Was the Boston Celtics’ Championship Path Too Easy? || The Greg Hill Show

all right can I get to uh my issue with Shaq please and others who continue months later to rage on about the Celtics having an easy road to the NBA finals like what what did you let’s listen to what Shaq said about this yesterday Boston had it easy it’s not their fault not their fault I don’t care they they won however I would have liked them to see them New York was banged up yeah New York was banged up so but they they they want it they wanted square but they’re still aot of doubs so your reasoning is Boston’s still very talented but their Road will likely not be as easy next year your road was too easy so when their Road stiffens up and they don’t win then we could really then then that statement will be verified now if they win next year with all these with all these teams healthy got to give them their respect are you kidding me like get over it everyone’s got to get over it nobody said anything about the Pacers and the Bucks like it was just this bias against the Celtics the entire time and we were hurt too people keep forgetting that christops porzingis was not okay throughout the playoffs at all at all they were a different team when he was playing 100% to than what we saw during the postseason that was oh my God it’s so it’s infuriating and I’m not on the team I can’t only imagine if you’re Jason Tatum Jaylen Brown any of those guys Derek white I don’t care if Jimmy Butler was healthy like this team is a different team like I but he’s not lying well we all said it in real time like it wasn’t a difficult path even yeah but even if Tyrese halberton was healthy or Jimmy Butler was healthy or Donovan Mitchell was healthy the Celtics are still winning all three of those series they lost three games in the playoffs I know I to watch them I would just ask did he say they wouldn’t have won if it was a tougher Road he said they they will have a much tougher time doing it this year anybody would anybody dispute that I I would yes you think that they might have an easier time they are no I don’t think it’s easier but I think it’s very similar I think that this team would have beaten uh all of those teams healthy it the series may have gone longer but that’s that’s what he’s saying he’s not saying they wouldn’t have won he’s saying but then why are the doubters not silenced then cuz like you can’t you can’t say uh it was it was easy so they’re still doubters if they won and they would have won even if they were healthy I was they will never talk about the the the path they had in 5 to 10 years never you will look up at the banner it will say Banner 18 20 2024 NBA champions there will be no asterisk but it was an easy road but you could do that with you could do that with every championship team you could make the argument with Jordan and his Bulls when they were playing Portland and Utah right and people did and uh I don’t think I heard it like that you could make the argument whether was uh the Denver Nuggets last year every year it’s something there’s going to be teams that maybe a player gets H um like that’s something you but the Celtics they have gotten worse than others and what are they supposed to do put an aster next to the season say NBA champions because everybody else was hurt you’re going to do that every it’s crazy but he’s not asking for that he’s just saying it was an easy road and it was okay but was it the easiest Road I mean d has anybody gone back and analyzed every single road to the NBA finals to determine if this was the easiest Road I certain that Bucks fans could go back and find people talking about their championships saying they lucked out somehow well here’s who Shaq beat um for the Lakers in the 99 uh o 2000 finals Sacramento Kings Phoenix Suns Portland Trail BL Blazers and then he beat the Pacers in the NBA Finals so I mean you could you could do that every single year and go okay you know teams had issues these weren’t the you know the the the the the best teams or the best times I just feel like guess what I think the Jazz those Jazz and Blazers teams would have beaten any of the opponents the Celtics had you talking about the the Utah Jazz yes Stockton Malone yes uh yeah they probably would beat so then I mean yeah they probably would beat the the the current teams now right I don’t know teams I think that they were a better team than the Celtics went up against and that’s the Celtics had one of the top 10 best seasons in the history of the NBA so people are going to nitpick I think they I think they would I don’t know if that you know what I might go with Dallas over Utah in that series if they had a series between the Dallas Mavericks and the Utah Jazz that you know stocked in Malone yeah might take Dallas it’s just it seems silly to me to look back at an an absolutely dominant team in the regular season MH and a team that rolled through the playoffs right and try to act like they had it easy and to suggest that it’s not going to be that easy like this team in my mind has one of the better chances of repeating certainly in the NBA in the last 20 years because they they got everybody back yep and you know the thing they got they got they have got everybody back and you know the thing that they did that we used to hear this even when I played when you play against a team that might have some injuries or might not be as good as you are then you beat them and you dominate them that’s what the the Celtics did the whole postseason they dominated every single team that they played exactly and they are the NBA champions and nobody will take that away and I have to say I hate to do this Shaq is so fraudulent I just cuz I just wanted to see who he picked he picked the Mavs to win in like five games so he’s now saying they had an easy road but he picked the team the Celtics I mean that does kind of ruin his his stance but I I would say in general we said it in real time that they had to win and I said many times if they won the path would be irrelevant because the championship would stand mhm and it’s just like the I mean just like other teams the Patriots won once and people thought it was a fluke then they won a couple more and then they got more respect that’s that’s what will happen with this team yeah well they’ll they’ll be right back at it again this uh this upcoming season they yes they will they’ll be able to repeat the the only thing that will get in the way is is someone named John Henry uh who should he be able to purchase that franchise but I thought of this over the weekend Greg John Henry has no interest in the Celtics they’re expensive and talented he does like those teams I’m serious he doesn’t want to spend a lot of money for a basketball team but they haven’t they had their eyes on an NBA franchise hasn’t that been the LeBron and he’s part of that group so I could see I told you I don’t know how you would able be able to finagle it you think he’s going to be okay having a landlord like buying a team in which he doesn’t own the building no but I think that he would be looking to break the lease get out and find a place to build an arena very quickly well he’s going to have to give up his security deposit well that’ll be fine I think that won’t be an issue at all you don’t think so you buy a team for you know $6 billion guess what you want your own stadium and I and that’s why people think and I don’t know how it could be done but we all know LeBron wants in as an owner and maybe there’s a way they backo channeling I’m not saying that this is no thank you can we say no to that well it I told you I don’t care who the hell where the owner comes from just be somebody who’s passion about the team and that’s all that matters all right well that is what Shaquille O’Neal had to say yesterday about the Celtics
