it’s been like to be here what’s the process been like and you look around see the banners everything else kind of head spinning a little bit yeah yeah for sure I mean it’s been exciting uh to say the least um got out here um Friday night been here for a few days um obviously started practice for summer league um just super excited to be a part of this organization um obviously you know the best organization in basketball and um a great fan base the best you know in the NBA um and so just super excited to be a part of that and just get to work what’s your mindset been like when it comes to get to work what kind of you trying to accomplish yeah you know just really working on defense um um learning just the schemes and you know the wording um it’s a lot different than it was in college obviously um so I think that’s just the biggest thing that I’m trying to you know lock down right now what’s the biggest differences there specifically you’re seeing and how far has your defense come you know through your five years in school yeah my defense has come a long ways um from looking back from when I was a freshman to now um it’s come a long ways and you know I’m super confident on that end of the Court um and then just the biggest difference I think um is just the space on the NBA floor compared to the college floor um I think that’s probably the biggest difference what’s it been like in just practice so far obviously there’s a lot of experienced guys on the summer league team to go up against especially defens wise what have you kind of seen yeah I think that you know that’s really unique um you know a lot of guys that have played you know um professionally for for a little while now um and just trying to pick their brains and learn from them and then obviously you know it’s super competitive in here um with with a lot of you know high level guys do you have someone you kind of model your game after role that you kind of see yourself fitting into at this level um yeah you know there’s a lot of guys you know I like um watching Joe Engles a lot um just how he plays um I think that’s one guy that you know I watch a lot growing up and then just you know kind of try to model my game after you talked to any of your new teammates and what’s the reception been like with them yeah it’s been good uh Jason was here on Saturday when I was uh in here signing my contract he was signing his new one and um you know we were both working out at the same time um it was great to you know just meet him and kind of just pick his brain and ask him some questions about summer league and um and things like that um and so you know the reception’s been really well and I’m looking forward to you know just continuing to meet you know all the guys and meet the fans and all that you signed that contract is it kind of surreal as you look around it right your signature on it oh for sure it’s definitely surreal um you know a dream come true and and like I said um on that day you know I’m just excited to get to work I know it’s sort of in awe but did J anything specific that Jason told you that when you talking to him yeah you know he said you know just be confident and be yourself um especially with Summer League you know it’s it’s a little different than the normal regular NBA you know game um and so he said just be confident be yourself and you know um try to get your teammates involved any way you can is there anything specific you’re looking to work on in summer league like what’s your focus um just bringing energy um on the defense end and then you know offensively you know um you know I’m pretty confident on that in the floor so um just really just bringing intensity um trying to pick my teammates up and and you know try to win then St and like your practice coach MCL and the rest of the coaching St like anything that stands out from anybody on that coach I mean I just like they’re very personable you know they relate to you well um and they bring a lot of energy um and that just makes practice you know a lot more fun a lot more competitive when the coaches are bringing that as well there’s been a lot of there’s been a lot of guys who have come through this program like young guys who have get gone on to get a role on a team like Sam Hower like L cornet when you see that guys have kind of come up through the program and developed into really solid role players in the league how does that kind of set the base for you of like okay this is a place I need to buy into what they teaching yeah what makes me very excited obviously you know the organization is obviously doing a lot of things right to have a lot of guys you know get drafted or come into this program and then find roles um on the team and so I’m just trying to soak in all the information that you know everyone’s telling me and try to learn and grow and just become the best player I can be bayy you’ve played a few games in New England already Providence Yukon things like that what stood out about those games yeah I mean just the the environment obviously L you know very passionate fan bases of Providence and Yukon um a lot of high level um competition and going against you know highle players and um you know I think that’s just you know as as a kid growing up you dream of playing in those environments and um like you said those are two of the best in the Big East so Baylor along those lines when did you get to Boston and what what are your initial impressions of the place I mat was pretty different from Nebraska yeah it’s a little different than Nebraska for sure I got in Friday um and kind of just been you know uh at the facility and at the hotel I’m saying saying that um but obviously you know it’s a beautiful city and you know I actually grew up a Red Sox fan um so I’m excited to kind of get out to Fenway Park and and see the the green monster myself so what was the connection why’ you pick uh I don’t really know you know I I I really like David Ortiz and Dustin padya um and those were kind of my favorite players um growing up in baseball wise so um I guess that’s really why how well do you know some of your teammates on this team and what stands out about some of their games just seeing them in the practices so far uh yeah well you know I played against you know Jordan Walsh in college and played against JD Davids in college obviously both you know terrific athletes um and very skilled um me you know they like to compete I think that’s the biggest thing that I’ve seen just from all my teammates is just on the competitiveness um and the willingness to be you know humility and just we share the ball well um which is a lot of fun to play with do you feel it different here you know as some of the guys have said and uh when you watch them play the Celtics what kind of things do you see and admire uh you know just the togetherness that they play with um you know they they play together um always working um for one another working with each other um they don’t care who gets the credit at the end of the day all they want to do is win Brad talked about just you know how pleased you was that you felt a 30 were you surprised at all that you kind of lasted that long seemed like your range was a little bit above that you know hang the draft yeah you know I was I was you know definitely confident coming into draft night that I was going to get picked um you know that first night and you know I thought I had a great pre-draft process um and you know there were a few teams that were interested in me before the Celtics and I thought there was a good chance but but uh my agent did a good job of just telling me you know there’s a lot of things that can happen um on draft night and you know at the end of the day uh everything happens for a reason I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be so I’m super excited to be here thank you ba thank you thanks guys
