giannis and Spain/Australia are known to have that “dawg” in them. This might turn into a bloodbath

  22. Inevitable-Crow2494

    I am Australian.

Canada win this group as ‘easily’ as any team could at this level. Should be a great tournament.

    My predictions

    Tier 1

    1. USA – deepest team

    2. Serbia – best player in tournament plus usually solid

    3. Canada – 2nd best player in tournament plus deep (just question big men)

    4. France – VW wow. If he shoots well, look out!

    Tier 2

    5. Germany – solid well run team with great chemistry

    6. Spain – solid

    7. Australia – deep but lacking stars as Mills has aged and shot badly recently.

    8. Greece – Giannis walls needed. He is amazing when going to the basket.

    9. Brazil – very impressed with Bruno.

    10. Puerto Rico – impressive to qualify.

    Tier 3

    11. South Sudan – tough to compete with the others.

    12. Japan – tough to compete with the others.

Of course, I am confident with the tiers but the placings could vary. Coaching and chemistry are the biggest x factors. I am tempted to put Serbia first but hard to bet against the USA. Canada and France could also win.

    Will be a great tournament!

honestly, I have enough faith in our team in that as long as we’re not in the same group as USA, we have a good chance of going all the way, yes all the Euro teams have good players and I’m not writing them off but our squad is gonna surprise a lot of people just like our men’s soccer team

we do lack in size for the interior but I think if we use the small ball approach to out score the other teams early, we should be ok… as well one thing I think we often overlook is that our guys are like the Euro guys, where they actually played together growing up, majority of them are out of Ontario anyways so they been playing with/against each other for while, so chemistry is there
