  1. Theis fills the Larry Nance role perfectly. I don’t have a lot of faith in him being a starter though.

Great. Now all we need to do is get Walker Kessler from the Jazz and we are set.

Theis is a solid pickup for you guys on what I assume is a vet min, but if your front office is grabbing him to start he will be outmatched vs a fair few Centers at just 6’8, 245.

That said there’s still a lot to love about Theis despite those limitations. He’s a very smart player on both ends of the floor who plays with a nice edge to his game. Offensively he sets great screens, is a good short roll passer, and can hit open middies(sadly the 3 ball never quite came around for him). Meanwhile on defense he’s lost a step, but he’s still decently switchable and isn’t afraid to challenge anyone.

The biggest issues you’ll have with him will be finding yourself wishing he was 2 inches taller and 10 lbs heavier a fair bit, but the real struggle that’s not in his control is the absolutely TERRIBLE whistle this man gets for some reason. You think you have seen a player get an absolutely terrible whistle before, but I promise you it is nothing compared to the atrocious touch fouls he gets called for while opponents are allowed to maul him. The War on Theis has been a never ending battle during his time in the NBA.

Take care of my boy, Pels fans.
