we have some major Toronto Raptors updates as the big contracts that were signed in this offseason for Scotty barns as well as Manuel quickley were made official today and there was a massive press conference where they discussed a lot of things about the Raptor’s future coming to next season and brought some interesting insights as well as the future of Sasha venkov who has had one of the weirdest starts to a Toronto Raptor’s career that I can really remember so lots of stuff to dive into in this video but before we do folks again if you’re a part of the 49% that hasn’t hit the regarding this Toronto Raptors team but we had a lot of updates a lot of quotes a lot of stuff coming out for Messi jury and uh you know just the whole Squad of new Toronto Raptors players that have come in and signed some big contract extensions but let’s dive into what’s been said and the big quote that’s been taken away and people have been running with from this press conference is Messi Jerry coming out and saying last year was a shame to me to us in a way that I feel like we had to rebuild it’s now starting to settle so this is an interesting quote because obviously beside you Jerry he’s made it known he’s made his philosophy we are going to win in Toronto we are trying to get winning we obviously don’t tank for what was the big 2021 model but or playing for what and then ended up tanking 2021 got Scotty Barnes but this team wasn’t up to SP wasn’t up to msai jer’s expectations last year and wanted to facilitate a rebuild wanted to retool this roster wanted to shape things up but as he said you know in that quote things are starting to settle now now does that mean that it’s guaranteed going to be good you know the Raptors are going to be a top four seed in the Eastern Conference next season probably not I’d like to see that I’d like that for to go down but that does seem unlikely but it does seem to me that msai jiri’s done making a bunch of tear down moves going to be overtly tanking in the future we could be wrong purle Bruce Brown are obviously pieces that could get dealt we have another update on Bruce Brown which we’ll get to in the next video but man messer’s quotes and discussions from this press conference really indicated to me and what Scotty and Emanuel quickly were saying that they don’t project this rebuild to be as long as maybe some people were projecting you know Bobby Webster and dark or alit’s quotes that were coming out so let’s dive into other things that were said basically these are fin uh foundational players referring to Scotty Barnes and manual quickly it’s the start of something it’s growth we’re hoping we can start and build uh that Force we want to get back to where we were so that’s coming from aai also said that we were so proud of Scotty for the player and leader that he has become I’ve said it before that he is the type of player that we build a team around well we are doing that together our future stars Here It Starts Now Emanuel quickly embodies so many things that are important to our team he wants to win and he will be a raptor for years to come we are very high on IQ our point guard of the future so that’s what Messi jury had to say about the two top guys which obviously makes sense you’re investing 35 40 plus million dollar annually and these two guys respectfully I mean that’s uh they better be foundational pieces they better be key guys that are going to be core to your group you better believe in that group if you’re pouring that much money into these types of players and I like the risk I definitely Barnes being an All-Star again manual Quickly’s price was definitely higher than a lot expected but given his Elite three-point shooting defense all of that type of stuff I’m excited to see this two you know tandem of Scotty Barnes and manual quickly grow and develop with this team as well as RJ Barrett who has really shocked a lot of people in terms of his performance since he’s joined the Toronto Raptors so you have nice core piece a nice bit of development there and then we had some interesting quotes from Scotty Barnes as well saying I think the main thing I’ve learned about Toronto is how dedicated and supportive the fans are it’s not just the city but the country that’s the thing I’ve embraced most so nice to get a little plug out from uh Scotty Barnes there you know where for uh the fan base and then Manu quickly or manu quickly said that I think the main thing was the mentality of the organization where they saw me and the team going I was really intrigued so our two top guys seem bought in ready to go wanting to be in Toronto which is a positive now obviously if you’re paying them that much money you’d hope they want to be with the team with the the squad but it’s nice to hear quotes about how they’re buying the fan base all that PR stuff and again these guys are both Elite basketball players as well 20 points per game eight rebounds 6.1 assists for Scotty Barnes last season 1.5 blocks for nighte 1.3 steals June 34% from the three-point line 67 22 years old Scotty Barn’s a beast we know how good he is and then Emanuel quickly again the points per game haven’t been lucrative but 17 four and five you know the 40% from the three-point line is uh really encouraging interestingly enough only shoots 29% in corner 3 not the highest sample size he takes a lot from above the break you know dribbling and stuff but 63 25 years old we have a young core tandem with this Raptor team now at this point that should have Raptors fans excited so I’m U encouraged I’m happy that Messiah Jerry’s bought in excited about this Core Group you know they looked at last year again as uh as a shame to me how bad the team was last season so those words don’t indicate to me that Messiah is looking for many more years of Shame and disgust and disappointment as we saw last season so I definitely project this team to definitely be trying out the gates next year but we’ll see we’ll see how it all plays out we have some interesting salaries we still haven’t opened up a roster spot and I felt like that would be imminent a move that would be coming very soon just given the fact Gary Trent Jr all these guys are still available out there in the open market that are in the Raptor’s price point range and things like that taking flyers on dudes but we’ll see how that all plays out but the one guy that’s on the roster people are really questioning about his future of the team is Sasha venkov who has uh we got an update M jery directly spoke on said that we are still going going through that situation I’ve had conversations with Sasha and his representations Bobby coach and I think he uh that should develop in the next few days we’ll see whether it’s a few months uh we acquired a player in a trade and we feel we have communicated well we communicated well with the agent and uh the team before so we’ll see how that goes so again it’s been all over the place this Sasha of venko of saga obviously if you’re not familiar he’s a guy we acquired from the Sacramento Kings average five points per game to rebounds per night you know 44% from the field a 38% three-point shooter good on Corner threes he’s 28 years old 29 years old but this man was the MVP of the Euro league so there’s been a ton of indications if you haven’t been following recent videos essentially Sasha V vov is a guy that wanted to go back to Europe while beyond the Kings there’s rumors Rumblings about that a traded from the Kings Still reports that hey he’s signing with this team in Europe and Greece called Olympiacos and then Olympiacos denied that they signed him and then Sasha spoke out I’m a member of the torona Raptors for right now but we’ll see how that develops so very non-committal in his actual discussions for being with this Raptor team and then you know reports came out hey the Raptors hold all the cards whether or not they want to keep them he’s under contract he’s getting paid like 67 million do this season so again he wants his money he wants his bread he’s going to have to show up to training camp and do his type type of thing out there but theuer as kind of said in this uh quote things are developing will probably have an answer to this situation in the coming days and regardless again the roster spot would be valuable but it’s uh interesting to me because frankly like he’s a good basketball player could be a cool fit positional wise on this team you know the contract is very very tradable so it could give uh the Raptors more sort of chess pieces to move around with you know come this season as you know trade negotiations definitely go on I don’t know I think it’s a it’s a weird position a weird spot I’m uh I’ve been intrigued by this story this development and we’ll see if he actually ever plays for the Toronto Raptors but let me know in the comment section down below if you guys want to see Sasha back
