[Music] breaking Miami Heat news Haywood heith is returning to the 305 Adrien rosanowski had the initial report this Monday afternoon that heith has agreed to a 2-year $1 million deal with the Miami Heat heith had significant interest around the league but stays with the franchise that developed him into an NBA player this is very key for Miami and we’re going to talk about it in depth throughout Today’s show but I did want to mention this off the bat as now after they waved Orlando Robinson over the weekend it was expected that they were going to add someone to the roster whether it be heith or an exterior free agent with heith now joining the Heat roster once again this puts Miami at 14 standard contracts which is usually what they carry into training camp so this Heat roster is full as Miami is very important though because he has continued to grow as a player in this heat system year after year after year and ever since joining the team he has been an improved player he has got his three-point percentage all the way up to 39.6% which was his career high and sure yeah he doesn’t have the biggest Arsenal in terms of offensive capabilities but he is a valued member of this team and I know that coach Eric spola really enjoys him on this roster because of the versatility he gives you defensively he can guard one through four and he can do it extremely well and he’s continuing to grow as an offensive player every single year he has improved to the point where he had that little 8- foot float shot that was an added move to his Arsenal this past season when he was called upon late in the year with Rosier and Jimmy daring with injuries and in the postseason heith had a little bit of an expanded offensive role which he took to his advantage to Showcase that drive that float spot now what I’m going to want to see from heith over the next two seasons as he’s signed with the Miami he is an added versatility on the offensive end like you can’t simply just be PJ Tucker that’s a little bit less or like a less of an impact offensively because PJ actually had a really good year when he was with Miami I’m not going to ask hey would average 10 points a game but if you can give me closer to eight or nine a solid game after coming off the bench well then we can start to really get into more of a development with Haywood heith but the reason why this is even more hugee with Haywood returning on a to your deal is because he adds a wing Defender mindset and it is something Miami desperately needed after losing Caleb Martin the biggest need for Miami was Bench depth and Wing defense because think about what Miami had on the roster just two days ago without heith on it right your best defender is 35-year-old Jimmy Butler I love Jimmy he’s an excellent Defender and he reads the passing Lanes phenomenally but as an on ball threat this is not what you wanted to see second would have been haime hakz Jr and number one probably is Bam Metabo but if we’re going to be honest he’s such a center we can’t ask him to do more in guard on the perimeter even more than he already does so when you think of having hero Duncan Rosier Josh Richardson like you needed another guy defensively on this roster and Haywood heith will give you that and it makes me very very excited that he is returning grade the resigning of Haywood heith for me AB B C D or F let me know your thoughts on Haywood returning to the 305 I’m pretty excited I’m probably giving an A minus because he is needed and he comes at a pretty cheap price if you ask me just a little update on that 2year $1 million contract it is fully guaranteed with no player options so he is getting 5.5 mil in these next two seasons no matter what unless the heat ended up trading them or something like that which is kind of where I want to take the conversation right the Heat’s roster as I mentioned at the top is full 14 players standard contract which means the heat are not going to add on to this roster via free agency anymore unless they wave someone which I don’t really see happening so you have to turn your eyes to the trade market if you’re the Miami Heat that’s the only way they could improve the roster which means means it’s run it back season Because unless Miami goes out there and makes a trade for like a Brandon Ingram a Trey young a Lori Mark in the roster that you currently see which we’ll probably do a video about this week on breaking down the entire roster is going to be the team heading into training camp for better for worse I know it might be frustrating for some Heat fans out there I’m certainly not the most excited about them running it back but if nothing comes available on the trade market this is the team going to see just wanted to throw that caveat in there before we head out of this video though I do want to continue to talk about high Smith presence on this Heat team because over the past couple Seasons he has always been like the eighth ninth 10th Man on this team but I expect the much more expanded role for heith this upcoming year due to the losses of Caleb Martin heith very well could be the seventh or eighth man off the bench for this Heat team you think about the starting lineup and if everything holds according to plan I’d probably assume the starting lineup is going to be Tyler herro Terry Rosier Jimmy Butler nicoa yovic and bab bio which would mean your top three bench guys are likely going to be haime hawz Jr as your sixth man um Duncan Robinson as your seventh guy and then Haywood heith will likely be your eighth guy and then you’ll talk about Josh Richardson and khle wear being your ninth and tth man as the backups and then if you go 11 deep with Kevin Love so the heat do have a lot of depth now after bringing back heith there are some concerns about the depth Miami has specifically on the defensive side of the floor as I mentioned off the top which is why it was so key bringing heith back because he’s realistically at this point your best point of attack Defender and most versatile defender in terms of guarding ones twos and wings like he is always going to be matched up with the best perimeter scorer on the opposing team on a nightly basis that’s when heith checks in and he’s going to give you 15 to 20 minutes a g game Off the Bench potentially those 15 20 minutes are going to be spent defending opposing play team’s best perimeter guys and that’s why High Smith bringing back is so important and if he’s going to be able to continue to improve his three-point shot as he did this last season and shoot 39 plus% again this upcoming year with probably a larger volume that’s going to be something that could really benefit Miami but like I also mentioned off the top I’d like to see high Smith improve off the the dribble and be more confident with the ball in his hands because every time heith gets the ball if it’s not an immediate shot off the catch from Beyond The Arc it is very very scary to watch him try to dribble and make a decision in terms of passing the ball or just trying to break his man down off the dribble and like an isolation move like he’s fine pump faking and driving but if he’s trying to put on a dribble move it’s not the most Pleasant thing to watch and it honestly brings me a little bit of a uh caution if you will but hopefully heith is working on his game for him to be
