I have no idea who this guy is but the replies treat him like he’s a real insider so.
GTJ is an interesting player. Hes young and athletic. He can shoot the shit out of the ball that’s for sure, especially on dribble pull ups. For a year in Portland, he was a LOCKDOWN on ball defender when he was finally getting touches when CJ McCollum went down and Dame was carrying the team every night.
The problem is he hasn’t played defense like that since he got to Toronto and won’t get those touches in MIL.
If he is really fielding no offers other than a minimum from other teams, it all depends on him changing his head space from demanding the ball and trying to be a Jordan Clarkson type, to settling into the “play hard defense, shoot it when they pass to you and occasionally attack the basket.” If there are other options for GTJ and his market is what I think it is (12-15 mil a year in that Malik Monk niche) then there’s no shot he comes here.
If he does come here, it’s because the market for him is barren and in that case, I’m optimistic he will see the wisdom in narrowing his game and focusing on being the perfect compliment to dame.

and pat + brook (i think) have their last guaranteed year, so if he plays good for us, we could offer him a better contract, would be a perfekt pat replacement for me. Im not too opimistic, but would be ideal if we could get him.
